How many PPV Buys would a Mayweather-Guerrero fight and Canelo on the undercard on Cinco de mayo weekend get?
I think it is a shoe in to do over a million buys when you add the factors Mayweather + Canelo + Cinco de mayo = Over a million PPV Buys.
I say it does 1.1 million how much do you think it does?
if this is the line up this is one of the greatest cards i have ever seen
Mayweather-Guerrero
Canelo-Trout
Mares-De leon
this card is capable of doing 1.5 million buys
I have a feeling that this one will have underwhelming numbers. Guerrero has a good story, but he is not an engaging personality and no one outside of people that follow boxing closely knows who he is.
Add to the fact that there is no possibility of a Pacquiao fight this year and I think you see slightly better numbers than Pac-Bradley.
I don't keep track of how many buys these fights get but I voted that it would get over 1.2 million. Mayweather has been out of action for a long time and lots of fans will pay to see him back. Canelo is a huge star and this would be his most important fight. The two of them together should be the biggest moneymaker in years.
1-1.1 million for Floyd v Guerrero and Canelo v Golden Boy House Bum
1.4-1.6 million for Floyd v Guerrero and Canelo v Trout.
You can market Trout now as undefeated champion,Cotto conquerer, and first legit big test for Canelo as 50/50 fight.
If Trout wins...new American star because he will need to knock out Canelo.
BTW I like Canelo by 5th round KO.He is the real deal.
950K is 1.2 - 1.3M in Bob Arum numbers. Then again, Floyd doesn't need Bob to lie about his numbers in order to compete with someone who sells more.
Bottom line, if the card is stacked the way it shoud be (May Guerreo, Alvarez Trout, Broner Burns/Gamboa or moves up to 140) it will be a great night of boxing.
You sure about that? I think 950k would be doubled to 1.9Mill in ArumLandia.
They could roll in the corpse of Castillo, and the fight would get major plays.
Mayweather, Canelo on the same card, Cinco de Mayo weekend?
I can understand the resentment over Floyd picking Devon on here, but the things that I mentioned above pretty much guarantee that there will be plenty of people buying the PPV.
Like I said, it is a LOCK to get 1 million plus buys.
850k-1mill?
Floyd-Canelo would get 1.5. Just my guess.
Floyd-Alexander gets 700-800k. I think any opponent for Floyd would get him 700k+.
Edit: Oh, with Canelo-Trout on the same card? Maybe 1.1mill? Vs Angulo probably just around 950k-1mill.
I think a Mayweather-Canelo card is pretty much a lock to break 1 million PPV.
Either way it will reach 1 million. I suspect this May, the card will hit 1.2+ while if Floyd fights Alvarez in Sep (assuming he beats Trout) it will do Mayweather Mosley numbers, 1.4+.
http://www.eevblog.com/forum/Smileys/default/smiley_laughing.gif Is like some type of self win for Floyd Fan base? Does it really matter how much Money he makes in a fight? You aint getting none of it. Who gives a fvck!
Its pathetic that a fan base thrives more on PPV buys over a good fight. Like the PPV sells excuses the cherry picked lame ass boring fights. This cracks me up every time. hehehe heeeeee ooh wee
Why even comment here then?
Mayweather-Hatton was 950k. Pretty close to 1 mill.
1.4-1.5ish, I can actually imagine this one hitting 1.6. You have people buying for both Mayweather and for Canelo, plus you have the people that'll buy because they like Roberts story.
Should be a very dramatic 24/7
I really think around 1.4 to 1.6. Also a lack of really good boxing PPVs in awhile, so that'll open up some people's wallets.
If Mayweather can do over a mil with JMM and Ortiz he will at least match that vs Guerreo while also having Alvarez on the card. Not to mention if everything goes as planned, maybe even Broner vs a hopeful in Burns.
Think about it, the top LWs, the top WW's and the top JMW's all on the same card. Assuming Broner fights Burns... and Alvarez fights Trout.
It could be the best card in years. Too good to be true. Not holding my breath.
Ricky Hatton
It was reasonably close to a mil, only counting the US views. And in those far away days of 2007, Floyd's Hatton numbers would still be considered phenomenal rather than slightly disappointing.
I've said it before in another post, I do not consider any Hispanic an American. They would never be treated like one, they do not get treated like Americans, even if they were born here. I am 24 and have 24 years living here and i'm not American, at least I don't feel like one.
That's off topic though.
Dam dude.
