I was watching the fight last night with a couple of friends and it seems that bodyshot that Hopkins landed on DLH in the ninth round didn't seem to have too much power behind it. It also seems Hopkins throws it from a very weird limited angle but yet DLH couldn't get up for a long time. The way Hopkins trainer kept shouting out bodyshot bodyshot bodyshot, then 5 seconds later DLH goes down. Do you boxing fans think it was staged for DLH to take a dive or was it a good placed bodyshot and it was legit?
Because I saw it on video? And Oscar's horrible acting job didn't help either. But I know you're the type to ride any "philly" fighters nut sack so I guess it's not really worth it huh? :thumbsdow
nah...I don't like Hank Lundy so you lose AGAIN bum!! :lol1:

No he didn't.
I was at fight but closer to the top than the ring and thought it was a dive. On the way out I was next to manny steward and I asked him. He said it was real. When I finally got home and saw on tv it looked genuine.
clown ass dude :lol1:....how do you KNOW that?!?.....to say he was acting is one thing but to take it THAT far is just corny...typical you though!

He threw that fight for whatever reason, it's something I've always thought. That bodyshot had absolutely no power behind it...
Plus him and Hopkins were good friends, even now Hopkins owns part of Golden Boy.
It was a terrible acting job.

He was a welterweight fighting a really good middleweight. It would have been a tremendous win on his resume. Why would he have lost on purpose?
He was in alot of pain as well. He didn't take a dive.
It seemed like it happened as soon as Hopkins started turning up the pressure. If you watch that fight, it happened shortly after Oscar started trying to get away from Hopkins. Before that, Oscar was pretty much standing his ground. He might have quite, because he felt he was heading toward getting KO'd anyway.
I think he could have gotten up from that but decided to stay down because he knew he would have gotten embarrassed the rest of the fight. Hopkins was slowly beating fishnets up.
bingo!!!!...my opinion as well!!
I take it a lot of posters have never been hit in the liver before. That crap hurts like no other. Although I will say I saw Maidana get up from that same shot, but then again Maidana doesn't go around wearing fishnet stockings.
:lol1::lol1:
I don't think so. Oscar had already been hurt to the body in the fight. Look at them raising his arms in between rounds, that is something you do to a fighter that has been hurt to the body.
No. I've been hit with crippling liver punches, and watching the tape it's not usually the big ones that hurt. Also, I don't see what a guy like Bernard, with next to no fan-base (especially back then) could possibly bring to the table that would make Oscar take a dive. Is it really his strong business sense that he brought to Golden Boy? That's weird, cause I don't even think he graduated high school..
This right here^^^^. Green K given..

He did lose to Trinidad he coasted in the championship round expecting a victory. Props to to cackle Cash Canelo for having Morris Day in his reply that was sweet
There was nothing fishy about the KO. You can clearly hear how much pain Oscar was in when he was rolling around on the canvas. Here is the audio from the referee's microphone.
When your hit with a crippling body shot you go down and you can't move much Oscar looks like he was auditioning for an Oscar with all that moving. He looks like he was out boxing Hopkins in many of the rounds though
Oscar De La Hoya lost every big fight of his career. Looked about normal to me
If you think he lost to Mosley 2 and A juiced one at that and the Trinidad fight than you need to stick to Basketball
