Do you think he was brought back in to bring Jr's legs back? Even if he wasnt, do you think he can be the one to bring his legs back?
It will be hard to tell in this fight anyways because the game plan will probably be to walk the Ghost down. If they did elect to use his legs more in this fight it could actually backfire but it would be cool for future fights.
As a Floyd fan, it would be dope if he entered the ring at 154 pounds or so and still showed the ability to move well with his legs. Atleast on par with the Mosley fight. If he did that then I could see him being more willing to dual with the Jr. MW's. Most likely though he's 150 & flat footed
Goodness this Floyd "legs" talk is nauseating. Hes old as f*ck. So he changed his style hes using less energy and a lot more brains. He can still get his punches off and hes still pretty tough to hit. Its working because he's much stronger than he was when he first started fighting at welter. He can stand his ground and still dodge punches like a James Toney can.
He doesn't need to "move" just for the hell of it. It has to have a purpose behind it no need to waste energy at 37 just to do it.
This thread is a little amusing....Its like the guy who starts lifting weights and measures his bicept every day.....
Do fighters age in day? yes. But foresnsics dictate that this usually happens to fighters who are not athletic between fights. Usually there is some indication that you are not up to the task. Data also suggests that fans are quick to condemn....fighters do have bad outings, it is not a death sentence when an older fighter shows up lacking stamina and movement. Hopkins has looked old occasionally and then shown us that he is still the man.
All hoophula aside Floyd has over the years become more technically proficient and does not move like he did in his prime. Its amusing to see Broner imitating older Floyd because Floyd seems very aware of how to economize and Broner will be exposed imitating what he thinks he sees Floyd do....For example, Floyd does not line up wide in the feet, Boner does and will pay for it against Paulie.
Floyd has been getting hit more lately (even that Mosley punch) and fights off his back foot more than he used to...its part of aging and its not something that can be measured per a fight! Floys is way to skillful to suddenly change his effort in a way that can be exploited that obviously.
As said: Floyd is also playing to the fans, he fought Cotto that way for a reason...But prime Floyd? does not need to take any jabs from Cotto to counter that punch with an overhand right.
He still has good legs. Not saying its like 2007 again, against Ricky Hatton, but no one he's fought or probably could fight outside of Canelo or other fighters bigger than him would necessitate him bouncing around the ring like an amateur.
He can sit in the pocket and get his offense off, and he can back pedal , throw his check hook and roll off if anyone gets too close.
I'm just confused since every photo or video I've seen of Floyd's camp has Roger as the trainer. Floyd Sr. isn't even in the background anywhere. I know that doesn't mean he's not there putting in work, but the camp has a strange structure if that's the case.
When sr. is not crack talking about PAC or roach the stuff he says does make a lot of sense and it does show the good trainer side of him. Can't believe I'm even saying this lol.
trust me, I love seeing him in the pocket but there is still a difference. You can be in the pocket and still more alive on your toes, ala the Mosley fight. Since then its been looking more like an older man.
Obviously he can still move but how much? What he's doing now is good enough to beat anyone from 147 on down easily but my point is about 154. I think he'll need to show a lil more agility if he fights there again
i just yped this before i got to page two. These are my exact feelings. If he fights the way he did against Cotto say against Cinammon and he's going to be in for a rough night.
true but Im not 100% sure if he doesnt have more legs than he's showing. Could be this is what it is or he could still have enough legs to move around some. I dont think he has his JMM legs anymore.
If he showed that I would be shocked. However, I would love to see him get his Mosley legs back. Since then he's looked pretty bad with the movement. Some has been by design but some had looked like straight age.
If he was just as agile as the Mosley fight then he could still hold his own at 154 very well. If this is just what it is then he could be in trouble there
He moved pretty well against JMM. Would def love to see if he can still do that....if he can't he is going to have problems fighting top 54 pounders.
Realistically speaking, he doesn't need his legs here as much. He moved against Marquez because Juan is able to counter regardless of which angle you force him into, which is why he is arguably one the best counter punchers in the game. Guerrero is incapable of that and isn't the puncher that Mosley, Ortiz and Cotto were. Floyd's performance in this bout would shine more if he allowed Guerrero to try and smother him, Floyd could also get him out that way. If there is any fighter where he doesn't need to move much...it's this one.
Straight right hand, duck to Ghosts left, rinse, repeat enroute to a UD or 2nd half fight stoppage on Ghosts eyes. Thats how I see it.
Ghost isnt technical enough to brawl Money inside, and you can bet your ass the referee in Vegas wont allow the same tactics as the Berto fight.
If Floyd's legs are shot I don't know what Senior can do to improve his legs that any other trainer or Floyd Jr. himself could not do. He could do roadwork, spar, shadow box, jump rope, do sprints and lift weights with his legs or ride a stationary bike but he probably does these things already. Does Senior have a secret for improving legs?

