I don't understand boxing anymore these days. At one point Gamboa (126 pounder) was supposed to fight Brandon Rios (2 weight classes higher at that time).
I see Malignaggi (147 pounds) fighting Broner (135 pounds), even though Malignaggi wouldn't beat the other welterweight world champions (in my opinion). A disgraceful way for Broner to get a title at welterweight.
I see Golovkin defending his middleweight world title against Rosado, a LIGHT middleweight. Then I hear Golovkin is supposed to defend his title against Ishida, another LIGHT middleweight. (Not saying it is Golovkin's fault, but nobody of the other middleweight world champions would fight him).
Then I see Peter Quillin defending his middleweight title against Fernando Guerrero, who was also a light middleweight the last time I checked his record.
Boxing is done. Dead.
I see Canelo getting a world title at light middleweight by winning against a welterweight (Matthew Hatton). Then I see him defend that title against Josesito Lopez, a light welterweight (!!!!!).
What happened to boxing?
The world champions defend their titles against guys from lower weight classes over and over again. While the other world champions in that weight class do the exact same thing.
ИATAS, first of all, you are on my ignore list from now on.
We both know you live in your mommy's basement and therefore you are an angry person. You are not able to discuss boxing without insulting other people. I am not gonna go to that level, so I chose to ignore you.
Have a good day
Champions have always defended their belts against fighters in lower divisions. It's just easier to do now that there are half a dozen belts to fight for.
this guy scored Cotto over Floyd and Cloud over Hopkins....and got mad when no when else did the same
What do my scorecards of certain fights have to do with this thread? 99 % of your comments are lame and.....
Do I permanently stalk you because of that? No, I don't.
By the way, I scored Cloud vs Hopkins as a draw.

I saw the Cloud thread didn't know he scored Cotto over Floyd. Wow.
Their resume pales in comparison to the likes of SRL. But they've done just enough to be considered great imo.
Floyd's resume isn't even close to Leonard's. Ray was fighting monsters and I'm a Floyd fan. I'm trying to think how many beasts Floyd beat besides Corrales.
Just because a couple of guys are doing that sh*t, it doesn't ruin the sport. What bout Khan, Bradley, Ward + the 168 pound division, Hopkins at 100 years old. There's plenty of warriors still willing leave it all in the ring.
Yeah there's a lot of B.S. going on in the sport with the manufactured "stars" but the real ones eventually shine through.
A good fight is a good fight...who expected to see what we saw with Bradley and Prodvodnikov?
You'll have nothing to complain about tonight, that's for sure.
Not once did i say either had a better resume, but their resumes are far from weak, they both have great resumes and have accomplished a lot in the sport that i love

These things have been going on for YEARS!, it's just the media age where we can now see it ASAP and clear.
But the whole Manny Pacquiao weight jumping thing has gotten people to ignore the purpose for divisions.
People now believe a LW can/should be able to jump to WW/LMW and be effective (Tho I believe he did it on the juice).
But this stuff has always gone on, look back in history

Resumes seem to get more glorified as time goes by man, wait until 20 years down the line and see how great their resumes look then
I'm sorry. Did I misinterpret what you just wrote?? Are you implying that a resume like SRL's is receiving more glory than it deserves?? Are you saying that say Floyd beating say Corrales will be greater than SRL beating a Benitez in 20 years or so??
Cause personally I think in 20 years their resume (Floyd's/Pacman's) will still look like hot garbage compare to Leonard's.
Resumes seem to get more glorified as time goes by man, wait until 20 years down the line and see how great their resumes look then
At the rate we're going with all these so called "fighters" cherrypicking then those guys' (Duran, SRL, Hagler, etc.) resume are gonna look monstrous!
Paulie lost to a JWW coming up in weight AND missed weight. But Broner is getting praised for fighting the same Paulie that lost to a guy coming up in weight just like Broner.
fighters have been picking and choosing their fights long before manny and floyd..robinson was known to cancel fights over money at the last second..leonard was a diva as well
Jack Johnson refused to fight colored fighters..dempsey refused to fight colored fighters..etc,etc
Yup SRL was a diva, with the likes of Hagler, Hearns, Duran, Benetiz and more on his resume. I'd say he deserved it. Atg, take the least on his resume is still greater than the best on Floyd or Pacman's. Please.
It's all about the zero nowadays. And people like Haymon, GBP, etc., perpetuate it without shame. As if they'll be here in this planet forever. I mean people talk about how HBO will regret kicking out GBP. Man, if Broner/Malignaggi is a sample of a fight fans are going to see, who gives a damn?
did you have a problem with manny defending his title against tim bradley who was a 140 fighter??or fighting a lightweight in jmm 2 times at ww?
Absolutely. Bradley doesn't belong at 147 in my opinion. Bob Arum wants to make money, that is why that fight happened. Same reason why Gamboa vs Brandon Rios almost happened. Arum wanted to make money.
Actually Bradley vs Provodnikov at 147 is also somehow the same thing: 2 light welterweights fighting for a welterweight world championship. The whole picture gets distorted. We don't really know how either of those 2 guys would do against other top welterweights.
I'll tell you what happened. Floyd and Pacman happened. before there was canelo, it was dem.
Before there was floyd and Pacman, there was DLH. The difference of course being at least Oscar fought almost all the best of his era when he was in his prime. Then he passed the torch to those two, who in turn refused to pass the torch, but instead cherry pick left and right and milk the sport. Which in turn had promoters pamper and baby future stars and now all fight fans do is try and find the (next) ppv stars, like dummies.
Cause when you find the (next) ppv star, all you'll be paying for is dat star beating the brakes off of all no hopers in an attempt to make the most money while taking the least amount of risk. Blame Floyd/Pacman and their stupid a$$ fans.
so did you have a problem with Manny-Oscar?..or manny winning a title at 154 by fighting at 150 against an unranked opponent?
Manny vs Oscar? No. That was on DLH. Manny vs Margs? Absolutely. The fight was manufactured to give manny the belt.
so did you have a problem with Manny-Oscar?..or manny winning a title at 154 by fighting at 150 against an unranked opponent?
I remember I thought it was a disgrace that Oscar would fight Pacquiao back then. I thought Oscar just wanted an easy win over a future hall of famer who comes from a MUCH lower weight class.
But how often does the smaller guy beat the bigger guy? Almost never happens. A very good middleweight beats a good middleweight 12 times out of 13.
So Quillin vs Guerrero and Golovkin vs Ishida are very predictable in the outcome.
