Whatever the case. In 06, mosley had alot more fight in him. He was in the decline/going downhill by that point('06), but by the time floyd and shane fought he was already at the bottom of the hill.
Not saying shane would have beat floyd in 06, but in 5 trys its perfectly reasonable to think shane would have touched up and beat floyd atleast one time. Hell, id venture to guess that mosle wouldnt even have needed 5 tries to beat mayweather.
In the future, people are gonna look back at floyd mayweathers resume and see he beat mosley, completely unaware that mosley was so old and shot to sh1t at that point. Gonna be pissed lol.
It's comparable to when Donaire beat Nishioka this past year. Nishioka was the fight everyone wanted for Donaire, along with Rigondeaux, at the time. He was the #1 guy in the division, but he was clearly past his best days.
Mosley was the fight everyone wanted to see Floyd in, along with Pacquiao, at the time. Mosley was coming off the destruction of Margarito, and was #3 P4P at the time. But he was clearly past his best in the fight, which is why that was the last time Mosley was a legit fight for anyone. He should have retired after that fight.
Shane could have fought him in 2006 if he wanted to....

At the same time, this thread juxtaposes that floyd fought the fighters when they were at their best, and was just superior/better than them.
Hell, forget about mosley being in his 'prime', if the fight had only taken place 2-3 years prior than when it did.....
Shane could have fought him in 2006 if he wanted to....
Castillo, that's it. The past prime version of Oscar in 2007 would have never beaten him. Maybe in his prime H2H at 147, Oscar would have probably gotten one win.
Castillo would have won a close decision once.
castillo arguably won
jmm- 4th times a charm for him
mosley - one more of those big shots and it woulda been over
hatton and cotto gave him very tough fights
were talking 5 times though
The problem with priming Floyds' opponents is that you have to prime Floyd himself. That would be a 130-135 Floyd and I am certain that he wipes them all out at his best weight.

They all could potentially but floyd wont let them. If floyd fouught every 3 months hed lose and didnt have the luxury of lay offs.
Floyd dont give rematches as his style would be found out. Cotto is looking at tapes of what he did wrong against floyd and would beat him in a rematch as would JMM (i dont care how easily he lost the first fight, another fight is another day).
MAYBE........DeLaHoya. JLC Possibly. Who knows maybe Judah. But honestly, it's boxing anything can happen. Which is why we love the sport. Hope for good fights in 2013! :boxing:
Sugar Shot Oldsley put Floyd on queer street...most of you know where my allegiances lie, but Shane was a great champion who often doesn't get the credit he deserves.
He doesn't get credit because of his roid cheating kind of like Barry Bonds and Mark Mcguire
If Mayweather fought one of his former opponents 5 times, which fighter, if any, do you think could get him at least once?
Well Castillo already beat him once who cares what the judges say we know who won, If Mosley was at least 35 with Roids rather than 39 and no Popey juice, If Oscar fought him 2 or 3 years before that cause his no roadwork and coke snorting made him age quickly in the ring, If Hatton fought him in England with an British ref and a small ring. If Cotto had fought him before the Plaster beating that turned him into a wash up fighter, Zab Judah before the Tzyu Ko when he had his marbles cause that Kosta Tzyu Ko lossen all the screws Judah had fasten in that little pea brain of his.
Probably none of them. If he can beat them once then why wouldn't he beat them five times. Marquez fights much better at heavier weights now so a rematch would be interesting to me but Floyd would be a heavy favorite to beat him again.
To be fair Floyd always learns from fights. He's had one rematch and significantly improved from the first fight so surely he wins more convincingly after each fight?!
Prime Cotto,Prime Pacquiao, Prime Margarito, Casamayor at 135, Tsyzu at 140 oh wait we're talking about fighters he didn't duck
idk Baldomir, Ndou? maybe Bruseles?