Floyd Sr is a perfectionist who favours pure boxing the way Mayweather fought in the Marquez fight. With Guererro's aggression he will probably get the Gatti treatment. If you mean legs as in movement then it's possible. Mayweather can move around beating Guererro to frustrate him. After the 4th round Guererro would become a punchbag and possibly getting stopped around the 7th to save him from damage and further embarassment.
I really don't think Floyd's overall speed, agility, and overall ability is that different from 2009-2010, at least giving how he fought Cotto for parts of that fight. The difference was Cotto was big and could muscle Floyd to the ropes and keep him there.
I think Floyd could still move around and box and win fights that way but he's making an effort to stay in place more in order to give the fans more excitement.
UH...Why would you use your legs in the pocket...I think it is a serious confusion with fans when it comes to talking about "LEGS"....in boxing term when people talk about legs i am thinking Stamina and being able to go the distance without struggling to make it out of your stool in the later rounds...you seem to be talking more about Agility/Foot Speed and Quickness...if that is the case then yeah the agility is not as quick as it use to be
but with Mayweather even with Slower Agility he will still be quicker then most at 147 and 154...like Hopkins...Mayweather is still smart enough to work around what now I guess people are trying to label his "WEAKNESS"
Go to a Gym and spar and trying fighting inside "ON YOUR TOES" and see how easily you get pushed around, you should be more planted and flat footed inside for not only balance but to get off with more Power
I know about fighting flat footed in the pocket. My point us that he also use to fight aggresively in an offensive posturing while standing right in front of u in his toes. He hasn't done that the last 2 fights. It's not all about inside and offensive either. I'd like to see him be able to move more for defense too.
Again I know all about him being wiser now and doing other things but u are also underestimating what is going to work at 154 against some of the elite there. He will have to be more agile. I'm never worried about his stamina.
A lot of this is the same for broner. His style is fine now but when he fights the best at higher weights he is going to have to be on his toes more, move more, and show more agility. That's my point
trust me, I love seeing him in the pocket but there is still a difference. You can be in the pocket and still more alive on your toes, ala the Mosley fight. Since then its been looking more like an older man.

They still their watch the 12th Round of Cotto vs Mayweather...he was still able to bounce around like it was Round 1 What he does now he conserve his legs...why bounce around when you can stay in the pocket and still be slick and Slippery and even if you get trapped against the ropes you can still roll punches, what Mayweather use to do
of course he is getting older and the legs are not what the use to be but to say they are gone is stupid if that was the case then you would see him struggle to make it to the Cards and Struggle to move around the ring and get out of trouble when he needs too...instead of him still bouncing around in the 12th like he was against Cotto...even B-Hop still have Legs and Phenomenal Stamina but he just use them wisely now

Great to hear Sr saying something without sounding insane. He was saying basic stuff, but it's stuff with weight that definitely applies to Floyd.
You can also see why Hatton working with him was a terrible idea.
are you going to fight night in Tulsa? Do you ever go to the fights when Senior is in OK?
Floyd would be better off with Sr now.

I dont think this is why Sr. was brought in (as we have already discussed)..but as far as his legs go, I think Floyd still has his Mosley legs..I think he will show more of that this time around..with Ortiz he used some movement, but mostly upper movement..though with Cotto he showed less movement, I think that was moreso based on the style he fought Cotto.
