I don't understand this dude
I don't get the Floyd emulation. Why, why oh, why would he want to be a second rate Mayweather (he will never be Floyd) when he could be a star in his own right? I saw a great interview with him by Luis Sandoval, he was almost charming. He was funny and not so obnoxious.
His twitter outbursts are cringe worthy at times. I want to like him, but I just don't know ...
Completely agree. The Mayweather comparisons are overdone. There are similarities you can point to, but for the most part it's a view touted by casual fans who don't think there's anything more to Floyd than the philly shell and trash talking.
Well, no.
I think the Floyd comparasions are in large part to do with the fact that Broner was the one to start them? So now people get mad that he is criticized for it? It makes no sense to me. If dude calls himself the next money may he is asking for the comparasions. Don't ya think?:rolleyes::rolleyes:
You must be slow.
Just because Floyd earned those things being Floyd, doesn't mean Broner will earn those things being Floyd.
This is probably the stupidest post in the entire thread. If that's the case, I am going to emulate the Queen of England, sit back and wait for my money to roll in.
Don't forget to bow on your way out.
fucking ether :lol1:
I personally think that Broner fights more like James Toney than Floyd.

You don`t get why Broner Emulates Floyd?Have you seen Floyd`s mansion?Have you seen his car with diamonds on the sun roof?Or did you fall down the steps bump your head and go into a coma which cause you to miss all those things?

Broner's got a very exciting, fan freindly style and is very gifted, great to watch. The down side is that he's a complete muppet and I can't help but want to see him knocked out.

Inside game and body movement, I don't think I've ever seen him box like Floyd so that comparison made was ridiculous from the start unless they meant the demographic he is supposedly reaching to. The shoulder roll has been around forever.
At the end of the day when a fighter steps into the ring your not viewing his personality, your watching him box. All that hype bull**** gets thrown out of the window. If you like Broner as a fighter, then you like him, if your not a fan of his style, then theres your answer.
When it comes to Broner I think he is a very good fighter and getting better all the time. As a person outside the ring I don't think I will ever like him. He is too disrespectful of other fighters. He brags way to much when he has not really done all that much. He calls out fighters he has no intention of fighting. He often acts like a clown and a fool and he is still making that tired joke about "anyone can get it". In general I think he is an annoying guy and copies Mayweather to the point of being ridiculous. He is a damn good fighter in his own right and does not need to be the new Mayweather. He is probably more exciting to watch than Mayweather because of his punching power and attacking style. I would like him much more if he would just shutup and fight.
Great post
I dunno, his combinations remind me of Younger Mayweather, of course Mayweather today's combinations and Broners look nothing alike.
No, again Broner's lead right hand, jab to the body and defensive posture is Floyd-esque somewhat, everything else, that's Broner's game. Broner's combinations may be deadlier but it's also more reckless, Floyd would never throw a right hooks then follow it up with a left hook, Broner tends to do that.
They have two entirely different approaches man, some of the similarities are the stance, jab to the body and the way Broner arches his lead right hand, that's about it. Broner however has a counter left hook that he uses with far more consistency than Floyd, he's also an uppercut artist in close, throws right hooks to the body when he has his opponent pinned to the ropes, he's a more committed puncher. Again, some similarities, nothing wrong with that but two entirely different approach in the ring. The way they throw combinations aren't even close to the same either.

I'm sorry, when I watch Broner fight it doesn't look natural. It looks like he's trying to emulate Mayweather as much as he does out of the ring.

That is why I expect Broner to get his ass whooped one day, and it might be good for him. He doesn't fight naturally, he looks like he is trying to do what he thinks Mayweather would do in that situation. The punches he throws, when he rolls away, the head shake, its all trying to imitate Mayweather what he thinks Mayweather would do at that exact moment.
You can't fight like that and get away with it against really good or great competition.
I predicted this yesterday to my boxing buddies..they think Broner is the best thing since sliced bread.
