Now that it seems Alvarez vs Trout is official for May 4th, I have a question.
IF, and it's a big IF, Alvarez beats Trout on May 4th, where does that place Mayweather-Alvarez on the hype/mega fight/legitimate fight scale???
I'd say if Alvarez pulls off beating Trout, it becomes the super fight in boxing or at the very least a very very big fight.
Adamek #5, Cunningham #10. That's all I had to see.

They're no better than any other rankings if they too reward robberies when they feel like it.
Like I said:
Pacquiao over Bradley, but...Adamek over Cunningham. Nice.

Bika under Oosthizen and Steiglitz. LOL.
Malignaggi #10, under Zaveck and Ortiz.
Danny Garcia not the champion at 140, despite earning it by upsetting Amir Khan.
Abril despite having been robbed against Rios, does not get the same treatment as Princess Pacquiao. Ranks #5 at 135.
Donaire the champion at 122 for beating Nishioka, but Garcia can not be the champion at 140 for beating Khan? Okay.
Very well respected my ass.
Nitpick all you want. This really looks like a desperate attempt at discrediting the whole thing, when in fact the ratings relevant to this topic are the junior middleweights, of which you have nothing to say about.
That's all there is to it.
But if you want to get into it all, I agree with everything on there other than the Adamek-Cunningham thing. When things are generally opinionated, on the whole these rankings are very good.
Canelo isn't really a top 3 JMW though. On a ratings list that is very well respected by me, and a few places, he's no.4 and rightly so:
http://www.tbrb.org/rankings/light-middleweight/
The only reason he gets mentioned is because hes a popular mexican fighter. He hasn't beaten anyone top 10 at 154 since Rhodes...... that speaks for itself.
Sadly, I can see the RING belt being put up for Trout-Canelo, when Canelo shouldn't even be top 3.

nobody outside of boxing people and mexicans know who canelo is. beating austin trout won't change that.
it will be a big ppv fight, but it won't be a crossover event because of canelo alvarez. that's all/almost all floyd mayweather jr.
what they will do is really promote the hell out of this thing, the way they did with mayweather and de la hoya.
Beating Austin Trout on a Mayweather PPV with over 1 million viewers watching will change that.

You're oblivious. Canelo is promoted like hell on Univision. Every latin person I know(not just Mexicans) who are at most casual fans of the sport know who Canelo is.
Of course him beating Austin would set up a huge fight.
He's not fighting in September. One, because that's when Arum is shooting for Pacquiao vs. Marquez IV. Two, he's 36 years old and hasn't been that active in a long time.
My best guess is IF he fights Canelo it won't be until May 2014. If he fights twice this year he will stay at his natural weight and take on Alexander in November/December if he beats Brook.
If Alexander wins, I think he'll fight Paulie, Ortiz, or Thurman in the late summer. If Brook wins, I can see him fighting Khan (IF Khan moves up to 147), Thurman, or Bradley.

Pretty sure a substantial amount of other latinos know who canelo is, not just mexicans.

If Floyd chooses not to duck him it'd be pretty big. First and foremost you'd have to get Floyd to not duck him though, which will be near impossible. Plus I don't think Floyd will fight again in September.

It would be the biggest money fight Floyd could make. I think Floyd will pass on Canelo and fight a welterweight like the winner of Brook- Alexander fight for somewhat less money and much less risk. I don't fault Mayweather for staying in his natural weight class. If he fights the winner of the Trout- Canelo fight that would be a bold move for a 36 year old welterweight. If Brook beat Alexander Floyd could make lots of money fighting Brook in the UK. Of course Mayweather always makes big money no matter who he fights.
if he knocks him out, then yeah, good for him, if it's a stinker, then it just reinforces the fact that canelo is the most overrated fighter today, the next chavez, jr.

Yes i agree, except Lara should not be #3 himself, Molina should.

Number 4 will fight number 2 for possible chance to fight number 1. Both big draws, both undefeated, Mexico, USA, so yes its a Super Fight.
:boxing:
this is comin from a mayweather fan for some reason I don't see mayweather risking his 0 against trout in all due honest respect
Then he needs to fukin Retire! If he beats Guerrero and doesn't fight Canelo, Trout or Martinez next then retire and go away and let these younger fighters fight each other to see who is the best
Even if Devon Alexander beats Kell Brook, nobody is all that interested in Mayweather vs Alexander, I hope Kell Brook wins to keep that fight from Happening in September
It would be a big fight but a lot has to happen between now and September 2013 or May 2014.
I still don't see Mayweather fighting twice within a span of 5 months. Second, there's going to be an issue of Pacquiao/Marquez 5 in September falling on Mexican Independence Day.
Its a good win. Trout is certainly a top 3 fighter at 154. I wish the top guys at 154 would fight each other so we know who the real top guys are. Kinda weird that the top 3 guys have basically never faced a real 154 fighter to be ranked where they are. Floyd and Trout are there because of Cotto and Canelo is somehow there because he beat up on old WWs and JWWs
