Anyone else think that weight cut effected him? The guy shouldn't even be at 140, he walks around at 185 pounds and is 5 foot 9.
He rehydrate to 161. I bet when he fights at 147 he will rehydrate to 170.
I agree its just a matter of discipline, not saying he doesnt train hard or anything like that but gaining a lot of weight in between fights its just a bad idea.
David dude you need to kick back on the steroids bro.
when are ppl gonna understand, rios' biggest weapon is his weight. without that advantage, he really doesnt have much to stand on. hes that bad and his skills are that stagnant.
the problem with rios is this, he a fatass. he cheats on his diet and trys to cut weight the last few days.
once he gets disciplined he will be fine, maybe this loss will do him some good.
He is a B grade fighter living out the toughest guy in the world image in his head , if he goes to 147 against bigger opponents with skills he gunna get KOed , thats the reason they draw guys like him right down in the first place , they got little skills and average power so the old school boxing theory is fight as small a division as you can make .
When Matthysse looks mediocre and stops developing like Rios, then I'll have a problem with it. I still don't believe he rehydrated that much though, but even then, he KO'ed Dallas with a perfectly placed counter-punch which is new for a guy who usually pounds his opponent into submission.
There was an interview with Matthysse he said he weighed 50, not 60 that it was a mistake.
Anyway, Brandon took some vicious body shots too. I think that had more to do with it... A few of those body shots folded him and they were clean blows. Those will kill you, even if its just a few here and there.

What do you expect though? The problem is not the weight gain. The problem is he's fighting in a division he doesn't naturally belong in. But this is the case with MANY fighters today. Most of the guys in most of the weight divisions don't really belong in the weight class they are in. And many of them are ruining there health for the long term.
I think he just needs discipline and not let himself balloon up after fights.

thats crazy I am 5 9 and walk around in 175 and I barely get to go to the gym 3 times a week
But wait, according to the Mattysstards, a fighter can't go 20+ pounds overnight, so i'm pretty sure HBO made a mistake. And they also made a mistake with Alvarado who went up 18 pounds.
