My first boxing event and excited to sh*t! After last weekend, my families house burning down. We are ready to get away for a night and excited to watch the next FILIPINO PRIDE do his thing.
Anyone have any recommendations, what to expect, what to do while waiting etc?
I'm from Jersey. Where abouts are you? Sorry to hear about the house...
Did you just get into boxing recently? Considering your from Jersey and MSG isn't that far, I'm surprised you haven't made more trips... I was seriously about to go to this one but my friend convinced me it would be worth watching on tv better since our ticket range wouldn't have gotten us a great seat... But w/e I'm cool with it because this is going to be an awesome fight either way.
I think Rigo will do better than people are making it out to be but honestly, the way I've seen him take left hooks, if Donaire slips one in, I can't see him withstanding the power. At the same time, Rigo has a few chances to get his own punches into Donaire who loves fighting with his hands low at times. Gonna be a great chess match at high speed as everyone has been saying :D
Parking spots or garage? I'm sure I'll be there for atleast 6-9 hours. Freaking NYC garages charge out the ass and I'm sure they'll jack it up for that night.
I live in jersey so I do go to the city, once in a while. I am excited as this fight really is a TOSS up. Rigo is very good because of his amazing amateur background and normally early fights for pros are a learning curve as they progress.
Rigo is already experienced and it shows in his pro fights. Either we find out that Rigo really is the man or Nonito legitimizes his position as a P4P Elite and future P4P king.
Filipino blood requires me to represent but I respect any good fighters that aren't ignorant as sh*t.
Angry Cuban where in the theater you going to be? I was told 1st mezzine was the best spot so I got mine on the 1st mezzine right off center as the dead center section was all sold out.
Thanks guys. They lost EVERYTHING. They had no renters insurance but the owner was dismissing multiple emails stating electrical problems. They plan to sue the owner for neglect.
My sister in law works for a high end lawyer in the area and will be pursuing that action. My family was pretty devastated as they all lost THOUSANDS of dollars in material objects. We, however, have kept positive especially since I clown around with them. We're glad noone got hurt as the fire department spoke with everyone and stated that if this happened at night while people were asleep then everyone in the house would have died. It was pretty serious!
What to expect? expect to leave in the 1st round, so just leave the car running.
nah bro rigo said he will play with donaire for a little before koing him
ill be there bro you'll have a shoulder to cry on TS
I hope you had good fire insurance after the house burn down. I had a major infestation in the garage in a house in FL and had to put stuff in storage, and that was annoying.
As far what to expect it depends what style Rigo brings to the table. Many people think Rigo will get KO, but if he keeps his a low stance and fights cautious he can last the distance like Narvaez. I was ringside when Donaire was taken the distance by the dimunitive argentinean. However, it might an aberration as Argentineans are among the most steel chin pugilists out there. Monzon was never knocked out in 100 bouts(only one knockdown in his LAST fight, Jorge Fernando Castro i think was stopped once in over 100 bouts and same thing for Nicollino Locche.
If Rigo takes chances he may get stopped by a left hook. My best bet is that Rigo's experience and skills will get him to the finish line.

Damn... Sorry to hear about your crib. Hope you have fun at your first fight.
Nah, I really don't think Rigo is going to KO Donaire that quick. I expect Nonito to at least last a few rounds before getting dropped. :D
I'm just trolling, I still think Donaire wins tho.

Personally, I'm indifferent. Both fighters are very good in their own right, both can be very technical - GR being more technical of the two. I expect to see GR boxing, moving and countering more. ND will have more volume and generally be the aggressor throughout the night. It's definitely going to be a GREAT fight, a true boxing fan's fight.
I couldn't pick one...but if I did I'd say ND just on volume and exposiveness. GR, sometimes just doesn't throw enough, at least relative to ND.
