I finally got around to seeing Pac/JMM 4 and I must say I thought the ref or the corner were going to stop the fight within 3 rounds of the 6th.
Don't get me wrong I did watch the work JMM was doing and I've seen JMM take a lot of punishment but Pac was literally teeing off Marquez at points.
BTW i'm a fan of both fighters and had Pac winning the first fight and Marquez winning fights 2 and 3.
Right. So who's to say Pac had it in the bag or that a TKO of Marquez was imminent. You can see Marquez patiently paused after throwing a few and got into position for the counter in the final seconds of round 6. No matter how much it troubles some Pac fans, it wasn't luck. That KO shot could have happened after round 6, especially since Pac was getting more reckless thinking he was about to put Marquez away.
Agreed. And the great thing about this sport is that anything can happen. I thought Marquez was finally going to get TKO'd due to things I saw in his body language and Pac's accuracy, but he pulled off the victory.
When I was watching the fight, I thought Pac was on his way to stopping Marquez in the 7th or 8th round.
It's easy to say otherwise looking back in hindsight. But at the moment, Marquez looked really hurt.
i thought he was getting banged up but then again when doesnt he? even Kadsidis had him going a bit..i dont see Marquez getting stoppped though, dudes a damn zombie in there.
But this fight was different in that JMM was getting broken down, in the 1st fight he was getting better as the fight went on. He lost round 5 and was hurt if I recall and was losing 6. I don't think the pattern would have reversed, it only would've gotten more difficult with the broken nose and concussion.
Props to JMM for getting the KO.
He lost 5 rounds which is why all of the judges accurately scored the fight 46-47 in Pacquiao's favor.
Momentum was swinging in Pacquiao's favor but he was hardly pitching a shut out. Another thing people are overlooking is Marquez work to the body, in the second half of the fight that work would have paid off.Right. I'm sure these kinds of fantasies ease pain and such but we are still left with the plain reality, no other factors mattered in that fight except Marquez's KO, seriously. I mean, we could go on all day about if Marquez was on the verge of a knockout or some such thing but then the adults must eventually have to say recess is over.
It didn't matter how bloody Marquez was, what his trunks looked like, or if Pacquiao's knockdown had any significance because all of that distracts away from the brutal reality, Manny was stripped of his consciousness and his status. In a bout, the only thing that matters is the winning punch.
Shoulda, woulda, coulda...... "He's not getting up Jim! he's not getting up!"
It doesnt fvking matter. LOL :D
He got Knockout of the year.
with that win i now rank him above Morales and Barrera :)
*he looks more hurt in the 5th than any time in all 4 fights. But its a calculated risk that he took and he was successfull. Pac was landing more the same period compared to the 1st 3 fights.
Why do people act like its an insult to say Marquez might have been stopped? It was a great fight, both guys were doing damage. Marquez's face was getting messed up badly. Again, its a moot point because Marquez landed the KO shot, but people act like Marquez was not in any danger whatsoever.
This. The way some people are acting in this thread is actually hurting the reputation of the fight and Marquez's performance. It was an amazing and shocking comeback. Marquez was maybe more hurt than I've ever seen him against Pac, people saying otherwise are very biased for some reason.

You know exactly why.
It's because they're idiots.
I was getting quite anxious at the end of the 5th, thought it was definitely going to be a possibility about Round 8.
Me, too. That's the essence of a great fight, huge shifts in momentum and constant danger. What a fight it was and what a night for the sport.
His nose was not broken jmm said it was just a cut. People keep thinking his nose was broken but it wasn't
You're right, sorry redo...
I didn't think he would get KO, I just thought he would have a long tough night ahead of him with that cut on his nose.
Just like he was going to get tko'd in the first round of the first fight, just like he was going to get tko'd in the Second fight, just like he was going to get knocked out unconscious in less than 2 rounds in the 3rd fight.
which is where the quote in my sig comes from....when they asked Marquez if the knock down, the broken nose and the fact that he was getting hit alot discouraged him

Which is why I almost avoided this tread altogether. It looked like Pacman was getting stronger to me. That is until he walked into 1 of the greatest punches ever thrown & landed.

Pac broke JMM's nose in the first round of fight 1 and JMM went the full 12.

It's got to a stage where no matter what happens, I don't expect Marquez to get stopped.
At the same time, everytime he get's hit I flinch as he may go over :lol1:
Marquez is just unstoppable, or pretty damn close.
I thought it was pretty obvious that he was gonna get TKO'd
Imagine fighting Pac with a broken nose that is constantly dripping bloodPac broke JMM's nose in the first round of fight 1 and JMM went the full 12.
