Most boxers come from a hard background, well at least the successful ones. Basketball is a lot safer and America Football is so much more fun to play. Team sports are easier to motivate yourself for training.
Not at all. Heavy lifting and over exerting yourself stunts growth in all capacities. Which is why kids aren't supposed to lift weights. The argument has zero proof or scientific merit. Sorry to burst your bubble. A kid who is well fed and nurtured and participates in athletics has a leg up on a kid who eats next to nothing and is overworked. One gets strong while the others body is malnourished.
Nobody says they would be faster or stronger, or bigger, tougher yes. Paleontologists can tell you right away what kind of life a person had by looking at their bones, lifetime hard workers always have thicker bones... as long as they didn´t starve too much of course.
Ps.- And that theory of weight lifting is not for kids is a thing of the past century.
Naw. The United States still has plenty of low income places/neighborhoods and people from hard backgrounds. But if you're offered a scholarship to play basketball or football, versus a chance to turn pro in boxing....what are you going to take???
Europe doesn't have a history of dominating the lower weight classes.
The US dominated the heavyweight division for close to 100 years. How do you explain the drastic dropoff that has happened all of a sudden?
Anybody pansy assed enough to go into soccer would never make it in boxing so sorry soccer is NOT draining Euros of boxing talent.

Sergio Martinez tried to be a professional football player at first but failed. He picked up boxing at the age of 20. He is been the #1 middleweight of the world for several years now.
We've never seen Europe owning the lower weight divisions though, we have seen the US own the HW division producing guys like Louis, Holyfield, Tyson, Ali, Frazier, Foreman, etc. I think you get the point.
They went from those great fighters to Arreola/Chambers, do you really think that's the best they could produce? Even though the US is still producing great fighters in the lower divisions they aren't close to the talent of guys like RJJ, Toney, SRR, SRL, Hearns, Hagler etc. or even guys from other countries. The whole sport is pretty weak aside of a handful of guys.
It's no coincidence that the time the HW division started declining as well as other divisions that salaries jumped for both the NFL/NBA. The average salary jumped from an average of around $30,000 in 1975, to around $300,000 in 1980, to 1 million in 1990, to 2 million is the 2000's. To say this is just a coincidence is laughable.
Never seen Europe own the lower weight divisions? Exactly... Wanna know why? Based on your logic; because all of the best lower weight European athletes were soccer players, where money was ALWAYS bigger! And how about this, America owned the heavyweight division at one point.... But let's not forget tjay Eastern Europeans weren't even allowed to compete until the 90s..... When it just so happens that Americas "dominance" In the division starting fading away.... Interestingly enough, that's when the average salary of a boxer started going down and in the NBA/NFL going up, as you've said...
To say that's a coincidence is laughable as well, no?
You act as if boxing is the number one sport throughout Europe and every kid is some Eastern European refugee in which boxing/fighting is their only option to make money. Boxing is well behind soccer (which as I've said takes most of the athletes) soccer is HUGE in Europe, bigger then the NFL/NBA combined... And your average soccer player makes MORE then your average NBA/NFL player. All the 18 year olds are playing soccer so again: you say the reason America doesn't have any good heavyweights is because they all grow up and choose to play NBA/NFL because of the money...why is there Europeans in lower weight classes like Ricky burns who is a title holder, yet comes from a rich country in which another sport is the top sport and is 1000x more lucrative? It's the same thing and going by that logic, I can say it's safe for me to say that if soccer wasn't so popular in Europe, Europeans would dominate the lower weight classes.... And as we've already said, even with soccer being the number one and being Europes perfect comparison to Americas NBA/NFL argument....there's STILL a number of highly rated/title holders in the lower weight divisions from Europe.
So I don't buy this other sport theory. To each his own ( no hate)

It is known that people that works hard from their childhood has far stronger bone structure, they will be tougher.

