I'm a Lara fan and I thought it was a great move when he went in with the Mexican colors in his last fight.
Funny you should bring that up. Although I'm good with Khan's gesture, I wasn't crazy about Lara's move. I just didn't see the point. He's not bringing anyone over to his camp that way, in my opinion. Jose Napoles, the ATG Cuban welterweight, would sometimes wear a Mexican sombrero in the ring. But "Mantequilla" actually made Mexico his home after leaving Cuba. That made sense. He was acknowledging his adoptive homeland. Something about Lara's approach was off-putting.
I honestly think he only said it for a cheap pop from the crowd, not actually realizing the implications regarding his friend Pacman and Juan Marquez.
Or maybe it was a shot at Roach's Parkinson disease.:dunno:
Smart move by Khan, I would have done the same thing. You have to try to gain support from a large boxing audience.
So would I. As a professional fighter, you're basically an entertainer. If you're star, or a potential star, you ought to be playing it up. Wherever you're fighting in the world, you should be seeking to draw more fans. You catch more flies with honey than with vinegar.
What's saying viva Mexico got to do with Pacquiao? It was a large Mexican crowd and he was showing his appreciation that one of the best fan bases in the sport were there to watch the fight.
yah i think it had to do more with the mexican-american crowd...khan was pretty much fighting in carlos molina's backyard...

That crowd was there entirely to support Molina, but there was just no way they could will their overmatched Mexican-American fighter to victory. Khan's "Viva Mexico!" was simply a PR move, I thought. He was simply trying to build some rapport with huge fans of the sport. I saw nothing wrong with it.
How the hell can you take his viva mexico as an insult to pacman? damn... guys have vivid minds! He was simply saluting the mexican american crowed who were cheering khan on!
I agree, i'll stop watching the Alex Jones show on Youtube from now on.

Did he really say that after his fight with molina?
I thought khan and Pac were friends, what happened?
I guess he just knows it's time to switch allegiances from the Pinoys to the Mexicans. Pacquiao is on the slide yo.

The Mexicans and Mexican-Americans gave him a good reception it seemed.
Amir could fight in the MEN in Manchester and get more boos than he did last night.
