Anyone remember this dude? Better still, anyone know where he is now?
For those that don't remember, he was a kind of journeyman Mexican boxer (around the turn of the millennium) who had a knack for upsetting big name fighters/prospects. The fledgling promotional outfit, Golden Boy Promotions, then snapped him up for a contract & he vanished.
He reappeared 40 months later to draw with an 8-12-2 fighter & never fought again.
I remember watching a few of his bouts & hoping he'd do well (I love these fighter coming out of nowhere like Steve Robinson of Wales).
Anyone have any info? Thanks
The named rang a bell but now i remember after you mentioned. The guys he upset i remember he was about to get a fight with cotto but then the retina injury happened
He was a good action fighter
Pollo was supposed to fight Cotto I think on the under card of Pac vs. Marquez, since I was going to that fight I was looking forward to it. I remember reading that the guy was was able to quit his day job then and was just focused on boxing, then he some some bad luck.
And yeah I don't know what happened after that, I wondered about that for awhile myself, fun to watch every time out. You could tell he loved to fight.
He got a detached retina I think and retired, came back but didn't have it anymore.
Good little fighter, knocked out Julio Diaz in 1 round and beat Ricardo Williams on HBO.

Cheers Mate. That's a shame he was on a roll.
