I was having a debate with some people as to how Floyd will look against Guerrero in comparison to Cotto last May. Though Floyd dominated most of the fight, he did have trouble with Cotto. But was it all Cotto or was it also Floyd not being the Floyd of old? I'm of the opinion that he may struggle and Guerrero will get shots in, but Floyd will still some what dominate.
Does anyone think he will have a tougher time against Guerrero?
Here is a good highlight of Guerrero before his move up. Don't be fooled into thinking he is a brawler with a bad D.
Hes a good, solid technician.
I think The Ghost has a trick or two up his sleeve and has been baiting people into thinking he can only fight an ugly, phone booth fight. He will do that at times but that long jab is coming out in this fight and I don't think Floyd will be expecting it. Floyd has likely only bothered to watch the Ghost's last two fights and will expect that kind of a fight.
You can't show all your cards at one time....he has been solely focused on a Floyd fight the last 2 years and I think the last two fights were just him trying to work on his inside game. He is a VERY GOOD technician who can stick and move with the best of them, he has a better jab than Cotto does imo.
I really don't think Guerrero has anything in his arsenal to make Floyd look worse than Cotto's jab could. I think Floyd is way past it regardless, but will look better in this outing.
I hope the frustration really gets to him and makes him blame Jesus for his loss in the post-fight interview. I'm tired of seeing fighters thank him for victories, it's about time someone blamed him for a loss. :lol1:
You can only blame yourself for not trying enough and for not asking God for the drive and strength to push through the times where you wanted to quit. If God "wanted" a person to fail, it's only for them to gain the insight through retrospect that they need to succeed on the next try.
Cotto is a much more accomplished fighter than Robert.
Robert doesn't do anything exceptionally well. He's like Tim Bradley's taller hispanic cousin. Exceptional heart, solid boxer with below average power for the weight class. Solid fighter but no where near the caliber of Cotto let alone FMJ.
This is the same Guerrero that lost to Orlando Salido at lightweight. Salido out boxed Robert for crying out loud. Just imagine what Money will do to this guy? Let't not forget that Floyd.s best punch is a right hand counter. The same punch one eyed Berto was tagging him with all night long. Robert won't see the 6 round.
The Ghost is a southpaw for starters and he isn't going to show Floyd any respect. Expect Ghost to hit on the break, rabbit punch, and rough Floyd up when he wants to find space. I think the Ghost will show more than one facet of his game, he will likely box in spots and make it a rough in-fight at times.
Floyd may very well win but I think he looks the worst he has ever looked in this fight.
Guerrero will be easier for Floyd. Cotto has good timing and came in with a good gameplan. Guerrero's plan will most likely be pressure and many punches, which leaves many opportunities for counter punches.
Ive been saying this to everyone I think the first round guerrero is gonna come out throwing bombs while floyd trys to find range and get his timing. I wouldnt be surprised to see a flash knockdown of Floyd in the 1st or second. Once he gets up hes going to embarass Guerrero for the rest of the fight especially at 147.
Flash knockdown???? You smoking that **** 2 huh!!!
Guerrero has the heart, but not the ability.
Floyd is just on another level.
Unless Floyd has deteriorated a lot since his last fight this is going to be a UD12.
he has neither. we all saw the yordan fight. when things don't go his way he quits. enjoy another quittage or at least i hope we get another sucker punch ko.
Guerrero was a good featherweight but it is no secret this is a just a comeback bout for Mayweather, a tune up!
Mayweather would not fight a guy like Cotto now. I think this is a mismatch and a record padder for Floyd.

He's not a good solid technician. He's one dimensional. If you take a look at all his difficult fights, he dogfights. Always. Against Salido, where he lost, he was dogfighting. Berto, dogfighting. Aydin, dogfighting. Plantanas Diaz, years ago, dogfighting, and he still lost.
When he's facing pushovers, that aren't that good in the first place, or over the hill, he tends to box. But by no means is he a solid technician. And he's definitely not in the same league as a guy like Cotto. Guerrero would NOT, and I mean, WOULD NOT beat Cotto if they were to face each other. Only the delusional, in my opinion, actually thinks Guerrero is better than Cotto.
I wouldve loved to see may and trout/may and s. martinez. With may's picks lately i wouldnt be surprised if may challenged paul williams next, lol
Trout may not even get passed Canelo & Sergio is a middleweight who is tied up. Floyd can barely even make 154.
Its almost unless he goes up to heavyweight to face Wlad some people will never be happy.
I think the Cotto fight will prove to be tougher. Floyd should be sharper at 147. The thing that impressed me most about Cotto was how much he made Floyd miss and blocked punches with his gloves. Guerrero on the other hand will be there to be hit and Floyd should be able to exploit that.
I voted that Guerrero will give him a harder fight. Floyd will be one year further over the hill with a year of ring rust. Guerrero is dead in his prime unlike Cotto who was past prime and had taken beatings from Margarito and Pacquiao. Guerrero has a high pressure style somewhat simular to Castillo who gave Floyd trouble. He is a good natural southpaw with a rough, physical style, good stamina, and a high work rate for all 12 rounds. All of these things make me think this will be a harder fight for Floyd than Cotto was.
He fights nothing like Marg...did you see how much he got tagged in the Berto fight? Did you see how his defense was non existant in the Berto fight? If the same Guerrero that fought Berto shows up for the Mayweather its going to be a lopsided victory for floyd and im pretty sure that floyd is betting on that....thats why he chose to fight him.
Guerrero is his mandatory & ranked #3 behind only Floyd & Marquez (who he already easily beat)
Most of the top 154 crop are already scheduled, inactive/in law suits or just absolutely rubbish so who would you like him to fight instead?
He better, Guerrero is a Super Featherweight and Floyd is a Junior Middleweight that put on alot of muscle.
IF Guerrero takes more than 2 rounds it'll show how overrated Floyd is
