DAVID PRICE insists this is not the worst era in heavyweight history and has vowed to bring back the excitement.
Critics have slammed the current crop of heavyweights as the worst ever, while the nine-year dominance of champions Vitali and Wladimir Klitschko has turned off many fans, especially in America.
But unbeaten British champion Price, 29, has defended the brothers and claims he is part of a new generation who will shake up the scene.

David Price is definitley a heavyweight prospect and a future champion and if he thinks his ready now his mistaken he needs to be taken into longer fights and fight younger guys than he has in recent fights otherwise h he will bo Ko'd at the moment by Wladimir - his team must'nt rush him just at the moment if even if he puts on a good show a loses some fighters don't come back after they are beaten - he is young take his time 2 more fights is way too soon he has'nt been active enough has learnt nothing or very little against Harrison they need to test him with the likes of Arreola just to see where he is - his next opponent is a an old man whos has been inactive for long periods and he will win this one and his Team will make a big song and dance about.
Price looks like an owl on roids. He's like an even bigger and more mechanical version of wlad. Just more ugly and with no boxing skills.
Haha
I rate Price but must admit he does look like an owl. I've met him and he's got a head the size of a Humvee
Pipe dream maybe but wouldn't it be grand to have these guys all locked into doing an elimination?
I respect your opinion on Price. The question is how much more seasoning he can get without getting in there. In the old days fighters came up and by the time they started fighting for real prize they had skills, now a days? not so much.....You can certainly point to a guy like Michael Grant to make your point though....He was indeed destroyed by Lewis by getting in the ring with someone he did not belong in the ring with.
after the Thompson fight Price needs to be getting ambitious and test himself with a serious HW. the question is who though?
pretty much agree with that apart from the Price comment. He's an up and comer so not really in a position to challenge yet. couple of decent fights then he will be. Unlike the other weights HWs peak 30-35 I think so at 28/29 he's at the right age to be still picking his fights carefully
i wish every weight class had a super 6. I know its a pipe dream but on January 1st of each year the top 6 fighters in each division should be matched to fight 3 of the other top 6 fighters. then the next year the bottom 3 drop out and the 3 next highest ranked ranked join

I think if everyone thought carefully this is the obvious conclusion....I certainly agree with this. Lets consider:
Forget if heavy weights are better or not....This division as "slow hand" says, is full of people that will not fight each other.
This division has a bunch of guys who are not confident or ready to develop the skills to fight at the top level. For example, a guy like Areola is skilled, a decent fighter who lost but was not really outclassed by Klitschko (we can argue that later)....Yet NONE of these young lions are in his face! And most of the other guys up and coming don't want any part of him.
This is the worse division because we have no guys with the skills, slickness and experience to challenge the guys with natural talent who are ready to grab the brass ring because.....guys like Potevkin and Price :bottle: are afraid to go for it....Whats the worse that could happen?
Compare this to the eighties when you had bunches of guys like Witherspoon with experience talent and ambition ready to take the mantle.
Finally in terms of actual ability there is no proof that a man need be bigger than 220-230 to be a boni fide heavyweight. There is no established formula that shows that a bigger man at this cutoff will persevere against a smaller man. The truth is that bigger men move better now, but so what? Lewis was a great fighter but it was not necessarily because of his size...Lewis was a very skilled fighter who was much better defensively than people think and is main contenders were often not fellow big men.....His toughest fight was against skilled small men with the exception of Klitschko.
So whether because of inactivity, a lack of balls/bottleneck, or ability anyway you slice it, whether the Klitschkos are great or average (as I believe) this is a weak division.

Price is a nice guy and IMO he is best to stay away from Wlad. He is a good fighter, but getting in the ring with Wlad is a MASSIVE step up..... no need to rush it... but if they want it... im sure wlad will be happy to take on another undefeated fighter
Why? whats the worst that can happen? Price is no spring chicken....If he gets in the ring now and has as his goal to be competative he will accomplish the following:
a) If he gets blown away everyone else in the pack will want a piece of him, so he becomes a gatekeeper with steady fights.
b) If he is competative he can actually get another klitscko fight down the line, correct his seasoning (as we say in the kitchen) and maybe win next time.
c) of he wins he wins.
Did losing to Klitschko screw up Areola's prospects?
Price is wrong. Outside of the Klits the division is the worst it's ever been.

Price isn't doing himself any favours. He should dump Maloney and jump ship to MatchRoom. He also needs to be fighting 5/6 times a year.
There's no way he's ready for Wladimir in 1/2 fights. Not a chance. His footwork is poor, guard dodgy, and stamina unproven.
Too many questions...
yeah Price isn't ready yet for Wlad. Needs a bit of fine tuning
Also, noone knows what his chin is like yet. he has never taken a clean power punch off anyone of value so it will be interesting to see how he reacts when a decent big HW twats him in the jaw haha

he said he'd be ready in a year...and two more fights
I take it he won't be as active this year as he was last year? that's really too bad but then again he is taking a step up in competition
the sooner price arrives the better...the klits are great heavyweights but no emerging challenger has posed a threat to them in years...I don't think fury will be an exception, wilder has the physical tools but is being brought along very slowly and pulev might surprise us
Price is wrong. Outside of the Klits the division is the worst it's ever been.
The real problem is that Price, Fury, Pulev etc just wont fight each other so we can´t even say how good they are. And it´s pointless to compare these giants with HWs before because size does matter, even if your wife tries to convince you it doesn´t.

Of course the fighters in the division will disagree because they are the ones being discredited. LOL
Price got it right, it´s not the Klitschko brothers´ fault they are better than the rest. But it´s also true that the HW division will be more exciting after the Klitschkos retire, assuming the top contenders will finally stop avoiding each other.
