based on the logic that has been used to determine the credibility of opponents. Would Floyd receive credit for beating Manny now?
It would still be a big fight and he would get credit for it, but at this point, Manny can't risk a second loss. Plus, Floyd would offer him too little for it to be worth Manny's time.
Floyd is the king of fighting leftovers. He is infamous for taking either retirements or long lay offs while his peers beat up on each other ie SSM, Cotto, Margarito etc, and then he fights the winners or leftovers whichever way you want to put it.
Floyd gets NO credit for beating Pacquiao now.
Pacquiao would have to go on a rampage like he did back in 2009..
which due to age and him being distracted probably wont happen.
Is Pac not 2-1-1 against Marquez???? History must have changed?
How is that leftovers when Pac is up on the win ratio????? 1 KO doesn't mean Marquez is better than Pac unless theres a 5th fight and it happens again with Marquez getting another KO win over Pac.
You bring up another point what determines which fighter is considered the left over? do you go by the win loss record? or who had the most clear cut victory? I hope it shows that there really is no way to logically apply something like this. It just seems like on both sides everyone finds a way to discredit wins. Even Andre Ward who through the super 6 fought everyone of importance at the time gets his wins discredited at times because they were all "at home" and Dawson even though prior to the fight he said the weight was a non issue changed and said it was after the fight.

Mayweather started that stupid leftover stuff and by that logic yes Pacquiao would be Marquez's leftovers. Of course that means when Mayweather fought Marquez he was fighting Pacquiao's leftovers since Pacquiao had two wins over Marquez. When Floyd beat Cotto he just beat more Pacquiao leftovers by the stupid leftover logic.
So by that logic, DLH, Hatton, Cotto, Clottey, Mosley and Margarito were all someone else's leftovers as they'd all recently lost (and some of them badly) before Pacquiao beat them. No?
I don't think that personally but if you're so quick apply that logic, apply it everywhere.
That's what I didn't understand about the whole "leftovers" thing, wouldn't that mean in some way everyone was someone elses leftovers unless they were undefeated at the time of the fight? It has been used quite a bit to discredit wins. (not just for Floyd but just for boxers in general).
Pacquiao needs to win a fight againts a solid contender or a belt holder in the Welterweight Division. Mayweather would beat any version of Manny Pacquiao.
Yeah. No opponent screams "challenge" like Joshua Clottey.
They all scrambled for the easier option as it kept the money flowing for lesser risk.
Question. Do people think Donaire's stance of "no test, no fight" againt Rigo, is a fear of challenging himself? Just curious.

Of course Pac is JMMs leftovers. Its Floyds fault for letting the fight slip by, and there was a danger Pac would lose, as Pac fights often and dangerous opponents often. Pac was considered to be slipping even before being kod by jmm so i dont see any humanly way possible Floyd wont be accused of fighting leftovers of JMM. Floyd and his fans practically invented the word leftovers so dont use phrases that will be used against you is the moral of the story.
If Floyd didnt want to be criticised he should have just got stuck in, rather than play the victim, no one ever gives me credit excuses. Stop giving people reasons to criticise you then!
Floyd wont get much credit for beating Pac now, no matter how dangerous Pac is still. People tried discrediting Pacs win over Margarito even though Margarito was a big lump and highly dangerous to someone of Pacs size.
Because he got cracked, it happens. Up until the kayo, Manny looked good against a guy he rarely looks good again. Unless if Manny is gun shy when he returns, he's still a very good fighter and can give a great fight to any top fighter in the world.
Ahh so we would really have to see how Manny acts in his next fight to make a determination. If he recovers and is fully back to form then nothing lost but if he is indeed gun shy after this then thats a wrap.
So Hypothetically speaking, Floyd were to fight Manny right now and Floyd dominated him more than likely he would not get the credit as it would be assumed that Manny had not recovered from the Marquez fight.
Yes..............
I think so too. But I am interested to see how someone who has used the "leftovers" argument would justify Manny not being one in this case.