Okay, I'll bite..... Even if that was true.... The topic of discussion is if those soccer players grew up BOXING and never playing soccer just how if the American NFL/NBA players grew up boxing and never playing their sport. So even if soccer was a pansy sport, they would of never played and would of been boxers. Judging by your posts though, I wouldn't be surprised if you reply and say that those soccer- hypothetical European boxers would be predisposed genetical pansies anyway because in reality they did infact choose and play soccer. :ugh:
haha i resisted, perhaps a wiser choice...
Soccer's a girls sport. Bottom line.

You don't understand, do you live in America? If you do you should know that nearly EVERY single child in America at age 11-12 is allowed to play school sports which range from Soccer, football, basketball, swimming, wrestling, tennis, baseball, track and field etc. for FREE.
These kids don't know any better, hell at age 13 I even thought I could play in the NBA one day.
A single football roster will consist of around 40 players. Right now in America there are at least 10.8 million 18 year olds playing football, that's not counting all the children, nor the other sports.
Boxing isn't even in the top 10 most popular sports in America.

Basketball can actually be a very physical sport with guys fighting for rebounds, diving and falling on the floor, posting up etc. Try standing still and let a 280lb beast run you over to draw a foul. The NBA is where it really gets toned down because they want to protect their million $ athletes.
Soccer is actually the most played youth sport in the USA, however once we reach middle school at age 11 we are offered many types of sports and people abandon it to play more dangerous sports like Am football.
That's if we don't choose to play youth football/basketball/baseball etc. aside of youth soccer. (these youth sports occur out of school)
Im sure basketball is tough...
Either way it makes no difference because people arent born sissy, and they dont choose a sport because of how sissy they are. If someone whos a pussy in football now, say Christiano Ronaldo, grew up boxing, then he wouldnt be a sissy. Thats my only point on that tbh.
Also you cant act like everyone else in the world is dedicating their lives to boxing while america is doing all these other sports. Boxing is a fringe sport here as well, we dont do it in schools, theres hardly any gyms, hell most 'boxing' people do is that crappy fitness stuff...
If you grew up boxing instead of playing football (soccer) that would surely negate the pansiness?
Also NBA is a non-contact sport and people are saying that steals talent so...

all of our HWs are hungry...you seen Arreola and James Toney?
Hahaha, good stuff.
But too many sports for our big boys to play.
Why box when you can play basketball or football for millions?

I'm not even going to reply to this. That's just a silly post, come on now.

This arguements is weak. The percentage of people who make the NFL/NBA is like .00000001......we gonna act like there's no more athletes in that other 99% of people in the United States?
Also with this NFL/NBA logic..... It's safe to say the reason European fighters don't dominate the lower weight classes is cause they're all playing soccer, correct? A 19 year old soccer stud in Europe makes EVEN MORE then a rookie in the NFL/NBA....yet there's still plenty of good fighters from Europe from 130-200...

Like Natas said, no use in turning to boxing when you can start of at $400-500k a year as a rookie playing NFL/NBA/MLB.
Also, American schools don't support boxing, not even an amateur program. Amateur boxing is safer than football.
Like I said, the minimum for a rookie in any of these three leagues is $400-500k/year and it has to go up. How long does it take for a boxer to make $400-500k a fight? I'm talking about the whackest players of these leagues, they start off at 400-500k. The journeyman of football, baseball, basketball, they guys are way more paid.
Why box? And why go through the hell of paying $100-250 a month for a boxing gym, when you can go to high school/college and play a sport for free, possibly get a scholarship?
People call it a myth, but it's no myth. American athletes are not stupid. They know where the money is. You have to really love boxing and have been grown in to it to actually choose it over pro football/basketball.
This. It's a different game now. The Heavyweight champion Mike Tyson used to get paid 80mil at one point in time. It's changed.
Even here in Australia the incentive to play rugby is far greater, train for a couple of years and get substantial wealth with the lifestyle or train in obscurity for years in hope of a payday that may never come.
