Bute stood in front of Froch. Dirrell ran away and refused to engage and Froch couldn't nail him.
If you think Dirrell beats Golovkin I'll happily wager points on the matter if the fight is ever made.
You compared Froch and Abraham in their inability to cut off the ring, that was stupid. Froch is an opponent that's much harder to keep off of you, even Ward in the last 2 rounds couldn't keep him at bay. Froch did nail Dirrell a couple times and Dirrell nailed him back, in fact Froch is the only one who got stunned in the fight.
Is GGG better than Froch? Skillwise I'd say yeah but he has yet to prove it against elite opposition, and I'm not a Froch fan at all while GGG is one of my favorite fighters.
GGG has yet to beat an elite skilled boxer at 160 so picking him to beat a top 4 SMW is going overboard.
Carl Froch doesn't cut off the ring? :pat:

It is with Dirrell, he wants no part of an actual fight and you just can't run from Golovkin given his footwork. He's not Carl Froch or Arthur Abraham, he will cut off the ring and get in his opponent's face.

Yeah it's that simple. :lol1:

$500k is nothing. You think a fighter just gets $500k and walks away with it all jolly to the bank? Rodriguez would be lucky, after every one gets their cut, to even have half of that "half a million".
Refer to the Juan Manuel Marquez article quoting him saying how much he actually takes home after paying taxes and giving every one their cut.
When people say "Damn, this fighter turned down this much ." I know they don't even know what they're talking about.
According to official NSAC documents, Erik Morales got a guarantee $350k against Pablo Cano, he really only took home a mere $90k.
Yeah sure fighters only take home a small amount of their purse but the point is it's still better than no purse at all. How much will Rodriguez make in his next fight? Why did he turn down half a mil to fight a smaller man?
another name to add to the Mayweather "duck" list, GGG should give ward his rematch from the olympics
That was Dirrell, and that'd be an interesting fight if he ever comes back
and canelo is most likely floyd's first option for his next fight if he beats trout, if martinez is serious about floyd he should come down to 154 and prove he can still be effective at that weight......my point is you were acting as if ggg was great option for floyd @154 when ggg hasn't even done much in his own weight class.
Fine. I don't think this is a callout to be taken serious. But I noticed several Floyd fans laboring to point out Floyd is a welter, so somehow off bounds at 154. It goes against his billing as 2x SWW champ, currently ranked #1 everywhere. You'd expect a guy like that to be willing to take on anyone at the weight.
I'm not big on Canelo, but if he gets past Trout he'll have proven a lot. And obviously would be Floyd toughest h2h matchup in a while. So big credit to Floyd if he goes that route, but I'm seeing some of his fans already preemptively excusing him from fighting natural SWWs.
no Ward? no Dawson or Froch?...WTF is going on with the game?...too many thirsty cats and not enough hungry lions.... Floyd is 13 pounds away and the great B.Hop is 15 pounds away....must be a publicity stunt...I don't think the dude is that corny...just gonna give him the benefit of doubt...I guess he needs more twitter huggers or something...both kings would school him IMO but neither resume would be enhanced by doing so
It's not like Golovkin isn't trying to make fights in his division. No one at the top will fight him. This seems more like a "I'll fight anyone" type thing to say.
GGG isn't the best so whats your point?
No but Sergio is, and would go down. Canelo definitely isn't the best either, but he's better than Cotto/Guerrero h2h, and at this point the biggest money fight around. If he gets past Trout, all the more so, he's gonna be huge.
Who?
Only one I know (don't know if it was a career high payday) was Quillien turning down a title shot for whatever reason after saying he'd do anything for it on showtime
Lots of guys have turned it down, not sure it's a career payday for each. Most had a single decent money shot on HBO, which skews the figures. But for example, Macklin took something like 75k for Alcine, while guys on the Golovkin Proksa undercard got 125k+. He had first dibs at the headliner, and a shot at his first world title.

Is he? His last bout was at 154. Has he given up the belt yet? I haven't seen anyone remove him from #1 spot in 154 rankings yet. Isn't it fair to assume he'd be willing to defend against the best, like a champ should?

So what's your point, it's better to take 75k and walk away with 25?

Yeah I know theres fees, taxes etc. My point was it was a fighter turning down what would be the most he's ever made in a fight. And yeah even still after all the fees, taxes etcare deducted it would still be the most he has ever made. Remember angulo turned down 750K to fight sergio? You dont think hes kicking himself in the asss for that?
Gennady is basically calling out anyone who is willing to fight him - absolutely nothing wrong with it.
The most reasonable fight would be either Martinez or Geale. But how to make them fight him. Gennady is undefeated IBO, WBA champion and many do think he is a next big thing. If that's not reason enough to fight him and don't know what is...
Whom else should Martinez fight? Chavez again? what then?
