AMIR KHAN says he still has star quality. Bolton’s former world light-welterweight champion is back in the mix after stopping unbeaten Carlos Molina on December 15th in Los Angeles. Khan, 26, still has over 1.2million Twitter followers and claims he is even more popular since his controversial points defeat to Lamont Peterson a year ago and fourth-round stoppage loss to Danny Garcia in July.
There has also been controversy outside the ring for Khan and his fiancée Faryal Makhdoom to deal with, with regular updates about his private life in the media.

This has always been Khan's problem. Equating popularity with boxing achievements. That sense of entitlement has been with him from day one and still hasn't left him. His team were demanding SKY money after a few primetime terrestrial channel bouts against mediocre opponents (which was right for the start of his career). But then his team wanted to headline SKY cards before he'd even won a British title...... based on his so-called popularity. This lead to his 54 second demolition by Prescott.
He claimed that Kell Brook wasn't a worthy opponent because of his popularity... only to get starched by Danny Garcia. If Khan spent more time worrying about his opponents following gameplans in the ring, he might not be getting chin checked every time he takes a major step forward. Popularity isn't a shield against getting KTFO.
gotta respect his heart. kid always gives it 100 percent. also defeat has humbled him a bit. lets see what the future holds for Khan.
I think it did a little at the beginning, but his ego is already starting to return in full force. The guy has no shortage in self-belief.

'still' a superstar? More popular that ever?
No one can doubt that he is entertaining in the ring, especially when he is getting nailed, but out of it....easily the most odious self obsessed individual in the sport. Makes Floyd look like a humble guy.
Now.....I wonder.....
I was never a Khan fan, but I went all in on rooting for him against Garcia, who I can't stand. Mother****er let me down, of course
I imagine I felt like the Mexican fans who adopted Oscar De La Hoya as their own for the Trinidad fight.
****ing Khan. He will be back and may be successful, but I still don't care for his ass much at the moment. NoName-Molina was landing clean on him with ease. I hope he shuts the **** up and improves.
He better stay away from Matthyse and 147 entirely for a while.
The kid did the right thing moving away from hollywood.
training in peace where no one knows u or cares about u is the best option, alone with ur thoughts, away from the papz and the celebs..
He had a nice Ride on Pac-Man's Coat Tails Too!!!
I watch him because I want his arrogant ass to be KO'd... So yes, he's popular
The Chump is very popular with all the cat's at JWW and WW, that can Punch!!!
His constant Blather, turns a lot of people OFF!!!

Khan does have an exciting style, on the one hand his offensive skills, combinations and handspeed can be amazing to watch. On the flipside his leaky defense leaves himself open to get hit with big shots, there's always that question of whether he'll get stunned, rocked or dropped. Always edge-of-the-seat fights with Khan. And with one of the biggest hearts in boxing, possibly one of the most fearless fighters of the modern era, Khan's popularity is completely understandable.
He makes for an exciting fight, every time because you don't know what can happen. His chin might stay up or crack, who knows. His power might show up or might not. Just stay tuned.
Amir Khan is much watch boxing period. You either see Khan letting go with all his blazing handspeed, or someone with decent power putting his lights out. Much watch boxing right there.
Right there.
People can say Khan is dumb, arrogant, annoying, clueless, a prick, or whatever they want (and they're probably right), but they can't deny that he's always in an entertaining fight. You just never know what's going to happen when he's in the ring. :woot2:
The only thing he has lost are believers. People that believed he would be a great fighter one day. But, I'm sure everyone that sees him and recognizes him, still flock around him to get his autograph. I doubt he has noticed any decline in popularity among people in public. There's no reason not to like him, he always gives his all. Can't ask for more.
