Showtime will never "win" against HBO over the long-term if they don't show live fights... LIVE for west coast cable subscribers. I'm out here living on the west coast and in order for me to watch a fight live on showtime I have to stream it on the internet. I'm sure that is what everyone does on the west coast because they can't get it live. That is a huge loss in subscription numbers and it sucks for GBP.
nah, it's the other way around, GBP just produce fighters but it's HBO who turns them into stars. GBP made a big mistake when they listened to haymon who cares for no one but himself, they're so blinded of the easy buck, they do not think of the long term
However the majority of people on the west coast have comcast and they don't get Showtime live. for instance if the fight starts at 9:30 ET/PT we on the west coast literally have to wait until 9:30 PM to see a fight that has already happened and everyone is already talking about it on twitter and it just sucks. All those subscribers go down the drain because they wanna watch it live so they stream it on the internet.
There was a considerable drop in production quality after the HBO Sports guy was replaced; but it was only noticeable to hardcore fans/TV people.
I think this will considerably hurt GBP, though. Nobody has Showtime, it'll just further marginalize the business.
GBP has the roster in the divisions that matter. So Showtime will be fine. They could have Super Six tournaments in 140 thru 154 because they have those divisions on lock. HBO will have nothing but a bunch of recycled fights.
Divisions that matter? What Matters to Golden boy and what matters to boxing are two different things.
Every division matters.
You're red tho, ah well have fun watching 3 divisions.
Arum will die within a few years who knows what will happen with Top Rank then.
It doesnt make sense for HBO to completely write off all of GBP. But the HBO sports guy can always be fired and they can work together again in another 5 years or whatever,
Well, it's fine by me.. Dish offered us Showtime for less than half the price for the remainder of our contract when we called to cancel it awhile back. :lol1:
Well then the issue is with Comcast only because Showtime doesn't show fights live out here on the west coast. Many people have comcast and that is still a huge demographic of subscribers gone down the drain who will just stream the fights live on their computers. Mark my words this Hurts GBP more than it helps them

Showtime subscription is not a common thing to many people. All I have is HBO. If fans get lucky, Showtime might show it for free or with ads like the Cotto/Trout.
What? I'm in Cali and get like 6 different Showtime channels on DishNetwork. All the fights I've watched have been live, it's not the same for all service providers?
same here brother i got dish and direct t.v i get them live aswell, unless they aint live and we just think they are in wich case i dont care, but anyway yeah i do prefer hbo boxing tbh.

No HD east is a problem for those on the west that happen to get live fights.
we don't even get regular definition live out here on the west coast. we have to stream all live showtime fights live.

HBO not doing fights with GBP anymore is worse for them | BoxingScene Community
