With the rumors swirling that Robert Guerrero will be standing across the ring against Floyd Mayweather on May 4th, I thought to myself, The Ghost has all the tools to beat "Money". If he comes out victorious, there is no doubt he's the next Mexican-American star. His resume shows he's one of the best fighters out there. Agree or disagree?
I said Braehmer, not Broner.

Damn you can get arrested and locked up for insulting people in Germany? WOW!!!!
I find it impossible to root for boxers like Mayweather or Braehmer who beat up women.
I like to see the good guys win and the creeps lose.
What woman or women did Broner beat up? Haven't heard about that. Nobody said you have to root for them. The bold is the point I am making you nor I and most fans don't know these fighters personally. So truth be told you don't really know who is a good guy and who is a creep. I don't let the media tell me who is who and what is what about peoples lives on a personal level. The media and athletes have an agenda so we never really know the whole truth or what that person is really like outside of the ring. That is why I could careless about what they do outside of boxing.
You entitled to your opinion and I respect that.
Fuk no!!! Robert Guerrero is a sorry excuse of a welterweight.
The minute Guerrero steps in the ring with a real welterweight (that wasn't coming off a 15 month lay-off) he's gonna get his ass beat and probably knocked out....... This is coming from a Guerrero fan.
too bad Guerrero skipped the 140 pound division, there could of been some great fights involving him at 140.
I believe that you're extremely overreacting. There are far worse welterweights than the Ghost. As a matter of fact he's 1 of the best.
Robert Guerrero is a talented ring warrior. He's a man of strong character and a nice guy outside the ring too.
Guerrero is my favorite American boxer.
Serious question. Why does the bold matter to people(you)? I love to watch boxers box, basketball players play basketball, and the same for football, baseball and soccer(rare though). What these athletes do outside of sports means fvck all to me. I just don't get needing to like the personality of an athlete to like them. Sh!+ like that is strange to me.
1. Guerrero is a great inside fighter
2. He has the ability to box on the outside if he needs to
3. He's a southpaw and Floyd dont like fighting lefty's
4. The Ghost throws close to 1000 punches per 12 round fight
5. Guerrero is a smart fighter and doesnt lose many rounds
6. He's got better punching power then people think which will keep Floyd honest
7. The Ghost has one of the best jabs in boxing.
I state my case for The Ghost and his tools. Its going to be a great fight.

I will address your points as you numbered them
1. Just not true and I hope you not basing this off his last 2 fights espcially Berto cause that was not great in-fighting he just mauled Berto. Besides that Guerrero not close to being a better inside fighter than PBF.
2. Guerrero has been known as a boxer is a good boxer from the outside but he not a better boxer than PBF.
3. Just parroting what others have said for years which doesn't seem like its true to me cause PBF has fought lefty's before and is undefeated against them so blah to that.
4. Means absolutely nothing when landing less than 25% of them and track records show that punch outputs drop when facing PBF.
5. Guerrero's ring IQ is not even the same league as PBF so you said that to what really when he facing PBF.
6. That is possible but remains to be seen.
7. I don't know about one of the best jabs in boxing but its good though.
PBF being old and slowing down is the only thing in Guerrero's favor regarding this possible fight. Guerrero does nothing better than PBF even at this advanced stage of PBF career that doesn't bode will for Guerrero. I like Guerrero but his chances in the fight are slim and none IMO. The numbers and attributes of each fighter back up that claim.
Where was that pull counter when he fought Cotto? He can't take them all away.
Are you comparing Angel to the Ghost? two different types of fighter and besides, Money still beat Angel.
The Ghost didn't use a jab against Berto and even if he does, Money will use a pull-counter over his jab and thereby neutralize him from throwing it thus taking it away.
Where was that pull counter when he fought Cotto? He can't take them all away.
i agree. But what concerns me is if he can double it or throw something behind the jab. Floyd has a way of making people miss with one jab and making them pay !
I just can't understand why he is fighting up close in these ugly battles when he doesn't need to do that to win. He could have boxed Aydin to pieces and made Berto look lost if he had fought technically.
The only thing I can think of is that he is trying to trick Floyd into expecting one thing and then showing up as something totally different because the Floyd fight has been his primary focus for the last 2 years. Guerrero is a very smart dude and it could be part of some long term plan he put into play for Floyd. Stretching a little bit I realize but it kind of makes sense considering we know he can box technically very well and be very successful at it.

