As the thread title says- What fighters, who have not quite made it to the top of the sport, do you think you will speak to the next generation about and why will you mention them?
I will start with two examples.
Malignaggi- I don't think he is a fighter who will make it into the hall of fame for his performances in the ring and I have never seen him as an exceptional fighter. What I admire about him is his toughness an his previous ability to compensate for his lack of power with slickness that befuddled certain fighters. I will always have respect for his performance against Cotto.
Katsidis- Extremely limited as a fighter, always lost on the big stage and never won a world title but what guts. He's one of the few fighters where I can say ''He hasn't bored me in any of his match ups''.
there will be a ton...and I'm sure I'll have a lot of explaining to do when they access boxrec and take a look at the losses of my favorite fighters...
"Grandpaw... who is Junior Jones?" Uhhhhh maybe another time son... it's time for bed.
--a couple I thought of
Israel Vazquez - Of course the great fights with Rafa but I really loved the Larios fights too, and Gonzalez off my head. A lot of other good fights in between.
riddick bowe
Margarito
paul williams
Jermain Taylor - biased pick. and by the time I'm 70, JT would have gotten at least 65% better due to the nostalgia factor and my own memory loss.
For me it's guys like Bert Cooper, Mugabi, Augustus, etc. Guys that fought everybody in their era and were tough as nails, but just couldn't get over the hump.
Sh*t, Augustus is a great one. That's exactly the fighter I'll take the time to explain to my kids about if they Boxrec'd him and saw the losses.
Saw someone mention Matthysse, his HOF chances are pretty slim considering his age. If he continues to be a bad man for a few more years, he's a good one too.

El Maromero
Steven Cunningham
Malignaggi
Delvin Rodriguez
Mayorga
Maidana
And I will make Yori Boy Campos and Golden Johnson jokes around them even through theyll have no idea what I'm talking about.
I didn't realize that he was ever inducted. El Chapo was a bad little man though, gave Camacho all that he could handle while crushing Camachos heart to fight from that fight on. I'll have to look at his resume, my initial thought was that it wasn't a bad resume. Be right back............. Rockin':boxing:
compared to the best fighters in the hall, or the hall as a total, i'd say it's a relatively weak resume. compared to all boxers, though, it's a tremendous resume.
He wasn't the greatest but I always liked Luis Collazo (spelling?), good fighter.
Also, Joseph Kwianuka. Fought with him out of Galaxy. One tough, intimidating fighter but a super nice guy.
Edwin Rosario, Ka-dy King, Oba Carr, Fernando Vargas, Freddie Pendelton, Wilbur Johnson....... There are a bunch of guys that I really liked that won't be in there............ Rockin':boxing:
rosario is a great example of a weak resume that is in the hall of fame. he was inducted when i was at school.
