Guess nothing is pleasing this guy, we're here trying to help him out but nothing here is "academic" for this prick.
Go and write about the Fl omo-Pact ard war you damn schoolgirl and stop whoring for attention.
Well damn, lol my bad bro. I appreciate all the ideas thrown out here and I ran some of them by my professor but he's hesitant to approve any of them for me. I wanted to do something on boxing, so I thought "what better place to ask about a good persuasive topic than on A ****ING BOXING FORUM?" I would love to do some of these topics though.

Whether Arturo Gatti should have been admitted to the Hall of Fame.
In your argument you could go into what the HOF really stands for, entertainment of fights versus getting the W, impact of death on how we remember rate sports stars etc.
It's basically already written for you across the web.
This is actually very good.
Also, you could talk about how you feel boxing has evolved/devolved over time as it's a very prominent argument all over boxing forums.
he's asking about it on a boxing forum.
my estimation of it's importance, and his ability to produce, are based on that.
A boxing forum is probably a good place to go when you need ideas for a boxing essay to be fair.
There are some very clever people and great writers on here, there's a chance he might get something.
As for the TS: I also did a Discursive Essay on boxing and I wrote about how boxing should not be banned. I didn't do all that good in it because I "ranted" a bit too much. I was warned by my teacher not to do something I was passionate about but I just ignored it and went on.
Come on man, give the dude a break.
This is probably an important piece of work and he wants to get it right.
I'm kidding for the most part of coarse, but there's some good topic ideas posters are coming up with and it seems like he's snobbishly brushing them off.

Good topics, but a lot of those aren't persuasive. I have to try to change how someone feels about something...
You could right about how the sport of boxing allows almost anyone to compete in terms of age and size. Some countries allow you to start fighting at the age of 15 or 16. And there aren't too many professional sports that a 100lb 5' foot man can compete in besides being a jockey.
the small divisions always get **** on in America, but many of these little guys are huge in their respective countries in Asia and Latin America.
that's easy, mexicans won't forgive him for beating chavez
It goes a bit beyond that. De La Hoya challenged the idea of mexican masculinity and was hated before beating Chavez. He didn't represent them and seemed more like a celebrity. Plus his fighting style and personality turned them off as well. Mexican fans didn't see Oscar as having that Mexican toughness, even before Chavez.
That's all i could come up with. The problem is what academic group would care about that? Law majors?
Most academics would consider boxing barbaric thus think it should be gotten rid of (unless academics have changed since I was in school which I don't think they have). Also anyone concerned with health and brain damage so medical students. Just look at all the heat the NFL is getting for the health of it's participants~
Why boxing should be banned?
AS a boxing fan that is kind of a crappy topic, but there are so many ills to the sport and not that many clear fixes given the stakeholders various interests never aligning.

It HAS to be academic..meaning it has to do with something like; the economics of the sport, the medical aspect of the injuries, or the legal aspect of it being banned. Not sure which direction I wanna go.

Ahh this is so hard. I think I have to stick with my topic of corruption in boxing, the thing is though that's almost naturally a persuasive topic.-___-
I gave a persuasive speech about boxing once - it was right around May, so I wrote one out and went up there and tried to sell Mayweather/Mosley and convince people to buy it. It's hard to get people to part with their money, so I had to get specific about people could go about watching it - incentivize the reader. I told them about the $$ rebate from Tecate, explained how to throw a fight party, where to go for theaters, and how to buy tickets, etc, etc. Real specific information that instructs them on how to do what you're trying to get them to do. This is all in addition to giving the history of the fight/fighters itself to build that up, but the important part was really just getting people to watch it.
It was a speech so IDK how that would translate to paper but it qualified as a persuasive topic and I got a good grade for it. There were a lot of questions afterward so I think it got people thinking and talking at the least.
That's cool man, I did a similar thing in my Public Speaking class, but I did it on the Mosley-Pacquiao fight (which was happening that month). Funny thing is I didn't really care for the fight or either fighter :lol1: Even funnier was the fact that the fight turned out to be complete crap :lol1: I hope I wasn't that convincing that I got people to actually spend money on it but oh well, I got my A.
