I thought he was good, but as somebody pointed out he was an underachiever.
He was schooling Margarito until he got injured.
The Cotto fight was super close and could have gone either way.
And I'm almost positive he took a dive in the Pacquiao fight.
Think we're in need of a big Clottey return I'd say.
There were times that Cotto was literally running away in the Clottey fight, so the notion that he "fought his ass off" after he got cut is a tad exaggerated.

I thought his corner was gonna try to take the easy way out and go to the scorecards after 4 rounds but he fought his ass off for the rest of the fight and deserved the win IMO. He showed a lot of heart and courage that night, Not like Devon Alexander and Robert Guerrero who b1tched out and quit after getting a tiny cut over their eyes.
You forgot Mikey Garcia. That's right... outdone by a Puerto Rican.

Pactards consider Clottey a slick African-American.:lol1:
I wouldn't say he's slick but he sure aint no bum like the flowmoez claim he is after PAC raped him silly.
Clottey would crap on Guerrero
Did I say anything about Clottey-Guerrero???? Nope....
I said people would have you believe Clottey was some world beater, simply because he's the last time Pacquiao actually fought a Top 10 Welterweight.....
The best things Clottey did was beat Judah coming off several big fight losses, beat Corrales when Corrales was done, and gave Cotto/Margarito tough fights. He was a solid fighter, a good Top 10 win for Manny.
But some would have you believe Clottey was some beast, simply because he's the last time Pacquiao fought a Top 10 opponent at 147.
The same people who say Clottey is a beast, are crapping on Guerrero as a Floyd opponent.
Clottey would crap on Guerrero, nothing to do with Pacquiao

He was a good fighter.A little too stationary and predictable, didn't transition from offense and defense all that fluidly, didn't have the best stamina, but he was a tough nights work for guys that fought in the pocket with him.Could counter fairly well and threw some really crisp, sharp combinations.
And yes, I also thought he beat Cotto (as did many others at the time). His performance against Pacquiao was an embarrassment and did a lot to damage his reputation.Prior to that he was generally respected as a good, top ten contender in the division.

when you stay out of the ring for a while you get rusty so I have been jogging a lot and going to the gym once in a while to throw hands."
Doesnt exactly fill you with confidence that hes making a real come back.
He hardley "threw hands" when he was fighting, so you never know.
Good fighter, could have been a lot better. I think he's done now. He hasn't fought in a long ass time and no one is begging for him to come back. He had an uncanny ability to **** up fights he was either winning or could have won.
This was back in early 2010. Maybe their respect has changed since the Pac fight?
what was in early 2010?the last time i was in the gym?no they think clottey loses fights and that he is not a very loyal person where as agbeko shows alot more love to the gym and even gave them money after the vic fight
A couple of times I went to John's Gym in the Bronx where he has trained at. There is a big poster of him in there, I should have written with a marker a word bubble that said: "Eehhh Margarita.. You cannot tek my pounches.."
they have clottey and agbeko posters i use to train there for a couple of years and honestly they don't respect clottey that much in the gym but they love agbeko
He was a very good fighter if you ask me, just couldn't live with extreme workrate. He picked Judah apart impressively when he was still good and relevant. He was a massive welterweight also which made him tough work for anyone, even Pacquiao was pretty busted up.
