I heard from a insider in GGGs camp that he was holding back on his punches and also letting Rosado hit him so the fight would be more entertaining. He could of easily kod him in the first round but wanted to give the fans a longer fight. What a nice guy, I'm even more of a fan now.
i watched the fight for a second time last night. when i watch a fight live it's for entertainment value only. it's hard to evaluate a fighter off of that sort of a viewing.
golovkin looked very good. rosado looked good as well.
it was a fine performance. rosado is tough as hell. peep the poor kid's face at the time of the stoppage. that's the definition of a beating. all that was missing were knockdowns and a knockout, and they were only a few seconds away.
great stoppage, BTW, by the rosado corner. it should have come sooner, to be honest.
Ok, I've been heavily defending Golovkin and his performance after the fight but enough with these excuses. They are ridiculous and not necessary. It's making him look worse.
He did what he had to do and beat a game opponent Leave it at that, move on and fight a top middleweight contender.
That says it all.
People love to hate a great fighter. If you're winning they want to see you lose so bad.
i know!
C'mon this guy fought sick, with injuries to both feet and still didn't give it his all so that the fans could have a great night of boxing.
I think it all boils down to it's because he's kazakhstani and they can't stand to see one doing well, it kills them inside to see a succesful kazak brother.
Chavez jr vs Golovkin would be a badass fight to see who takes the better punch.
A huge 180lb Chavez can do a number on Golovkin's face.
All out war. I can see both fighters ending up bruised and bloodied. GGG can bang too and you know Chavez eats punches trying to get inside. Complete opposite of a chess match/technical fight. Easily a Fight of the year candidate.
Golovkin had a belt before HBO and others with belts at middle weight did not want to fight him. Its not really hype when its true. He been calling these champs out for years.

It's HBO man, they need to lay off of the sales pitch on the guy. This is the kind of blowback that happens when they paint these guys as the next ATG of the sport..."middle weight monster", "the best kept secret of the boxing world", "the guy no one wants to fight and for good reason".
Especially when they start tossing out excuses about the guy being sick when he doesn't get the KO. I don't blame 3G or his camp because it sounds like HBO threw that in at the last minute and caught 3G off guard on national TV so of course he isn't going to say I don't know what you are talking about.
Even Kellerman post fight was talking about the absence of a devastating KO as if anything else was a letdown.....that's when 3G starts apologizing to the fans and telling them thanks for the support.
HBO does this with every fighter and then it leads to making a habit of fighting smaller guys willing to move up in weight for the HBO exposure just to ensure he gets the KO. Then more and more people will call him a hype job and so on and so forth. When he loses, he will receive little credit for what he has accomplished in his career because of the pedestal HBO has put him up on. If they didn't hype guys up so much, it wouldn't be so bad on them.
Damn if I didn't watch the fight on Saturday I would've thought Golovkin lost the fight with all of these threads making up excuses. As the previous poster mentioned, he fought a game opponent which is good. Golovkin handled him as best as he could and he looked good doing it. Gabe has improved a lot in the past year alone and he was moving up in weight. I could tell he was gonna keep fighting until he couldn't anymore and he was willing to go out on his shield. Props to both men. Golovkin is still a beast no need for more excuses for not getting a KO or even a KD.

There were no nd or a ko because Rosado stayed on the move 98% of the time! That kid learned a whole new way to avoid danger that night!!!
It looks as though this GGG has deep punches and power, how refreshing!!!
Someone who's NOT interested in the judeges opinions! I like it! Ray.

I don't believe that he held back and let himself get hit. If he did it would be a stupid thing to do. Fighters should get in the habit of giving a 100% effort because fans and promoters and HBO and Showtime go by what they see. If he tries his best and KOs the guy early that will be entertaining enough. He should try to win the best way possible and take as few punches as possible doing so. If he KOed him in the first round that would only add to his reputation and make him more in demand for big fights with top fighters. Fans don't usually complain that a fighter KOs guys to quickly.
I think Golovkin is reaching "hype-job" territory just like Canelo. The shift happens gradually, it'll creep up on you and catch you by surprise. All it takes is one loss and GGG's image will be all messed up.
Suspect match-making, obnoxious fans, excessive hype from the network/promoters, etc.
Fighters are always being built up to challenge he who sits on the throne, it's just the nature of Boxing. But, fans can tell when hype isn't authentic, when it isn't deserved, when promoters/networks/fans are going above and beyond to present their fighter in a ultra-positive light. I used to like Canelo, but it was those reasons above that that turned me off completely.
GGG needs to start legitimizing his position as a MW titlist by fighting relevant MW competition. K2/HBO need to start dishing that $$$ to get these other titlists and contenders in the ring with GGG.
I wouldn't be surprised if the whole sickness and phone call scene were fake, a set up.

lmfao it did sound a lil weird at the end their.
For all we know it could've been GGG's girl on the other side.
GF: ***** I found some panties in your car.
GGG: Yes mom I am fine.

The whole thing sounded fake as hell. He claimed he was in the best shape of his life before this fight....that was like 4 days ago.
