PROMOTER Eddie Hearn expects that on Monday Mikkel Kessler to agree terms to fight Carl Froch at London’s O2 Arena in late May.
But Hearn has set Kessler and his promoter Kalle Sauerland a deadline of today to make the super-middleweight world title a unification bout.
The £4m showdown would likely be the UK’s biggest scrap this year, if it comes off, and Hearn says it is on the brink of being agreed with home advantage for the Nottingham boxer.
Froch, 35, is desperate for the chance to avenge a points loss to Kessler, 33, in Denmark in April 2010.

I'm also not overly confident....both Sauerlands and Eddie Hearn says on twitter that we will hear about FrochKessler2 within hours......but Hearn just squeezed that information in after he told that he was off to the Brooks press-conference on Sky......
I'm sure they would have said already if they couldn't come to terms.

The main reason I'm not too confident of the fight being signed is that its Brooks press conference in his first world title fight today that Hearn will be at.
I don't see him interupting this to say oh yeah, I'm gonna trump this with Froch vs Kessler... Think they wouldve announced right away.
Still, I can hope!
if nothing interferes, i should be among it. how tremendous.
but first, Mikkel needs to please the fans and sign.
I thought you said it wasn't going to be signed?
i'm not sure that is in dispute. Froch can expect great support in London for this fight, as he would in Nottingham.
Yes. Froch will have a huge partisan crowd behind him.
yes it was. why else would anyone consider the location for the fight significant, except for the reason that one man and his supporters would have to travel much further than the other?
Kessler was cheered from the rafters in Herning. it was as good as a homecourt. it actually was a homecourt. it was Denmark.
Like London is England.
The point wasn't whether the crowd will be partisan. The point is that Herning is not Kessler's backyard. Far from it. There's actually a regional rivalry between people from the Herning region and Copenhagen.
A guy was beat to death not too long ago for having a Copenhagen accent. Although it's an isolated incident, it does illustrate the regional tensions. So no, the only reason to stage it in Herning is due to site fees - which Herning is known to slang like candy.
What's holding it up, Bat?
What is it that they are not agreeing on?
I don't know.
It's s big fight and lots of things are going to fall into place. Not easy when faced with a hard deadline imposed by the IBF.
Sauerland tells TV2, that reports of Hearn offering Kessler £2M is false.
If the fight gets done it will be a joint-venture with a 50/50 split on income and expenses.
Yeah, was seriously impressed with the friendly attitude of the Danes, any of them that I spoke to were a great laugh.
Only buggering part was I forgot to book a hotel so had a cold wait at the station!
The danes are usually very friendly when following their sports stars and national football squad. :)
Sucks with the wait mate. Remember the hotel for Froch-Kessler II!
Sidenote: I just told Hearn to get back to work. :lol1:
You where there?
Must have been a great night. 50K+ in attendance and a win for the homeguy. Quite a party! :friday:
