Calzaghe said the same thing last year or year before I think - he'd come of retirement for 10 milly. That offer has been on the table for a long time but so far none of the top 168 or 175 fighters have taken it.
Ward isn't really a big money spinner so it's probably way out of the price range for a fight - if it was maybe 2.5 million then it wouldn't be impossible, and frankly I wouldn't be surprised if Ward cherrypicked Calzaghe as he's been out of retirement so long. Lets face it he was about to fight Pavlik after fighting a weight-drained Dawson, plus he had all his Super 6 fights at home. Calzaghe would be another in the long line of fights where Ward has had some sort of external advantage before even stepping into the ring so it would follow a well established pattern.
calzaghe was at the business end when he fought roy and bernard,he was no spring chicken
Thats quite true, but he was in the best form of his career (the Lacy plus Kessler wins far exceed anything else he did by a pretty massive margin). There almost a visibly rising trajectory of Joe's confidence after those performances resulting in him finally feeling he might be able to beat some ATGS now they were hitting forty and starting to puff.
Its always good to offer a balanced view of the matter, thanks Jassy.
FACT - Calzaghe always fights the greats when they are pretty much 40something, not when hes 40something.

It was on his twitter, someone asked him if he would come out of retirement to fight Ward for £10 mill. He said he'd fight anyone for that.
Stay retired Joe.
Tongue in cheek...... Nothing more
