It finally hit me right now, that we as true boxing fans were denied of a history defining fight for welterweight supremacy (for this era). I did let it go when both camps kept BS'n over: test's, arena's, needles, promotional issues, jail, etc.. and was fine because I got sick of the run around sh1t. Now that the dust has settled I am pissed off that we were denied the opportunity to see who was the legit "king of da ring".
Though I favored Floyd to win and even though Manny got starched by JMM, I still think that either men could have won if they would have fought.
Anyhow, another moment where us fans get railed in the a$$ and you know what, what a fuc%in dissapointment, shame on you Floyd and Manny, you fuc%in a$$ fu$ks!!!:fu2: :feedback:
How do you feel at this point, now that this fight will never happen at its peak?
PS: IMO both were at fault, no blame game on this thread.
Not saying Floyd won't get more of the flack, and he should. He left the sport instead of taking on the biggest challenges in 2008 and didn't even attempt to negotiate the fight in mid 2010 and after. And that $40 million buyout offer was complete BS.
But even guys like Rafeal have written plenty about Bob Arum saying he didn't know who to call in late 2011 after Floyd tweeted he wanted the fight or wanting to build outdoor stadiums. History will also show that they had a contract in place in 2010 but Manny backed out due to testing.
Both guys legacy will be affected by not doing what was right for the sport, and rightfully so.
Fair point. Although I'll continue to respectfully disagree.
It's the future hit pieces and books that will be written that I'm referring to here. Judging by the ways I've seen various themes indexed and regurgitated after almost 10 years posting on this particular forum I highly doubt your overall assertion. When the music stops it will be Floyd who's left standing without a chair.
No. History will not.
"History" will be written by men like Nigel Collins, Dan Rafael and the rest of them. Maybe you haven't been keeping track of the situation.

Yea it kills me how posters on boxing forums call boxers cowards
Clearly my reference was to how other people will regard Floyd.
Not myself. Einstein.
But since it kills you so much you may want to log off either way.
At this point I give both sides 50/50 on the blame. Neither side could put their ego's or hurt feelings aside to do what was best for the sport. This is the fight boxing needed. Boxing has been a niche sport since the late 90's and this would have signaled the comeback.
I think history will look down on both fighters legacy for not making it happen.

This is the single biggest disgrace in the history of boxing. And we are talking about a sport poisoned with corruption and greed.
That is how I feel right now, and this is absurd that it has even come to this point. Both would have made a$$ loads of $$ too.
That's not the only fallout. Floyd "Money" Mayweather's legacy will be forever tarnished as a ducker and a coward. That's not what any true boxing fan wanted for Jr. Had he faced the best and beaten them all (as the overwhelming majority would expect) I think we'd all be happier and healthier for it. That's not quite reality however..
Real post right here! Everyone else, both are at fault.
