This is what he had to say about Donaire and Rigondeaux fighting.
“I’d like to see him fight the Cuban to be honest, Rigondeaux. Rigondeaux's one of the best fighters I’ve ever trained technique-wise. He’s very skillful, he’s a great counterpuncher, and I think those two guys together would be a great fight. Working the mitts and stuff, when I’m trying to get shots in and show him his mistakes, seeing the openings and so forth, he’s the only fighter in the world that I’ve never hit once. I’ve never caught him. One time I was going to go to the body after a right hand and he stuck his elbow in there and bruised my arm for a month. I’ve never got to him in like six months of training,” declared Roach."
Roach is an offensive guru so if he couldn't hit Rigondeaux, that tells us how great of a defense Rigo has.

Donaire hasn't even fought at FW and Mikey doesn't just "come forward"
Donaire has fought Vazquez and Mathebula who were much bigger than him and they both probably weighed in at over 135 pounds on fight night.
He's big at the weight, but he is still soft.
Donaire is always a little fleshy in the stomach area, that is why I believe Rigondeaux bodyshots will trouble him.
Gamboa is my guy, but he's going to struggle at 135 based on him not having the frame for it. Donaire will have similar problems at 130 and even 126 will be difficult for him.
I don't believe Donaire is big at the weight for a second. He is very obviously eating himself up in weight. Look at the weigh in photos for all of his fights and compare them to other fighters that are big for their weight.
Donaires weight is all going to his body, his arms and legs are staying skinny. Hes not a guy whos body is wanting to get bigger.
mikey would out box donaire easy in my oppinion
Mikey hasn't faced any tough competition to make you say he would outbox Nonito. In fact if they ever fought, Donaire's speed would be way too much for Mikey and he likes to come forward which would play into Donaire's hands.
Garcia hardly trains Donaire, Brian Scwhartz is donaire's real trainer.
Donaire Garcia will happen eventually if he keeps winning.
In a youtube interview, Robert Garcia said he loves Nonito and his family to much that if he ever stopped training him that he would never let Mikey fight Nonito. Mikey clarified these remarks and plus, Mikey is moving up to fight Gamboa next anyways.
Top guys always elevate their game versus worthy competition. The Rigo we'll see on April 13 will be about as good as he can be. The same can be said for Donaire.
Marroquin is a big kid at 122. He's a good fighter with good power. Those hooks he caught Guillermo with were nice shots, capable of rocking virtually anyone in the division.[/QUOTE
agreed.

Agreed, Marroquin is very big... Compared to a toothpick fighter in Mathebula.

That's true, and coincidentally R. Garcia hardly trains Mikey as well, their father does.

Nonito Donaire is VERY BIG FOR THIS WEIGTH CLASS his body frame speaks volumes i give Rigondeaux no chance if he cant over come Donaire size. like Roy Jones said his size will be hard to overcome at this weigth class
Because Rigo is going to approach a p4p top 5 fighter the same as he would Marroquin?
Also if i remember rightly they weren't weak left hooks, they were very well delivered as far as i could see...

How good were those opponents that shook Rigo up from the weak left hooks they landed on him? If they got the punch in, how the hell could Donaire not? Hmmm???

I am indeed.
That doesn't play a role in this fight though, I just prefer Rigondeux's game. I love his counter punching, footwork and all around technical brilliance.
I consider this to be a tremendous fight and very much a toss-up.
Yeah it's going to be a great fight, but Donaire's power will be too much for Rigo on April 13.
No chance would he KO Garcia. In fact, I'd see Garcia brutalizing him.
Donaire is already soft at 122, but I could see him going to 126 at some stage...he just wont be 'the man' in any division above 122. We'll have to wait until April to see if he's even the man at 122.
I agree on all counts. It's there for all to see: Donaire looks soft at 122 and looked soft even at 118. Now, boxing isn't bodybuilding, but we're talking about a fighter's potential at certain weight-classes. To me, it seems fairly evident that Nonito is already pushing the envelope of his physical potential. Rigondeaux, who is physically smaller, is absolutely ripped at 122. If Donaire moves up to 126, he'll have a hard time competing against the top guys, let alone beating them.
I take it your a Gamboa fan and thats why you favor Rigondeaux over Donaire.
