floyd's father trained him from early childhood through the amateurs. roger started floyd out, i believe, as a pro, because floyd sr was in prison. after he got out of prison he began to train floyd again, until they fell out, making roger his head trainer.
roger and floyd sr both fought as professionals. floyd fights a hell of a lot more like his father than his uncle.
Litzau, Kirkland, those were some of the guys Donaire beaten in the amateur. Ward was one of his close friends.
Donaire was beaten only by Viloria in the Olympic trials. He said was robbed in that fight. Donaire could've been a Gold medalist if he was not robbed in the trials. Donaire said. Him, his Brother, his Dad & team Stayed in the ring protesting the results! This story's from Donaire himself. Those were the things we've talked about!
Here's the video of that Day I met Nonito! I'm the cameraman:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cIlwEjAZ6y4
skill set that is taught to you in the boxing gym.no one teaches you to take a punch and keep walking the only thing i give margarito credit for is his body punching everything else that you are taught in the gym is either non existent or mediocre at best in margarito
If thats what skill is, Marg is very skilled, he was taught in a gym
if i'm not mistaken his only lost is to the heavyweight champ so you have me knida confused.whats cintrons best win before he fought margarito? what was clotteys best win before fighting margarito?lewis was looked at as chinny and overrated after he lost to mayorga
So now we're going into resume? Define skill.
If marg didnt have skill, he would have beaten who he did.
Define skill in boxing please

He has more pure boxing skills than Donaire but that doesn't make him a better fighter. Fighting encompasses more than just pure boxing skills, even without counting power there are things like explosiveness, athleticism, reflexes, ability to adapt on the fly, instinct, etc. You gotta look at all these things instead of judging fighters based on one criteria. Moreno has better pure boxing skills than Mares, Dawson has better pure boxing skills than Pascal, Berto has better pure boxing skills than Ortiz, etc.
Agree with this 100%.
You have no idea who marg is or beat huhhh
Wach has an iron chin yet hasnt beat anyone, why not?

apparently you don't nor do you know what a skilled fighter is

Rigo was a product of the Cuban Amateur system! His skilled was taught by the Cuban athletic system. Same as casamayor & Gamboa. They came from the same amateur farms of Cuba.!
Donaire was trained by his Dad, honed his skills in the US amateur system. Then left his Dad and Handle his own. He's like Floyd, He basically Trained himself. Donaire is a Natural fighter, it just grows in him!

If Nonito wins, it won't be because he's more skillful than Rigo. It'll be because of his power. Guillermo is clearly more skilled than Donaire.

exactly thats why he has only one notable 1 and even that win is tainted in some peoples eyes.

The way you make it sound marg is worse then Charle Zelonoff.
He developed the skill to win]

Skills you didnt use? If you could use it, you would have
Completely false. Robert Guerrero in the lower weight classes was more of a classic boxer. When he moved up, he showed the ability to fight inside and brawl. Against Berto he didn't display all of the skills he had in his arsenal because the smothering style was working so effectively.
That's what you call versatility.
So you cant give me the definition of skill in boxing so you used a dictionary :lol1:
How about giving one that applies to boxing cuz marg has all of those
The definition of skill is the definition of skill. It applies to all arenas. Besides, I wanted to provide an objective source, not my own opinion, which you would doubtlessly dismiss. And, no, Margarito doesn't possess exceptional facility or dexterity, nor is his technique, talent and ability as great as Rigo's.
You're quite the obstinate fellow, aren't you? I mean, calling Margarito more skilled than Rigo in the first place is bad enough, but trying to defend the claim to this degree borders on pathological.
Not necessarily. You can have skills in your arsenal that you don't use. For example, Adrien Broner may have the ability to stay on the outside and box but because he doesn't need to do that because he can overpower the guys that at 135 that he is facing.
Nobody thought Cotto had the ability to box until the Mosley fight. He showed a new dimension to his game.
Skills you didnt use? If you could use it, you would have
what does marg have?what did he develope?his chin?margarito has a bull**** jab mediocre at best footwork he doesn't have 1 punch power he doesn't have foot or hand speed he so what skills did margarito develope in the gym

LOL...No. Skills are abilities and tools. Things that you learn in training or with experience and add to your arsenal to make you a better fighter. Just because Rahman knocked out Lennox Lewis, that didn't make him the "more skilled" fighter which means the fighter that has the more skills (tools and abilities) in his arsenal. Lennox was still the better outside fighter, he still possessed the better jab, he could fight inside where he would land his uppercut, the list goes on.
No matter how you try to twist it, Lennox Lewis is the more skilled fighter than Hasim Rahman. On the night he got knocked out, Lewis got careless and Rahman was able to measure him up and put himself in position to land his right hand. That doesn't make him the more skilled fighter. It has nothing to do with Rahman having more skills than Lennox Lewis. Never in his career did he have more skills than Lennox Lewis. His only chance at winning that fight was to get in good position to land that one big shot.
And plus, there's things you can't teach like heart, will, determination, discipline, etc. that can separate the good fighters from the great fighters.
There's so many factors that play a role in determining how boxing matches are won other than skill.
Skills are abilities and tools that are applied
