Who's more exciting inside the ring?
Mayweather is a defensive fighter. He isn't necessarily exciting, people either watch him to see him lose, or watch him for his skills. He has a style that nulls people who come forward to fight him.
Ward is a bit of both. He isn't necessarily exciting either, though can be dragged into trading which can be fun to watch. People also watch him for his skills, as he dismantles his opponents in (arguably) better fashion than Mayweather.
Theres the headbutting argument for Ward, though we didn't see any of that with Froch and Dawson. I'm also aware Mayweather brings controversy outside of the ring, though this is all about inside the ring, as a fighter.
Who's more exciting to you?
Mayweather by far. Watching him fight is watching a master at work. He may not go for the kill like we like but he makes boxing look pretty than your typical banger types. He moves, feints, outsmarts the opponent, and if you make a mistake he punishes you. His punch selection is always great as well. And if we go back some years a young Floyd vs. Ward is a no brainer. Young Floyd was amazing to watch.
While Ward's just as good, he makes for the most snoozefest inducing boxing matches I've ever seen. He clinches wayyy to much and doesn't really let his hands go. No notable ko's until the Dawson fight. Which doesn't take anything away from his as a fighter (again, he's brilliant), but his style definitely isn't fun to watch. Hopefully what we saw with Dawson will be shown in his future fights. Oh, I do have to give him credit for the Froch fight as well. Just can't get the memory of that atrocious Allan Green fight out of my head though.
I really enjoy both but I find Floyd both more exciting and entertaining. Floyd's lead left hook, lead straight right hand, jab to the body, pull counter...jus' never gets old.
right now in their careers, I'd say Floyd because he doesn't use the whole ring anymore, he stands and fights toe to toe or lets you batter him on the ropes
both are my top two p4p fighters though
Is it safe to presume that you feel there's a chance Ward will lose because he's taking on the best fighters in & around his weight-class though??
no. i just dont think anyone at 147 or below can beat floyd or is even on his level. only reason he might lose at 154 is because he doesnt belong at the weight, like if ward fought at CW.
ward is an excellent fighter but he has a lot to prove before he earns the kind of status floyd has, ward himself would be the first to admit that.
Ever since Mayweather came back and fought Marquez. He just stands in the pocket and fights without using his legs he's been a lot more exciting. I like both fighters about the same. Ward wins his fights like B. Hop wins his fights it might get ugly in their at times but they get the job done.
very hard to choose, they are both among my 3-4 favorite fighters to watch. when ward fights you feel there is a chance (albeit small one) that he will lose which makes it more exciting, meanwhile when you watch floyd its almost more of an exhibition than a fight. that said its an exhibition of the best fighter of our generation putting on a masterful display of boxing skills. i mean the man is poetry in motion, then again so is ward. i cant choose. dawson is #1 and these guys are tied with marquez for the next 3 spots.

they're tied for me...andre ward is much more engaging especially on the inside but floyd used to be a very exciting fighter 130-140 and has shown to take more risks in fights these last two years
Mayweather by far. I prefer watching Ward, but what he does in the ring is very subtle. Stepping on your foot and landing a jab, inside uppercuts, roughing up his opponent inside the clinch. Floyd is flashy, and what he does is clean and easy to see for even the most casual of fans. He taunts you, makes you miss wide and then lands clean, easy to see counter punches.
I prefer watching Mayweather fight. He also has more fights that I can rewatch and still feel entertained.
Mayweather's fights from 130lb-140lb are a real treat.
I prefer to watch Andre Ward apply his trade myself. I liked it when he dominated the best fighters in 1 of boxing's best weight classes.
I agree with that. Of recent times Floyd hasn't been doing the same. Ward just blazed through the best in a very solid division.
