I picked Alvarado to win their first one, and I sat ringside with my mouth wide open when Rios stopped him.
But I'm going with him again, I just think his too much of a superior boxer and will be able to outbox and possibly stop him.
I think some of you who think Alvarado can't bang with Rios are just going by the stoppage, which was, or at least could be argued that it was a tad bit premature, Alvarado was trying to fight on, the ref from california stopped it, like they do when someone is in mild trouble.
I will say this about the stoppage though, I can see how it was stopped because of the damage that both fighters did to one another, but the fact of the matter is, Alvarado should've been given a chance to see if he could make it out of the round. we've seen guys allowed to continue that were in way worse condition and some of those lead on to be GREAT fights and the downed fighter coming back to win.
Alvarado was hanging in there banging away on the inside, holding his own and winning a good number of the exchanges, Rios wasn't by NO MEANS running away with the fight, Alvarado got caught with a great shot, the same could've happened to Rios by the way they were going at it, Rios just got their first and won that exchange.....
Alvarado, I would think, I would hope, has made the adjustments needed to pull off the win. He has the skill, he's marketable, he's never been in a dull fight, just like Rios.... the best thing that could happen is Alvarado wins tonight and they have a 3rd match, the rubber match!!!
I expect nothing but another high action shoot out between the two, but in hopes Alvarado makes the right adjustments this time around.
and Don't confuse my rooting and pulling for Alvarado as hate towards Rios, I am a huge fan of Rios, both fighters are an huge ASSET to boxing, I am just an Alvarado fan more because I scouted him out a long time ago and was super impressed with his fight game as well as his professionalism.... that and in these cases I always tend to go with the underdog, because that's usually my role in life too as a Stand Up Comedian.....
MAY THE BEST MAN WIN!!!
I had Alvarado last time and I have him this time too.
I felt that he was winning very handily at the beginning but he let Rios, the crowd and his pride lure him into a slugfest.
He won't this time, he'll flex the jab, step around and bang the body en route to a unanimous decision.
If he's smart at least.
Also if he is going to use that Philly shell he must tuck that chin behind his shoulder and roll with the right hand. He let Rios land too many rights on him easily.
With that being said Alvarado by UD.
Alvarado showed he can't bang w/Rios @ can't really outbox him at least not for 12 rounds so he either gets stopped sooner or survives longer.
Alvarado is not a boxer he's a brawler who has to box bcse Rios is more manly that's why he looks uncomfortable and out of place trying it so if he loses it won't be a result of him not being smart or trading too much, it'll be bcse a overtweeted Rios is better at beating fighters up.
Great post a lot of good points, but i must say that i felt he was working the jab really well in their first fight

im going out on a limb and side with alvarado on this one. I was on the fence the first time around but this time i feel like alvarado is going to stick to the game plan and not stand there and trade with rios. Ko, im not so sure
They are evenly matched so I can understand that many are picking Alvarado to turn things around this time. Rios is a very game, tough, determined fighter and I think he is in really good shape for this fight as is Alvarado.Rios seems to thrive on a slugfest. The longer it goes the more he starts to wear the other guy down and take over. I think it will be another great war with Rios stopping him again in the late rounds.

I picked Rios the first time and I'm picking Rios this time.
I think, like the first time, Alvarado will have success but Rios will end up breaking him down and stopping him.
Rios is better in most area's IMO.
I picked Alvarado to win last time and thought he was well on his way until the stoppage.
If I were a manager or promoter I would never have a fighter fight in california, they have too many premature stoppages there, either by the ref or the doctor. I thought Alvarado should've been able to continue, at least for a few seconds to see where he really was mentally at the time.
With that being said, I think Alvarado is studying his ass off about what all happened last fight and I think he's going to make the proper adjustments to get the win.
Rios is always game to fight and always ready, at the very least mentally, but I think htat Rios has had a lot of media attention and distraction as well as he's been tweeting a lot.
All the while there is next to nothing with Alvarado, none or at the very minimum press coverage and media and next to no tweets if any at all. I think Alvarado is going to stick to his boxing game plan this time and get the Unanimous Decision.
Rios is stating that he's going to try and get Alvarado out of there before 5 round, which would be very impressive, but I think Rios head hunting is going to be his undoing if Alvarado sticks to his game plan.
Mile High Mike by UD this fight setting up an AWESOME TRILOGY! I sure as **** hope so, these guys are a great style match up.....
I think he could win by Decision forcing a 3rd Match but it would probably be by Decision, but he has to fight SMART, if not then Rios chops him down again
