*********
I’m left wondering whether I’ll ever wear a pair of boxing gloves again. My last fight was a fifth-round knockout of Dereck Chisora in July but a big part of me hopes that won’t be my last ever ring outing.
Yes, I’ve achieved enough to walk away content and happy were that to be the case. But, at 32 and still in my athletic prime, I can’t help but feel there is unfinished business in the heavyweight division.
It’s no great secret that I want to knock out Vitali Klitschko in 2013. The contract for the fight has been agreed and is there ready to sign. Were it simply up to me, I’d be training to fight right now. Instead, I’m away from the gym and left to play the waiting game.
Nobody seems to know if Vitali wants to set foot again in the ring, let alone face somebody as dangerous as me. What I do know is that by this time next year I will either be a retired former world heavyweight champ or the new world heavyweight champ.
The prospect of retirement doesn’t scare me. I’ve always planned on retiring at a young age, with my faculties intact. Also, unlike some of my peers, I have plenty to get on with away from boxing.
My long-term goal is to become an actor but, in the meantime, I’m looking at lots of ways to stay busy and keep my mind active. I think that is important for any boxer or former boxer no longer training or competing. Just this month I put the finishing touches to a fitness DVD, which reached No1 on the Amazon pre-sales chart, and also an iPhone game, which did similar in the Apple gaming charts.
But the real game is in the ring and by this time next year I want to be recognised as the undisputed number one in the heavyweight division.
Vitali is a big *****h
holding belts while fighting bums and winning by TKO6 aided by doctors and refs who are paid a backhander to give him the win
Vitali needs to retire or fight Haye (like he promised)...
Klitschko fans - Go earn it like Mormeck and Charr did.
Klitschko fans - He doesn't deserve a shot at Vitali because he lost to a different fighter for different titles.
These people are the most retarded fans you'll ever meet.
Except Haye fans
When was the last time Vitali fought his mandatory? Adamek?
Just curious. I know Haye isn't even ranked by the WBC; but i'd like to know how he's avoided a mandatory fight for quite some time.
IMO, this fight (Haye-Vitali) has already been agreed for mid-2013.
It's up to Vitali. Whatever he decides is ok. Win over Haye won't really do much for him. Win over either Price/Tyson/Povetkin would probably do more.
Haye's own fault - he doesn't want to be in the game anymore, so he doesn't have saying. He lost it in Hamburg 1.5 year ago.
Well, he has put together 1 win in a row. If that doesn't entitle you to a title shot, I don't know what does.
That's not going to happen. He never was the best heavyweight and he never will be.
He beat the same guy Vittles beat but was more impressive doing it after the Vits camp said the winner would get their man. Vitty never protested this so it would be one top contender against another with a huge payday to boot.

Translation: I want to fool the boxing public for another payday!
Sincerely, the heavyweight fraud...
Pretty much. Truth be told he doesn't want to get in the ring with Vitali Klitschko, he just wants the payday that comes with it.
The guy was a bad champ at heavy, and now he's lobbying for this fight promising to be an even worse champ should he win. Apparently this marketing tactic works on some of the home crowd.

all he has to do is either get the vitali fight or beat povetkin to become wlads mandatory. if vitali retires then he may have to wait as arreola\stiverne winner would face fury for the vacant belt or would be the fight for the vacant title with fury the mandatory. haye could beat anyone of those guys in my opinion. it's rather he wants to keep fighting or not. he is filthy rich & in the next few years could be in some GUY RITCHIE movies. haye has lots going for him outside boxing. he is in a unique position that most boxers will never be in. he has life after boxing. he is moonlighting as a prizefighter & has one foot out the door. he wants another crack at a klitschko. if he beats vitali he gets wlad again. if he loses to vitali then he cashes out & goes into his after boxing life. the only people it effects is us the fans because we want to see the best fights. there are lots of interesting fights out there for haye but he obviously doesn't want to fight much longer. he is content to wait for vitali or wlad...
does VK v charr excite you? does VK V some bum from poland excite you? were talking about the HEAVY WEIGHT WORLD TITTLE here, why does the wbc put up with VK hand picking? if vk dont fight the only genuine challenger then strip him:banghead:
This is getting boring now, You said you would retire when you turn 31, you did but then you are still kinda fighting and calling the Klits out, Yes I understand its all about money but he needs to stick to one decision.
Its not all about money, those guys barely care because their rich! He just said he wants to fight him because he is the best and he wants that belt! The reason he is changing his mind about retirement, because he realizes that he is still in his prime, and able to compete! Its that fighter's spirit. We all knew he was too prime to retire, but its good to see that he is slowly realizing it now, and maybe he will continue to fight other heavies! Even if he were to beat Vitalit, he is sounding like after that fight, he would start having these same thoughts, and stay on to fight more heavies after that fight! This is sounding good.
