Recently Floyd's opponents have come off impressive wins. Just winning a fight doesn't seem to be enough, you seem to need an impressive win in order for the public to wanna pay to see you face Floyd.
As hardcores we know Ginger is the logical choice, but if he struggles with Trout (a basic unknown to the casuals), a Floyd/Canelo fight loses steam.
I think that's one of the reasons a guarantee wasn't given, Canelo/Trout was Gingers audition on Floyd's card.
Canelo struggling but winning is just not enough, cause to those who witnessed it Floyd would be seen as "cherry picking".
But if Canelo destroys Trout (Mosley/Marg, Victor/Berto, Robert/Berto), it has all the steam it needs.
I doubt Floyd's avoiding Canelo, Canelo has to bring it impressively to convince people to pay to see it.
But if he fizzles, it's a waste in the casuals/majority's eyes.
What you think?
Mayweather should still fight him but it would damage a Mayweather win. Mayweather need a Canelo dominating win because the moment the fight ends everyone would claim Mayweather would duck Canelo, but if you look through his PPV history Mayweather has only fought people whose last fight were impressive up to the point where people think he wouldn't take that fight, So by taking that fight alone he sells an extra numbers of PPV because he has sucked those suckers in.
This is exactly why it's absurd for people to accuse Floyd of ducking by not signing a contract. What if Canelo gets dominated and the judges rob Trout? It makes no sense for Floyd to do something as stupid as signing a contract so soon.. He's never done it before, why would he all of a sudden make a terrible business move just to appease a 22 year old who has only fought sh1t opposition?Exactly, he did that with Judah and now what do people say about it "He fought Judah comming off a loss".. Ain't no pleasing a hater
Why don't you clowns stop mentioning Canelo's name? Do you really think Floyd will fight him if he beats Trout? Who are you kidding? Fact that your idol who calls himself "Money" chose a guy with six fans over a Mexican star means he will never fight the ginger kid.
Canelo is moving on and realized he will never get a shot at Floyd, win or lose to Trout. You clowns need to start accepting the fact that your idol is a duck. In the first place do you really believe Mayweather will fight in September? You gotta be a bum to believe that.
is that why he moved on or was it becasue floyd wouldn't sign to guarantee him a fight? WOuldn't it make sense for floyd not to guarantee someone a fight on showtime since he has an out in the showtime deal?
the funny part about reading recycled BS like u just posted is, you can go back and replace Ginger with multiple names and Floyd eventually fought and beat um LOL...
Answer the question. Do you really believe your idol will fight in September? It's a simple question.

Yeah if you change the question to:
"Would Canelo-Floyd sell better if Canelo destroys Trout?" then the answer is clearly yes.
But if Canelo wins he's still the most obvious choice.its prize fighting man, we all know the dollar dictates.
A fighter who faces Floyd NEEDS to be comming in on a high note.
Struggling with Trout WILL NOT convince the casual fans Canelo is a legit threat to Floyd (Just being real man).
I agree with what you're saying, but a struggling Canelo hurts the hype/sales.

I disagree. Casual fans can be unaware but they all still know who Floyd is and they all still know who Cotto is. They all saw (what some say on this site is Floyd struggling with Cotto) so once they know that Trout (easily to some here) beat Cotto then a Canelo win will be impressive no matter what. Infact, it could be seen as even more impressive if Canelo does have a tough fight with himThats one hell of a spin, but I can see your point.
Respectfully, I think you're under thinking this. I agree with 99.999% of what you said, but you have to admit, Canelo destroying Trout damn near doubles the hype. But Canelo struggling would hurt sales & the legitimacy of that match up.
We as hardcores lose site sometimes that boxing is a business.
I think canelo simply has to win, but I agree a KO victory would enahnce Canelo.
I'm sure them being Mexican Americans and coming off impressive wins has a whole lot to do with it. That's why he makes the fights on Mexican holidays. The "us vs them" situation has always sold fights.
OOPs, wrong thread.... If Canelo looks bad, Floyd shouldn't fight him, but he probably would. If Canelo looks great, I wouldn't be surprised if Floyd avoids him.
The casual fans are not the ones spewing about Floyd ducking left and right.
Canelo is bigger with the casual fans than anyone else that Floyd can fight, so why wouldn't he? The exposure a large part of the casuals have of Devon Alexander is his shameful performance against Bradley.
The Casuals will eat up whatever they are hyped into believing. It's much easier to hype an undefeated Mexican kid than it is anyone at 147.Struggling with Trout WILL NOT convince the casual fans Canelo is a legit threat to Floyd (Just being real man).

Respectfully, I think you are over thinking this a little too much. As long as floyd and Canelo both win, regardless of how, there will still be fans both hardcore and casual, that want to see them fight. Both have high enough name value that either struggling wont curb enthusiasm for the fight IMO.Respectfully, I think you're under thinking this. If you understand that the casual fan makes up 90% of the paying audience it makes perfect sense.
Boxing for the most part is/has always been in the state it's in cause casuals rule.
What we want comes second, but if the guy we want makes his case, then the casuals usually follow
