CARL FROCH will get the chance to avenge the defeat that left him heartbroken when he meets Mikkel Kessler in May.
Froch is desperate to wipe away the memory of the points loss he suffered at the hands of Kessler in Denmark in April 2010.
And that chance will come in a £4m supermiddleweight unification in London on May 25, which is set to become the biggest fight of the year on these shores.

Froch is talking about war and it will probably turn out that way but I would hope he has a better gameplan than that.
I think he had some good success boxing off the backfoot in the first fight and I think he should try to emulate that this time but with better work-rate.
Yeah Ward did break his hand in the Froch fight, but I'm wondering what Froch's "issues" were for his losses to Ward and Kessler
or is he just making excuses to try to make the loss not as devastating.
He had an injury and travel issues with Kessler which put the fight in doubt.
I don't think he had any issues with Ward, just an awkward style to fight against.
IMO if he gets past Kessler he should ignore a Ward rematch until next year as he's coming back from injury anyway and push for a Sergio Martinez bout.
this reminds me of when Ricky Hatton stopped a faded Castillo on a left to the ribs and a gaggle of limeys predicted he'd do the same thing to Mayweather.
Carl Froch is not Allan Green or Markus Beyer or any of those other mediocre guys that Kessler has put the one hitter quitter on.
Kessler is getting knocked out.
Kessler is not Mack or Bute.

He's not making too many excuses - and to be fair some of the reasons he gave were fair enough IMO. Against Kessler the prep was hampered by the ashcloud and his partner was about to pop a shorty ringside. Against Ward - I think he acknowledged Ward was the better man on the night but just feel he can beat him at home. But there's always reasons why you're not at the top sometimes - they very top fighters they still win. And that's the difference.

I think Ward scored landslide victories against the both of them to be honest. I think his victory over Kessler was clouded by the headbutts and his victory over Froch just showed he was better - on the night at least.
Absolutely. Froch has fought better opponents in the same time span, but they weren't great. Neither was Kessler's. So I see it as a 50/50 fight all the way. Slightly in favour of froch because of the venue, but Kessler is a better boxer IMO and if he shows up and boxes, he can win.
Agreed.
Remember though, that Ward beat Froch handily despite a broken hand which really leaves no room for optimism for Froch fans for a reversal of fortunes in a return fight. And the scoring in that fight was closer than they should have been.
I don't know why I But I don't really enjoy this fight to many miss/ sloppy punches idk. Could be I had to watch it on computer after work. Hope for a good fight though
I thought Froch gave Ward a tougher go of it than Kessler did.
And we can argue about whether or not the guys he has fought are technically A-level....but surely you must agree that they were more elite and more of a test than Kessler's opponents during that same time span?

Froch has gotten better and better since the first fight, against A-level opponents. The combination of his boxing IQ and his physical conditioning is probably the best it's been at any point in his career.
I believe it when he says he feels like he's in his physical prime.
Hmm, don't agree with all of it. When he lost against Ward a lot of people on here, including broadcasters said how bad he looked, how slow he was etc. Now, saying he beat A level opponents since Kessler is debatable. Johnson had something like 14 losses when they met. Abraham came off a loss (he was schooled by dirrell) and has not really fought top class opponents. Bute was arguable A level - but I think it's fair to say that a true A level opponent the level of Froch, Kessler, Ward, Calzaghe etc would not have gone into the fight like Bute and certainly wouldn't have lost the way he did. Mack was C+ at best. However, using the eye test he looks tremendous and his physical shape is awesome.

Get back on topic, now.
This has FOTY written all over it.
Potentially, but the way Kessler wants to fight it could be a boxing lesson. If it goes Froch's way, it will be a war.
Hats off to both men: none of this shying away from major competition a la Mayweather.
