Over at floyd hype.
DK: The middleweight division is loaded with talent. Sergio Martinez is known as the top guy, but his 2013 seems dead set on having a rematch with Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. after Sergio fights in April. One name out there is Gennady Golovkin, who just had a big win over Gabriel Rosado. What are your thoughts about fighting Golovkin?
PQ: You know, listen man, does the fight make a lot of sense? He's a serious fighter, a champion, but what is it worth to me? What am I gonna get out of that? I got a team of people gonna advise me that he's not really known in the U.S. What does that mean? They say this guy won't generate money. I don't know what that means. I didn't get into boxing to avoid guys. I'm not afraid of no man except God. He's just a regular guy, another human being. I only fear God; no other man. If I got people advising me that fight isn't worth a lot of money, you know what I do? I challenge myself each camp, and I don't let people fill my head with bull****. My reality is where my feelings are. If I'm strong and ready, I'm strong and ready. Look at Sergio Martinez. When I called him out, I didn't think I would get the fight, but I just put my mindset where he is because that's where I want to be. That shows I'm shooting for the stars. Daniel Geale is the guy that nobody gave any credit, and he beat Sturm in his backyard. People don't give him credit. Do I knock him for that? No, I don't. Why the **** would I aim for a regular champion like Golovkin when Geale is the WBA Super Champion. And he's also the IBF champion. Am I supposed to think like a fighter or a business. I should be shooting for the guy with 2 belts. It's crazy because Geale hasn't been on a national network. I've had the pleasure to fight on HBO and Showtime. So I would put Martinez first, then Geale, then Golovkin because he's just the regular champion. The reason why is if we give him the opportunity to build himself up and have a few more fights and get more exposure, I believe it would be a super fight between me and Golovkin. My name is already built. I'm willing to give interviews to anybody: ESPN, FightHype, Boxingscene. It doesn't matter. I've got my name built up.
In a world that makes sense, Quillin fights Golovkin at the end of the year, and Martinez gets the winner after the Chavez rematch.
It's time for these idiots to shut up about Golovking being a no win situation. He's got massive hype among media and fans and got that hbo backing.
Geale? gtfo.

For one, a win would put Quillin as the top contender in the MW division for a shot at Martinez.
Two, Golovkin is an HBO fighter. A win for Quillin could get himself that lucrative HBO deal that any pro fighter would want. And he would increase his fanbase too.
Last, Golovkin made $350K in his last fight as a co-feature, Quillin hasn't come close to making $350K in any of his fights. He would get the biggest payday of his career and the biggest opportunity of his career.
So I just don't get the bull**** he's spittin in that interview. Beating GGG would do wonders for his career. ****in fight the best to get to the top. Quit cherry picking and waiting by the phone for a payday.
On the money.
These comments are infuriating. I actually like Quillin too but seriously, where does he get off making these comments?
Doesn't help that it's Fighthype he's doing the interview with, they're not exactly going to point out the bullsh-t.
I understand these guys aren't fighting for legacy, but at some point, you gotta show some competitive spirit.
no one is gonna point out anything

Lmfao the people defending this are ri-fucking-diculous. Quilling is dogshit, he's lucky if he even gets past Guerrero and I really hope he doesn't cause Guerrero publicly already went up to GGG's face and asked him to fight. No pussyfooting around with Guerrero and GG. These are fucking boxers not lame ass divas who think they're greater than they are.
Kid choc is gonna blast guerrero out

