Both Jimmy Lampley and Larry Merchant have thrown indirect digs at Marquez involvement with Angel Heredia and tried to cast a cloud over the Marquez KO win. Merchant even stated there would by no doubts about the validty of the Donaire win as he particiaptes in the year round VADA testing. That is after Lampley made his indirect suspicions by tying Marquez with Heredia.
When Donaire KO'd Montiel in two rounds there was little or no mention of Donaire's association of VIctor Conte of Balco fame. The guy who boasted he could do designor drugs that couldn't be detected. Of course, he went to jail and was implicated with many athletes including boxer Shane Mosley.
Montiel in nearly 50 bouts was NEVER knocked out, yet was taken out brutally in two rounds. Where was Lampley or Merchant voicing any suspicion? Montiel and the majority of Mexican fans took the defeat in stride and accepted it.
I am glad Mercant is retiring. Although i respect his military service to this country. Harold "senile" Letterman who i have bumped into in ringside on a few occassions should also exit.
1-Montiel was never knocked out. Pacquiao was knocked out twice. He was dropped like 6 times, kazak fighter, Nedal Hussein rd 4- which the count was like 14 seconds due to padilla's slow count. He also had that knockdown against Barrera which i admit was phony. He was almost out on his feet against Larios in round 2 or 3, don't remember. Pacquiao can get hurt and get KO.
2-Marquez had Pac hurt in round 2 of their second bout, but the round had ended which didn't allow him to follow up. He also was stung a few times in their first fight, in fact, his gloves almost touched the canvas in their first fight after a punch.
3-Donaire had to go the distance with Concepcion. All of a sudden he has COnte and gets four consecutive knockout wins. Marquez has a higher KO percentage than DOnaire, and has fought more fights, so if Marquez is not a big puncher, than what does that make Donaire?
4-Comparing Conte and Heredia is subjective. Both have a dubious past, and its pretty much like the pot calling the kettle black. Trusting Conte more simply because he went to jail instead of implicating anyone is not proof of innocence. In fact, in interviews with USADA officials, they all seem to have little trust in him. That is why they were reticient to have him help in cleaning up sports.
5-My biggest quarrel was with HBO, as they are clearly biased. DO you really believe they cast as much cloud on the donaire win as they did in the marquez win?
Pacquiao was hurt when Barrera hit him on the break once too and he was hurt bad, by a punch he didnt expect just like he didnt see Marquez shot coming. Im not sure why people think Pacquiao cant be hurt, he even admitted that Marquez has hurt him in the past.
Maybe because Donaire had been f***ing people up with his left hook for years before Montiel?
You could have found a much better example to use for a thread like this.
Marquez also brutally knocked out opponents as Likar Ramos. He was also the first to KO DIaz and Casamayor. THat was before Heredia, does that make him clean?
See this is where I wonder if you're being sincere. Ramos, for real? You know all of JMM's stoppages at LW were from accumulation?

1. Pac had not been down in 9 years, Montiel had just gone down against Valdez and was lucky to get a no contest
2. He had him doing the stutterstep a few times, but the only time he had him in jeopardy was when he cut him in the second bout
3. You pick the only fight he struggled in since Vic, and want to draw conclusions. Concepcion was grossly overweight, didn't even make an effort
4. OK
5. They didn't, for the reasons given above. But agree they went way too far with JMM
Nonito looked very suspect at the weigh in against Montiel. He's super ripped!

Look at Montiel... eyeballing Donaire with his eyes saying... I know you roided... you're using steroids... pretend all you want... but you're on roids.... being more ripped than me.... banana

Conte has pull with VADA, so that doesn't mean ***** either than his buddies taking test on his fighter=joke
Ohhh... didn't Berto use Conte too and get caught?
What're going to tell me next?
He hates black dudes and has a hard on for little Asian men?

I was talking about the individual commentators. They talked about the Marquez suspicion the day of the fight and the week following it.
They also failed to mention that Marquez tested negative and failed to mention that Pacquiao himself said he felt no major difference in the power of Marquez. I am just calling out the bias reporting.
That's fine, but this thread was a horrible way of doing it.
Should have used one of the existing threads.
Well if you remember it why was this thread created when it was clearly mentioned before the fight??? You should just let this thread die

you mean the same ko everyone thought looked fake as hell...and ramos was a nobody anyways..and marquez ko'ed diaz and casamayor but it was mostly from an accumulation of punches not just one big shot. and casa was like 37 years old and it wasn't like he was never knocked down before marquez (he was knocked down plenty of times). truth is marquez never really had huge ko power like he showed against pac last week..especially at age 39 when u should be in decline....

jesus, i dont think marquez has ever even knocked an opponent down with a single punch
usually accumulation, and i like people out of nowhere are calling marquez a powerpuncher when even his trainer says he needs to land about 5 shots to the chin and "maybe" they go down
p.s the only reason marquez's ko percentage is as high as it is is because of the level of opposition he has faced through-out the majority of his career

I remember it. BTW, i never said Donaire took or has taken PEDS. My criticism was mainly on HBO's broadcast team for their constant reminder about Heredia. If Pacquiao would have been more careful and methodically finished off Marquez, there would be no PED talk.
As a side note, we know that testing negative is not guarantee of a clean fighter. Shane Mosley never tested positive, and we all know what he did.
Well if you remember it why was this thread created when it was clearly mentioned before the fight??? You should just let this thread die
If you're finding a reason to accuse Donaire of using PED's after he voluntarily put himself up for year round random drug testing... you just hate the guy.
Donaire knew the stigma that'd be aligned with Conte when he joined up with him
Conte has pull with VADA, so that doesn't mean ***** either than his buddies taking test on his fighter=joke
Donaire did an interview before the Montiel fight on HBO where he coined the term you can test me anytime.... They talked about his training with Conte and showed him doing his hypoxic training.... The term was coined because of the suspicion of working with Conte

Likar "the sandman" Ramos?
That dude needs to take better acting lessons

This is exactly what I was talking about.
Stupid thread.
