Is he bigger? Yes.. Too big as in too big to fight? No.
However this would not hold any weight if we were talking about other WW's or even other WW's that had won a title at JMW.
Just depends on WHO you are talking about. So in this case, JMW Alvarez is not too big for JMW Mayweather. However like I said, he is the bigger, younger, stronger fighter.
Yet I expect all these people that are hyping Alvarez to be the massive threat to Floyd to back pedal and call it a cherry pick vs a green, never fought anyone good enough type of fighter.. At the end of the day, all roads will lead to Martinez and even then IF that fight goes down, people will complain that Martinez was too old if he doesn’t win. People did the exact same thing with Mosley who was also a Champion.
It's never about being too this or too that. It's always about Floyd losing. Doesn’t matter who, doesn’t matter where and it doesn’t matter when. People just want to see it. Until it happens we will hear things like (pre-fight) Alvarez is a huge threat and Floyd is ducking him but post fight it will Alvarez was too green, Floyd is ducking (insert name).
Canelo is a small JMW, believe me. I've met him and he isn't big at the weight. Trout is a big JMW and will be much stronger on May 4th. Canelo is no bigger than Victor Ortiz who is an absolute monster of a welterweight.
Making sense fail....lol. Canelos is a junior middleweight in a welterweight's body just a bit bigger.

He's not too big just too dangerous. We know MAyweather only fights sure wins in which he's the big favorite. The odds would be too close for Mayweather's tastes.

Truth is, if you got the skill advantage, almost no fighter is too big for you. If we're talking about 180lbs on fight night big, and the bigger fighter is really skilled, that's too big.
170lbs vs 150lbs, and the 150 pounder has the skill and style advantage, like Pac-Clottey, then size will not matter.
clottey actually has more skill than pac but he fights in a shell MP was just quicker and is..when he did throw punches MP was very hitable

Canelo is not too big for May
May will fight him because of the money involved
Canelo is 5'9" and he isnt too big
Oscar is lsited as 5'10" not too big for floyd
but Martinez who is listed as 5'10" (but is more like 5'9" I met the dude) is "a MW " so even though we have weight classes and Sergio can make 154 Fraud still wont fight him
oh but Floyd is an all time great who takes on all people who call him out
like JMM
like an aging Cotto
but Pac and martinez both call him out and CRICKETS hahaa
height doesn't really determine someone being big...pac never called out FMW ever he always had to be forced to say he want to fight FMW..unless you consider arum and roach using floyd name as MP calling out FMW you silly fool..
guess what sergio martinez also called out MP you think MP WILL FIGHT HIM..YEAH SURE HE WILL MR ITS UP TO MY PROMOTER

Age old question..the answer is always the same.
It's not size alone that determines a fight; it's a combination of skill & size (see Pac vs Margarito...Jones vs Ruiz).
Canelo is a solid kid and packs a punch. If his boxing skills are enough to trouble Mayweather in addition to his size, then it could be an issue.
I don't see that happening though..he's too hitable.
Alvarez's promoter, Richard Schafer, is trying to avoid putting him in the ring with Austin Trout because he doesn't think Alvarez can beat Trout. If he can't beat Trout, he definitely can't beat Mayweather.
Was a debate on First Take this morning just curious to know others opinions...
Alvarez started his career at 140 and fought three-fourths of his fights at 147. He moved up for two reasons: 1. he was too undisciplined to make the 147-pound limit and 2) his handlers at GBP knew that he had no chance to be successful against the competition at 147 at the time(guys like Mayweather, Pac, Cotto, Margarito, Mosley when he was still in his prime, Clottey, etc), so they told him to move to 154 where he could win a bogus belt against mediocre competition. So, the answer is no, he is not too big for Mayweather and considering the fact that he can only knockout journeymen and 140 pounders, Mayweather has nothing to worry about. The commentators on First Take were too lazy to do their homework or didn't care about these things because it didn' fit their agenda.

Mayweather has been fighting welters at welter and Jr middleweight at their weight, while Canelo has been fighting blown up lightweights, Jr welters and welter at 154. So, NO I can't agree.
I really believe that Canelo may beat Mayweather in September. That is if Canelo beats Trout in May. I think Canelo youth and combination punching will be what beats Mayweather.
Cotto got to Floyd a good bit, the most I've ever seen. Canelo would get to Floyd in a major way...I could see Floyd cheap-shotting Canelo with an elbow or something trying to force a cut.
Oh I see so floyd is a 2 time Junior Middleweight champion who shouldn't fight junior middleweights and never mind canelo is smaller than De la Hoya who Floyd fought at 154. Yeah makes no fuking sense!
this is the problem with you stupid mmagayers your thongs are always to tight. i wasn't talking about or saying canelo is to big but i think most of his haters would say he's not big enough.

How do you know he can make 154? We're talking about a 37 yr old, post-knee surgery Martinez. You think he can go down to a weight he hasn't made in 3 years and still be healthy?
The problem with this is that its not like Martinez just asked Floyd yesterday to fight him. Martinez's name has been brought up many times before.
... but you are right. Martinez is actually 38 and who knows how he will be after the injury and with the news that Floyd will be fighting Guerrero, the fight can't happen until Martinez is closing in on 39.
So Floyd missed another opportunity .... poor Floyd, can't catch a break!
