I have never seen such a rise in Cuban fans. Usually they are nice guys, but now they are desperate. Almost like Rican's when Cotto was fighting Pac.
When Donaire signs that paper, I gurantee any Cuban a bet with all my points to theres(Same amount). I will also give up my signature for 1 month for whoever takes the bet.
Donaire will beat Rigo an most likely by KO but UD a possibilty. I highly suspect that Rigo kept that helmet on for a reason.
Rigo is a product of hype for a good fighter. He isn't great yet, because he has faced some below par opposition. It's easy to look great VS guys who are not that good.
I am not saying Donaire has faced everyone good, but much more than Rigo.
Nonito is a level above almost every fighter around his weight class. The only one that I can see giving him a tough fight is Mares who has showned the ability to adjust. Mares doesn't have a lot of power but I still like that fight.
Rigo will shut down like every other fighter has shut down against Donaire. Nonito has too much speed, punching power and ring savy. He sees everything in the ring and is always thinking in there.
Rigo hasn't faced any top fighters, he looks good but is very unproven
http://www.hjo3.net/orly/gal1/orly_owl.jpg
People are forgetting that Rigo has an extensive amateur record which reflects more than his limited professional record. The speed, power, and ring IQ of Rigo will be a good test for Donaire. I was ringside when Donaire fought Narvaez, and the Pinoys kept saying that Omar was going "Night Night", but look what happenend.
I still favor Donaire by 3-2 odds to win. But all this is wishful thinking as the fight may not happen.
Why did i say 3-2 odds, because look at the BS scores, they were planning to rob RIgo. He won 117-111 on my card, yet two judges had it 114-113 and 115-112. If Rigo won 6 rounds he wouldn't get a draw, DOnaire would get the win, if he won 8 rounds than he would get a draw, he needed to win 9 rounds to avoid the robbery,
Good pick Haglersteelchin Green K to myself. I guess this Cuban American was not as delusional as the Donaire fans predicted? What happened to El BOSS HOGG the other troll, i guess he is still eating crow?

Where is this troll now?
Not sure what his problem is but most of us Cubans post on here regularly. Not like the Vanes fans who only pop up when the headline reads "Vanes Martirosyan".

hell yeah i watch all cards on showtime adn hbo and everywhere else, i dont know where the hatin coming from we know our boxing not only rigo, gamboa and maja.
Man some of these Rigo Cuban fans have now become some of the worst ever, not all the Cuban boxing fans there are some unbiased ones. At least the Pac Fans were just calling Floyd a ducker which the majority of the world felt, but these guys calling Nonito a ducker just cause he doesn't want to fight a guy like Rigo yet? Nonito paid his dues and had to be stagnant for a long time because of Gary Shaw mad that he knocked out his boy Vic Darchinyan, now Nonito is no young guy either he wants to make the big money fights and he wants tougher test in Mares, and yes Mares will be tougher since he is a super aggressive pressure fighter with a good chin, Rigo has no chin, once Nonito clips him he will taste the canvas and if you don't think it's true you are in denial, the Cuban fans are making me laugh every time Rigo puts on a boring performances or gets rocked by a guy like Marroquin they will find excuses and never insult Rigo, they even said Marroquin was higher caliber than Any Nonito opponent because he had a good amateur background lol.
They never criticize Rigo for being boring or getting rocked, but all of Nonito's fights they insult and nitpick his performance big time.

My guess is that most of Martirosyan's fans are of Armenian descent. There aren't many Armenians in the world. The country has a tiny population, approximately 3.5 million. There are many more scattered throughout the world (due to historical turmoil), an estimated 5-7 million.
There aren't too many pro boxers of Armenian descent that I'm aware of, apart from Vanes and Vic Darchinyan, so I can understand why you only see their fans pop up when their names appear. Considering how small the total Armenian population on earth is, and the fact that boxing isn't a national passion, they seem to being doing respectably in the sport.
(As a side note, Armenia produces some of the best chess players in the world. As a fan of the game, I'm highly impressed with their success.)
Interesting facts especially about their chess history. Like I said, I'm not sure what TS's issue is given the fact that almost half of the people in this place only pop up in threads that pertain to their fighter.

Considering that they have a hard time turning pro in general I'm not mad at them for being excited for fighters from their country. This can be said about pinoys when pacquiao came along so whats your point? And the cubans here are nowhere near as bad as pac t a r d s. Donaire has a jab??

As far as olimpics go, Cuba has been declining for about 1 2 years each olimpics the medal count drops. The goverment has cut back resources for training athletes and give them the platform to compete. Athletes have been complaining about this for years and it's being seen lately. Specially since Raul came into power there have been serious cutbacks, because he doesn't give a crap about sports like fidel did.
I see. Well that's not good but it appears at least they still enter quite a high amount of athletes and aren't poor as other nations.
Most definitely Cuba could achieve more if they had more infra structure but I also recall reading an article about some going to Cuba to learn technique in boxing. Some were amazed at how the kids loved sport and attended lessons like it was a way of life. That is a god thing in sports. Kids need to love it.

Cuba was ranked 11th GDP wise which is actually good. I thought it would be worse. Team wise you guys had 16th place in numbers. Population wise it's low so I guess it shows per population, you entered more athletes.

You've admitted it, but in the same breath downplay it. I agree that there are probably more distractions in a wealthy country, distractions that can pull a prospective athlete away from sports. But there are challenges to being poor, far greater challenges, in my opinion. Cuban athletes, while they remain on the island, earn zero money for their efforts. The motivation to excel is more complicated than that of most other athletes. It can be argued that, in many cases, their "motivation" is detrimental to their performance.
I will say there are two sides to it. I have known some great athletes who could have played football professionally (soccer) and were offered to play in division 3 teams. However this one guy didn't want to commit to early starts to get to training since they didn't live there (2 hours away). They ended up being a bank manager earning good money. Sport is not always fun, training is tedious and hard. Some people go for short term money. That's the problem with being rich.
I have no doubt in my mind, that if Tyson was born with qite a bit of money as a child, he would not be the same, or possibly even a fighter.
Being poor can help drive you so much.

I already said after doing some research, Cuba has done pretty well. However I disagree about being affluent means you will be successful in sports. There are many distractions growing up in a wealthy country. In many oor places, sports is a way to earn good money, however say, like in the UK, you have many choices to earn good money.

He wants mares because he knows that fight can't be made. Just like how he preferred Gamboa over rigo when Gamboa was not even fighting due to contract stipulations. He is and has been ducking rigo. Period !
That fight is possible. I recall Shaffer mentioning it a while back.
Is there any other country that is in a similar economical space as Cuba that medals as often ?
I am not sure but per capita you guys are doing OK, just not that high. Better than GB actually.

Very true, yet you can only speak the truth for so long and people ignore you; when it becomes rediculous. It has been Seen, Heard, and read; yet unintelligent or hard headed fans can't catch on.
