If what is being reported is true about Canelo/Trout and Floyd/Guerrero, they both qualify to be RING Magazine title fights. When was the last time two fights on the same card were for RING titles?
Berto was not top 10, in fact he was unranked, both for steroids and not fighting for more then a year
You're going way into personal biased and into the past which doesnt matter. The Ring title (as well as lineal) is suppose to be between the top 2 ranked fighters. 1 vs 3 should only be acceptable when the #1 fighter in a division loses and is then pushed down to #2, having his victor taking his place. For example when Floyd beat Cotto, he became #1 and Cotto became #2. So it wouldnt make sense that a rematch would be the lineal champ so #1 fights #3 in that case. Thats the only exception, and thats how it should be
I don't mind Mayweather-Guerrero. Floyd already whupped the #2 Welterweight right now, over 3 years ago.
I agree they've mad it too easy, by including#4-5 as possible lineal champs though. That's dumb.
Got get those belts out somehow, ahaha.
Next thing you know it'll be top 10 and they'll shift people into the rankings just because like the other organizations
Oh that would never happen
Floyd fighting at 147, I would assume he is giving up his belt and his ranking since it'll be a day short of 1 year since his last fight
Floyd hasnt fought at WW in 2 years and still has his belt. They're not stripping him for anything
I don't have a problem with Alvarez-Trout being for the RING title, given Floyd (the #1 ranked guy there) is really a Welterweight. My beef would be Canelo fighting for it, given Trout is a huge fight there, but it's his first legit fight. Trout has a decent body of work at 154 with wins over Delvin and Cotto.
I don't mind Mayweather-Guerrero for the RING belt. Mayweather has beaten Marquez, Mosley, and Ortiz lately at 147. Marquez just beat Pacquiao and is now the #2 WW, Mosley was the #2 WW, and Ortiz was also at the time #2 at 147. Guerrero has a couple decent wins over Aydin and Berto, both Top 10 at the time. So I don't mind it being for the lineal title.

Its kind of pathetic that #2 v #5 can be for a ring title. Then people will call it a lineal title, like Garcia's and Hernandez' Ring belts, which arent lineal

Neither fight should be right the ring belt. How can you have a Ring champ at 154 without even having the #1 ranked fighter fighting for it?

They just changed the rules so it's easier to win the Ring belt... so first time
