I don't think that they(Rigos camp)have enought money to pay Gamboa's services..if they're friends then it's another story..
Gamboa is all offense and no defense, it would be a horrible partner choice.
No other fighters fight with their style so who could they spar with to prepare?
I don't know who donaire is sparring but if he trained in Oxnard he could have Javier Fortuna spar with him. About the same height as rigo but 4 pounds north of 122. shouldn't make a difference tho. Rigo needs to work on his right hand lead jab because its the weakest punch he has and against donaire, you want that punch to be effective
I heard because they both have upcoming fights and are from Nor Cal that Donaire and Guerrero were training with each other?

That's who I was thinking for Rigo... Aside Marroquin, probably anybody big ('30, '35 lber) with some speed.
As for Donaire... I don't know, just find shorter southpaws who counter. Would hesitate to find the bigger southpaws as well ('30-'35)
Donaire need to call the Penalosa Brothers, I think they're southpaw, Those guys are good prospects! Their Father was used to be an asst coach to Doanire!
No hell. No f*cking way dude. :lol1:
Hmmm he hurt the guy with a left hook then dropped him with a right. He fights kinda weird tho. What is he like a LW?
Looks like it. Didn't see it on Twitter. He's tall but doesn't look fast at all.
Not so sure about that, maybe the fact that Gamboa is physically stronger, but Donaire is more athletic and could be just as fast.

Looks like 1 of Rigo's sparring partners is Canadian, Logan Mcgguiness.

I know the other day that Donaire sparred with one of Robert Garcia's guys, Vic Pasillas,, undefeated featherweight prospect (3-0)..
I caught a recent sparring session of Pasillas' if anyone wants to check it out... He next fights on the Bradley-Provodnikov card this Saturday
It funny cuz when i showed the rigo and solis pic to my dude Bodia , he said to me why is rigo sparring with the guy that sells tacos across the street? lmao when i explained to him who he was he said good he thought rigo must've been thinking donaire got the super punch so got a sparring partner that is 200 lbs heavier than him
Don't think there's any chance this would happen, and they don't have exact styles, but I think Anselmo Moreno would be a good sparring for Donaire to prepare for Rigo.

We're definitely not going to see eye-to-eye on this issue. Gamboa is like a mini-Roy Jones. I don't think Donaire matches him in either speed or athleticism.
That's what I thought. Rigo has experience sparring and fighting Yuri from their amateur days in Cuba, so he might be somewhat used to Gamboa; but Yuri provides speed and athleticism even Donaire cannot match. I think it's a good choice for Guillermo.
It's tough for either of these guys to find someone to help effectively prepare for the other. They're elite. Rigondeaux has the good fortune to have a fellow Cuban he actually knows, who is an elite fighter as well.

I think Rigo's style is harder to emulate than Donaire's. You can find a counter puncher with good speed and tell him to imitate Rigo but that won't work. Since it won't be natural to him he'll probably look sloppy and make it easier on Donaire to do his work.
Exactly, good post. I mean, just watching Rigo perform... the guy is amazing. There's still question about his punch resistance but landing clean is a feat within itself. I mean, and I know this is an absolute stretch, Joan Guzman is probably the closest active fighter that somewhat resembles Rigo defensively.
Guzman is able to drop his hand and use solid footwork and head movement. Maybe Donaire could bring him in solely for that, not even actual sparring but just dealing with the defense.
Yeah I'm sure Pedro Diaz knows what he's doing more than myself but I'm thinking that it may be helpful to use multiple sparring partners that will give him different looks to prepare for Donaire. I don't think one guy in particular can completely mimick a fighter like Nonito.
I'm certain they'll use several guys, that's just the way it's done, but Gamboa is the only name guy I can think of that'll truly be an asset in sparring for Rigo.
