In his post fight interview he exposed himself.
He told Jim Gray dirty fighters bother him and that was why he struggled vs bogere.
If im his next opponent im pushing, wrestling, hitting behind the head, maybe even a low blow or 2 to frustrate Abril.
Am i the only one who thinks it was stupid of him to say that? :dunno:
In spanish he didn't say that they frustrate him or bother him, he actually said that he didn't like fighting with dirty fighters.
He was angry because of all the dirty tactics used by Bogere so what he said was more that he was so annoyed that Bogere was able to use all those dirty tactics in the fight.
I don't think it matters either way. I think it would be stupid for a fighter facing Abril to set up a game plan based on being a dirty fighter then they risk losing points or getting disqualified. It's not like he was in there saying "I don't like getting hit with lefts to the body that takes a lot out of me" It was a general statement not much for someone to capitalize on IMO and obviously he dealt with it to secure the W
If im his next opponent im pushing, wrestling, hitting behind the head, maybe even a low blow or 2 to frustrate Abril. Am i the only one who thinks it was stupid of him to say that? :dunno:No, he was actually very smart because he has had more experience with guys doing that, two in a row in fact. Both Rios and now Bogere so Abril now has more experience with guys like that then they have with fighting a guy like him. The next guy that comes along, Abril will know even more how to handle them cause they would be the 3rd one he has dealt with and he already dominated the last two. I bet they will not have fought two guys in a row like Abril, thats for damn sure. Checkmate Abril.
1. We all saw that he was bothered by a dirty fighter, doesn't matter whether he admits it or not, it's on tape.
2. Go ahead and be dirty against him, you'll lose points unless you're crafty enough to get away with it but only a handful of fighters are.
Dirty fighters bother everyone. Considering Abril got better as the fight went on, not worse, that's not exposing a weakness IMO. That's Abril rightfully complaining about the way his opponent fought.
Did he really? That sure would be noticed by anyone of his future opponents.
yup, he said dirty fighters frustrate him or something like that. stupid move imo.
Doesn't matter whether he told him or not. He just said he didn't like it and all one has to do is watch the tape and come to the conclusion. Either way he was able to deal with it and win.

Well who really deals well with a dirty fighter to begin with? Especially if the ref lets the dirty boxer cheat the entire fight? It's boxing not MMA.
If his next opponent wants to come in and low blow, headbutt, hit behind the head for the entire fight, then let them lose points and get DQ'd. It's understandable that stuff like that will occasionally happen during the fight but if that is your style, then you deserve to lose via DQ.
In a perfect world yes, but that's hardly ever the case. It's part of the game, some boxers are just dirty and get away with it. B-Hop with all his dirty vet tricks, Bradley with this head, Mares using people's balls as his personal speed bag, ect.

Most of the time interpreters butcher what boxers are saying. I speak Spanish, and I didn't take it as him confessing a weakness, it's more about him disliking the way that Borgere fought and taking subtle jabs at the ref. If anything, one can argue that Abril himself is a borderline dirty fighter with all the clinching.
It doesn't matter. All it takes it 1 film to see he looks worse against dirty fighters, then just do what the other guy did that made him look ordinary.
It would have been noted even if he didn't say it, who cares.
yup its apart of the sport. only the best can adjust and adapt to dirty fighters. if abril had a probably with bogeres head coming in he should hva ekept him at bay with the jab

Yea that is pretty dumb, although most guys don't like to deal with dirty fighters. it is part of the reason I accept dirty fighting so much because if a guy can't deal with it the other guy should be using those tricks.
