Or did it stay the same? Haters/critics will always be there and its impossible to please everybody so he's always gonna have criticism. But for the most part I see a lot of people around here "praising" his skillset. I noticed at the beginning of the fight the crowd was real bias towards Bogere, every time he swung they would cheer for the guy. As the fight went on those cheers started shifting towards Abril's side and they were even booing Mora when he warned Abril. So I think they started to appreciate what Abril was doing in there a little more.
I think the same will happen around this place as people watch him more often. You know, his style is like that ugly girl at work that you see everyday and interact with but then somehow you start finding something attractive about her cause you see her so much. :lol1:
I think his stock might've gone up a TINY BIT. Keep in mind its his second fight in Vegas. I didn't enjoy the fight, it was an ugly fight and Mora pissed me off but I definitely enjoyed watching Abril do his thing.
What? No lumping way. That wasn't even as boring as Russell's fight.
It was worse. Terrible fight to watch
Did you watch Devon Alexander vs Randall Bailey?
I actually didnt.
Wouldnt surprise me if that one was even worse though
abril = john ruiz 2.0For a guy who doesn't care to watch Abril, you dont mind spending the last 24 hours complaining about him. I don't like Liver but I would never spend that much time complaining about it. Move on with your life, damn.
I like Abril more than Broner so GTFOH. You see black boxers in my sig and make assumptions. But in actuality I expect nothing less from people like you.
I don't believe you. You're only saying that to stick to your crap.
Wait till your hero Broner gets schooled by Abril and you'll take all of that bs back. Broner is the bigger guy in the Reese fight and he didn't have to employ any of that clinching and hugging bs to control distance.

Do people understand what they are watching when Abril fights?
He's a 5'10 lightweight with a long reach. What do you want him to do when his opponent closes the distance? How should he be fighting these shorter brawlers, volume punchers and sluggers? Should he be getting into meaningless exchanges and trying to show boxing fans that he has balls? GTFOH.
He either clinches or turns his opponents when they get close. He also defends himself very well with his elbows and shoulders. He does a great job at creating distance so he can follow through on his punches. He's got a sick jab which he doesn't use enough.
He's just a very smart, slick and crafty boxer that knows how to win. He gives anybody serious problems at 135.

With Casual Fans...HELL NO!
But some of you are full of sh1t though with your Double Standards
Against Rios you B!TCHED ABOUT HIS HOLDING...however against Bogere people was upset at the Ref for calling him out for his Holding so now I am all confused so I guess this Clinching is OK just depend on who it is against...so if he was to fight Broner it would be acceptable lol :pat:
Abril is just good a taking away what his opponents does best, once he frustrate you and you get desperate at trying to land something big...then he picks you apart
Then b*tch about Bogere. That's what I expected when I logged on today. I don't get why Abril is receiving all the negativity. Bogere was the one initiating all the dirty fighting. Abril just did what any fighter would do to keep himself from getting headbutted every five seconds.
Sh*tty entrance... well... that entrance is something else plus a sh*tty performance and the ACTUAL boxer gets bashed.
I got a feeling a lot of people don't fully understand what they are watching. You can tell by their comments.
Im fully convinced that you're right. There's more threads about Abril being "boring" than Bogere's wild tactics... that wasn't even boxing tbh.

It's boxing fans. What do you expect? lol

Abril wasn't even the most boring or the dirtiest fighter in the ring last night, why are people b*tching so much?
It's boxing fans. What do you expect? lol
yeah boring, how can your stock go up when your fight was a snooze fest and you are a point fighter?
Stock only goes up when you amaze and impress with slick crisp skill or warrior hearted action.
Abril is boring imagine a fight between him and Miguel Vazquez? they would need some track shoes in that fight.
i agree. Abril fought like shit...he had his hands down a lot, didn't impliment the jab to discourage Bogere from getting close, (not that Bogere did much anyway...boring fight from c-level fighters, imo. i won't watch either of these guys again.
well the difference is hopkins is a great fighter whilst abril is a b level fighter with a couple of losses
You get it. You just don't want to start another one of THOSE threads, and I don't blame you.
Hopkins who actually lost his pro debut and fights dirty as F*CK is a great fighter. Abril uses the clinch as a tactic and has some losses is a B level fighter.
Idk man. He said Hopkins does it to slow down the pace. Well, Abril does it to save himself from the fouls (last night) and so that the ref can break it up so he can have his space.
Hopkins is only as effective at his age as he is because he isn't held to the same standards as everyone else. The refs turn a blind eye to his cheating, because he's old and using "veteran tactics."
Both Hopkins and Mares, they are the dirtiest f*cks in the sport, and the refs always let them get away with it. Its completely unfair.
But people are complaining about Abril holding a little in a fight where a guy was lunging at him with his head. GTFOH.