All that being said, I'll give him two rounds at the most. He only wins by knockout

He'll have a tough time trying to pull counter that right jab. He's going to have to beat Guerrero to the punch on the outside and attempt to break him down in close quarters. Not a PPV-worthy match but a lot more intriguing than some would initially suspect.

I agree with your points but the jab especially. I wish he would use it more than he does, especially as of late.....it is a very excellent weapon for him, one of the best in the business.
First off, Guerrero deserves this shot more than anyone out there. I think he will make the Floyd fight very ugly and competitive, win, lose or draw, he will come away with many more fans than he had going in to it.
If he does indeed win, he will become a global name and star......especially when they pump the stuff about his wife......GLOBAL HERO
Please name all of these tools cause I have yet to see them. I like Guerrero and think he is a good fighter but IMO that statement has gone way way way too far!!!!

I agree with most of what you & Queen Lia said. But there is 1 thing in particular that Floyd has & most people ignore. (Pacman had it too). Stamina, both have it in droves, which is why the average fighter cannot or couldn't keep up. Jab Judah (known as a 4 round fighter), was giving Floyd the business. But then he got tired, (as usual). But people said it was Floyd adapting. (Personally I think Floyd just got warmed up).
Cotto looked great till round 9, (usually around the time he gets tired, lol)!! If you remember correctly, Cotto had 1 of the biggest round of any Floyd opponent in the 8th round. I believe to beat Floyd, it doesn't take skill, cause lets face it, (where I bolded you), no 1 outside of B-Hop and Andre Ward, (whom you didn't mention), especially for his age has Floyd's ring IQ.
To beat Floyd, you're gonna have to throw caution to the wind, not get discouraged, understand you're gonna get hit, train like there's no tomorrow & come in there & throw 100+ punches every round. Hit his shoulders, hips & anywhere where he lets you & make sure you train to fight 15 rounds & do just that. Cause like you said, he's to smart to start thinking in there, it can't be a fighter easily discouraged. That's why I will forever believe a fighter like the Punisher was Floyd's cryptonite.
First of all for any fighter to beat Money they're going to have too be versatile and be able to adapt and mix up styles during the fight. If the Ghost makes the mistake of trying to stay in close-range and inside fight with Money he'll get beaten up and possibly stopped late on.
I would have the Ghost first establish his jab on Money, as difficult as it may be it can be done. High hands and using plenty of footwork and feints to keep Money guessing, I would advise the Ghost throws quick flurries and gets out of range, as the rounds go on the Ghost couldn't keep this up as Money would adapt to it, the key here is to notice Moneys adaptations without giving it away, this is where the feints would come in, throw the flurries and step out and start again, but feint the next time around and watch Moneys movements.
Then Money will try walk the Ghost down at some point in this fight, by walking forward with his hands held high and try get inside, when Money adopts this approach I would advise the Ghost to throw a jab, lead hook, straight left to the body and step out. Whilst throwing this combination it is important that the Ghost A) keeps his hands high and B) moves his head with his shots, this will limit the chance of Money landing a clean counter.
The main plan for me would be to try force Money back using the Ghosts size and footwork, when Money is on the ropes throw a bundle of punches mainly aimed at Money's body, load up on the hooks and straights and jab out.
When Money tries to force the attack the Ghost should step out of range immediately, as letting Money work in will be bad news as Money would already know what punches and movements he will want to throw.
The Ghost isn't disciplined enough to stick to a gameplan and lacks concentration as seen in his previous fights, Money will box his way to a UD 117-111 and beat up The Ghost in the process.

Agree he will beat Mayweather and the Floydiots will come up with the rotator cuff tear again.
Good post and I have always thought Guerrero was a good fighter. But we talking about him fighting the best and what Guerrero brings to the table is just not good enough. I love what he did in the Berto fight but I don't think highly of Berto and nothing Berto has ever done in a boxing ring is on the level of PBF. So I would never look at what Guerrero accomplished in that fight and compare it to what he might be able to do in a fight with PBF. That is basically saying that PBF and Berto are similar and we all know that just isn't true.
Guerrero is a good fighter but he brings nothing to the table that gives PBF problems. As a PBF fan I don't like the fight cause I think it does nothing for PBF competition wise IMO.
Someone please list the advantages that Guerrero has over PBF.
Out of all that you named about what Guerrero could do its true but what people still fail to realize is that PBF is just as athletic or even more than most fighters. But his ring IQ is off the charts and that is where he beats his opponents the most. B-Hop is probably the only fighter in boxing right now that could match PBF's ring IQ.
