:soapbox:Does anyone else feel Guerreros win was tainted because the referee did a lousy job of stopping the illegal hits from the Ghost?
Now before the flag toters get all excited. I dont blame Guerrero for doing what he had to do to win. It is what it is.
Also it didnt help that Berto was doing a Floyd impersonation and not fighting his fight.
But lets face those knock downs were illegal and the fight was no "blow out win". It was close and the difference could have been allowing those illegal shots with out any warnings or even disqualification considering the damage that was done.
....oh and Im not Ghost hater or Berto lover..as a matter of fact this is a VERY unbiased opinion because I dont care too much for either fighter.
TS, this was simply an awful tread. The Ghost wasn't just holding & wrestling in there. The ref didn't break em up because the Ghost was working on the inside that's the key here.
Besides Berto started his career at middleweight. If Berto, the obviously bigger man allows a guy that had 1 fight at welterweight prior, coming off of a 1 layoff after jumping up from 135 beat him up on the inside, well maybe this isn't the sport he should be in.
A lot of you guys have to stop talking about the weight so much. In this day of the game, there are way too many boxers who are fighting well below their natural weight. Tim Bradley walks around over 165 lbs and was fighting at 140 lbs. We just saw Gamboa come into the ring at nearly 150 lbs for a fight that is at 130 lbs. That should tell you that even Gamboa walks around over 150 lbs.
And don't get me started about Sergio Martinez. That guy walks around anywhere between 180 lbs to 200 lbs. And I say 180 lbs to be generous. haha.
I don't think the win was tainted.A fighter has to obey the referee. If Guerrero is using tactics that are questionable but effective and the referee allows it then of course he is going to keep on doing it. Berto holds way to much and that's against the rules but he is seldom warned for it. Any fighter will do what works if the referee allows it. Ward uses illegal tactics in his fights that he might not get away with outside of Oakland. I think Guerrero is to good for Berto even with a strict referee. Berto needs rest periods. He does not do well under steady pressure.
lol with more lame gifs....omg pac got knocked out!! omg jinkee looks distressed!!! what will i ever do with myself!!!!! please........lmao
They have to project their obsessions onto someone, otherwise they'd be pathetic. Oh, wait...
And Mares isn't one of the dirtiest, he is the flat out dirtiest fighter in the sport.

i don't know what that has to do with anything.......mares is a dirty fighter. if that offends you then **** you.
This thread is ridiculous.
Guerrero did not fight dirty at all, he fought on the inside the way fighters used to back when they weren't little pansies looking to the ref for help. That was an old school ass whoopin and I think the ref actually deserves "Ref of the year" honors for letting the man work when Berto was doing half the holding and languishing on the ropes for long stretches.
If the ref would have broken them up and stopped Guerrero you would have a had a god awful ****ty fight like Berto-Collazo where Berto holds all f*cking night long to avoid getting beaten up on the inside and the ref lets him.
Then people would be on here *****ing about how Berto only beat Guerrero because the ref let him use his stupid ass "throw a pitty pant combo then hold" strategy all night long.
Berto is the f*cking Welterweight John Ruiz. He deserved to have his ass beaten on the inside because refs have been sucking him off and helping him out of those situations his whole career.
what does Mares have to do with this...oh nevermind hes calling out Nonito and your a fanboy so i understand now
talking about guerrero fighting dirty and hitting berto with illegal shots....and i'm just saying at least he's not as dirty as mares. isn't mares one of the most dirtiest fighters in the sport today?if there is one win that can be argued as being tainted as a result of dirty fighting and inept reffing it's mares vs agbeko 1........
Two words. Sh*t Happens. Lets not start this "were these punches legal" sh*t, because you can list hundreds of fights where questionable tactics/punches ended in a win.
Thank you. That is exactly the point. Questionable tactics and punches can and sometimes do end in a win.
Again, Whether or not this is the case in this fight is debatable but the possibility of it happening can not be debated. (fact is, it CAN change the outcome of a fight)

But to answer the thread question ..NO Guerrero won and Berto fought like a damn idiot
..I can respect that
One been exposed as how he really looks off the steroids. the other wanted to bring a prison beat down to a known cheat.
...oh now Prison beat down is something we should respect as legit?:dead1:
Man, the Ghost busted dude up and I loved all the "illegal" hits. Berto was a cheater who thought he was going to beat up on the smaller guy but it didn't work out that way. I've seen plenty of illegal stuff or things that I thought were not fair occur during a match and no one said a word so I say let him express his desire to win by rabbit punching and bullying the opponent around. It's just the Ghost's desire and determination to win, nothing more.
I can respect that opinion.
there just pointing out your bias and your stupidityThose 2 knock downs were bogus,it was a sh1t fight to be honest both looked horrible
I agree about the knock downs but was still entertained. Not by the sweet science but by the train wreck.

All good points but a bit off from the the question asked. Maybe its awful because you didnt understand it? No sarcasm.

Im not surprised that I angered the Mexican flag toters with this thread, What I am surprised in, is the lack of intellectual representation. Here you go guys. Share this:bottle:
what flag toters? people in here (regardless of ethnicity) are laughing at you for thinking his win over the drug cheat berto is "tainted". if you want to talk about tainted you can always bring up berto-ortiz, even though he lost who knows what kind of drugs he was on? possibly more steroids? oh well, berto got beat down like a dog by a former featherweight. if you want to believe it's tainted go right on ahead there champ if it makes you feel any better! :lol1:

he's right though if guerrero's win is ''tainted'' then so is cotto's win over judah
And this means......?
He did use plaster. Just look at Berto's face, it's impossible to swell up after a Boxing match!
So your saying if I punched you in your face it wont swell? What the hell are you?
