Lucas started slow & got involved in a boxing match, he turned it up & Zab fought very defensively, almost in survival mode.
Too Zabs credit he has officially been only stopped the 3 times.
One against Tyszu who hit like a mule, against a prime Cotto where he had good success until he gassed & against Khan where he got overwhelmed & arguably hit low.
no more like Zab was looking for a way out
Matthysse is overrated. Toutdd as best in the division? Who has he beat...

he beat judah who is ranked #3 right now, he beat alexander who was ranked #2 at the time, he beat algosen who was in the top 10, he beat soto who is a good fighter, he beat corley who was coming off a win over maidana. i'm sure you know all this and have excuses ready to copy paste. do it!
Because Zab is quick has good reflexes, was able to avoid a lot of those punches and he fought a smart fight.
If you stand in front of Matthysse and trade with him toe to toe your an idiot, you need a new trainer and you deserve to be knocked out.

As long as you acknowledge that Garcia hasn't beaten anyone either, it's fine to think this.
Garcia and Matthysse are the two best, and its far from unreasonable to think Matthysse is better than Garcia.
I dont think either fight(judah and alexander) were robberies just close fights that could of gone either way. But since those fights lucas has made it a point and has said multiple times he was going to start faster and look for the ko every time out. He learned from those defeats and has looked like a monster ever since
GGG may be exposed as a limited fighter down the line, but you won't see it this weekend. GGG is a much more highly skilled boxer and technician than rosado. he won silver at the olympics. whatever defensive limitations he has he makes up with a great chin. he's never been down, and he was a top amateur. although he's not a top pro yet, he's shown a good chin so far as a professional.
rosado is another overrated bscener. he's a bad dude, but he's hardly in the top 10 at 154...
We shall see? But i do question GGG hype. He's been a pro longer than most prospects and he has yet to step up, heck Broner, Mares, Rios etc..... resumes is leaps above GGG. I don't buy nobody wants to fight him, just like sparring these so called heavyweights. I've never heard of him sparring neither of the Klit bros, Haye, Fury, Thompson, Wilder, Price, Ademak, Arreola just to name a few. I know he won silver, Audley Harrison won gold @ the 2000 Sydney Olympics, and look @ him, very few whom win medals pan out to be great, With the exception of Ward and others. I also don think he's more skilled than Rosado
I no know quarrel or argument on who's the winner, because it was close, and depending on who's judging and what they prefer. But HBO said he rehydrated to the jr middleweight division.
yeah if they prefer lil jabs that fall short over power punches to the head and body. who would prefer that though....
Lucas rehydrated to 151.
Whilst Judah out jabbed him he was outlanded by nearly 100 power punches and floored.
A lot of the rounds were close but in my eyes Lucas was the clear winner.

We've been through this many times, Matthysse only started to become a pressure fighter after the Judah & Alexander fights, he wasn't pressuring in those fights....he was boxing!
After wrongly being on the wrong side of those fights..he picked up his work rate, fights with much more menace, intensity & every punch he throws now is K.O intent, weather it's to the body or face. Matthysse has learned from those fights.
Put Judah in the ring with Matthysse with now he's fighting now....Judah will get stopped
he's always been a pressure fighter and to me he doesnt fight differently except for starting a little faster...however he didn't start that fast against olsegun
I'll say this about the actual question. Mattysse didn't stop Judah because Judah came to win, he fought well & Lucas had never been under those shiny American lights in front of a noisy American crowd.
judah sure didnt fight like he came to win he was flicking his jab all night turning back into his shell to set up a counter (which rarely came)
Lucas is overrated. Simple as that. But being an B+ fighter and being rated by fans as an A++ fighter counts as overrated. Lucas is a top fighter at 140, top 2 or 3. People just tend to rate him as the unbeatable monster force at that weight, which he isn't.
^^^^
This right here, i remember HBO saying Judah was only 143-145, while Mathysse was 155-157, you can tell he was bigger, but nevertheless Judah won a clear close decision in my eyes. By the way I think an overhype guy is getting exposed this weekend "GGG". How do you see Rosado winning?

I watched the fight like a few times...I've never heard anyone mention that Lucas entered the ring 2 divisions bigger than Zab....nobody mentions it as if it didn't matter

There are different aspects of that fight to consider.
#1. The fight was supposed to be Judah's showcase return. They scouted Mattysse as a no name foreign level banger & expected an easy win.
#2. The judges came to the fight with Judah the determined winner before the fight ever started.
#3. Clearly the judges didn't score body shots at all. Lucas landed those in abundance.
#4. I don't see how Lucas only won 3 rounds out of that 10 round fight. The mathematics involved is staggeringly bogus.

He quit against Khan IMO. It was a borderline punch and while Zab was on the on the floor calling foul the ref was counting him out.
I agree he stated way to slow and Zab went into survival mode. That fight was Matthyssse's first in the US and against a southpaw with that kind of experience. Lucas hadn't even faced Corley yet. Mayweather, Baldomir, and Mabuza all had Judah hurt and were not able to finish him.