Good post...
at first he's talking about money. Then he starts talking about Daniel Geal and his WBA title. Well, someone needs to inform Peter that Geale was stripped of that title and it now belongs to Golovkin. Golovkin is the sole WBA Middleweight champion.
I just single handedly destroyed Quillin's entire argument & logic.
Using his own words and logic, Golovkin should be the first person on his list to fight besides Martinez. Period.
Not to mention at first he's saying golovkin is a nobody here so he wont fight him and later he says its crazy that geale has never had a fight here.
Not quite as blatant as that. Pavlik, Taylor, Hopkins, these guys were never Sturms mandatory.
Anyways, let's just see some fights. Im tired of all these excuses.
Amen to that! :fing02:
Golovkin is a champ as well, maybe you forgot.
He offered a neutral turf fight, not even on his own turf, it doesnt get any more fair then that
I missed nothing I'm referring to the Sturm duck. My point is Sturm ducks everyone
L
Point is guys believe everything team GGG says. That's my point, and by the way I believe Arum would of because fighters like GGG wasn't Pavliks kryptonite it was athletic or pure boxers. And that's what I'm getting at. Guys are reluctant to fight overseas, and that's why a lot of GGG' s fights didn't come to fruition. Now I'm not missing your point, I just choose to see the other facts.
You don't have to listen to team GGG, observe other guys actions. 2 guys dropped belts when mandated to fight him, Sturm paid off the WBA (per Oener) to drag out the mandatory. KC wants GGG to build his name first, like he did lmao. Macklin's people approached for both dates, no interest despite Mack still chasing his first belt. You heard DiBella. Who's left?
KC was approached for GG's 2 HBO dates, both in NY state. How's that neutral ground, I thought KC reps NY, or is it BK only?
There's no doubt NJikam ducked him. WBA orders fight, NJikam purse bid no show, drops interim belt.
I agree, I was just saying the kc wants him ggg to get at least 2 more wins, because than their maximizing their earning power. But I was referring to why Sturm chose not to fight ggg
Don't understand the first 2 questions? But I'm referring to Quillin's last fight Hassan N'Dam N'Jikam

Lyou missed the point entirely. You were saying how Golovkin is 30 years old and that he hasn't fought a top guy. I'm giving you examples of top guys Golovkin tried to fight but couldn't.
Now you're talking about Pavlik in 09. You think Arum would have made a Golovkin fight in 09? No way that was even close to an option. Especially considering Golovkin was fighting in Europe and never fought on hbo or showtime at the time.
Point is GGG has tried to get good fights, but for one reason or another hasn't been able to land them.

In the States I can tell everyone for fact that if GGG gets in another two fights and wins by stoppage he'll be far more popular than Sergio and I don't give a damn about the "Latin connection" because all Latinos like KO's too! This Sergio guy fought a kid who didn't know how to box or fight, was winning easily but never stepped it up to stop the kid! His style is NOT a favorite style and if that kid could have put 3 rounds together I think Sergio gets stopped! GGG will quickly be a name here because his team knows what they need to do and thats.......FIGHT! People talk about the quality of opponents?? Sergio is rematching a kid who's the "greenest" kid I've EVER seen in a main event! I understand the draw connection to senior but to fight this kid again tlls everyone that SERGIO has NO drawing power! Ray.
Abraham
Like I posted earlier, in the interview I seen with Quillin, that's not exactly what he said. What he said was a fight with ggg would be great, but both him and ggg need about to more fights here to get their names out and and when they fight maximize their earning power. Now to GGG , he has one heck of team, example, HBO, and team GGG knows exactly what they are doing with going into interviews, YouTube video's with calling everyone out, then claiming they're ducking with leaving important facts out. Now everyone wants to say Sturm ducked him? Name one top middleweight Sturm didn't duck? I can name Bhop, Pavlik, Taylor, Abraham. Sturm even turned down a fight with Edison Miranda when he was relevant. We know Sturm didn't want any part of Martinez. Now with GGG I hear,q,d multiple stories I heard team GGG wanted the fight on a neutral turf, not going to happen with the Champ, no matter what, unless your offering big $$$. Now the only fighter I can say ducked ggg probably Hussein, but even that story is filled with hoow you say GGG's resume is not as bad as Quillins, come on now its just as bad.
Golovkin is a champ as well, maybe you forgot.

Quillin is underrated as a fighter on NSB. He's a solid fighter with real power. Like I said in posts prior, I think Kid Chocolate vs GGG is a 50/50 fight. Potential FOTY. And I've been a big fan of Quillin over the years.
But I don't like his attitude recently. He's another one of these fighters who hasn't accomplished much of anything who thinks he's entitled to the "big fights". What happened to the guys who are willing to fight anyone to prove they are the best? What happened to wanting to unify the division?
I guess that's why GGG has a lot of fans. Not only because he's fun to watch but his willingness to fight anyone. Unfortunately, we just don't see that often anymore. For every Golovkin, there are 20 Quillin's and Canelo's.
What's worse is the amount of fans who defend this kind of behavior. The best are supposed to fight the best, period. That's what all fans should want. But nope, not on NSB. Now it's about building up your brand, how many backers you have, etc. It's crazy talk. This is Peter damn Quillin vs Golovkin we're talking about here, this isn't Floyd vs Pacquiao.
You're making too much sense, Ray's head may explode
One HBO date was upstate NY, the other one MSG. Too neutral, KC only does Barclay Center? :lol1:
