I think his inside game is a lil better and he isn't leaving himself vulnerable as much but I think his defense still needs a lot of work.
He's lucky Molina lacks power cause if he did I think he woulda hit the canvas at least once. I was on the edge of my seat everytime he took a big hit lol
And Danny Garcia would kill the Khan we saw tonight IMO
Either way congrats to Amir Khan 2.0
Khan looked awful last night.
He got tagged with far too many clean shots when you consider the height, reach and athletic advantages he has.
If that was someone who carried more power he would have needed a plan b.
Last night was the chance to practice that plan b with the comfort of knowing Molina couldn't hurt him.
A real wasted opportunity.
Yup all garcia had was that lucky big hook that connected, khan woulda knocked him out within 2 rounds max it it continued his way.
Garcia is a poor fighter. If you rewatch khan vs garcia, khan was using him as a punching bag for most of the first 3 rounds.
Even when khan was unsteady the guy couldn't even land punches on khan for most of round 4 even throwing wild haymakers.
Khan still doesn't have great defense but he wasn't made as a defensive fighter but im sure in a rematch he will destroy garcia just like lewis destroyed rahman
I was disappointed at the fact he was still throwing uppercuts from the outside. Still open to a perfectly timed left hook. Looked flashy tonight but he needs a real test. Molina was a human punch bag out there. With more carefully selected fights he can get to another world title but I don't think even with Virgil he'll overcome his instincts to lead with a right from range. Just too set in his ways. Very entertaining to watch though.
khan's performance tonight just showed he can beat a lightweight half his size who wasn't even firing back and no defense, it took him forever to finally get the "W". khan should try fighting someone his own size
better fighters than Khan have taken soft touches as a comeback after a loss. Khan just needed this for his confidence

Hes engaging less, gets his punches and circles, where as before he would throw punches gaurd his face and let the opponent rip his body.
He needs to improve the timing of his jabs and not drop his right while jabbing.
A much improved performance but it can be seen as better than what it was considering the low level of Molina. Nevertheless, his inside game was the best I had seen it, and he used some of the techniques Hunter taught him. He looked a lot more cautious and was an overall top performance.
He was still getting caught with the left hook and was abit excitable at times, the hand speed was amazing to watch though. I think he should take a Peterson rematch next.
nah... it was just great matchmaking by goldenboy. improvements? he fought a flat-footed midget with short arms thats the improvement. he wasnt as offnseive minded as he used to be thats all.
I would say hes improved A LOT. If you look at his footwork, before it used to be a little wild and amateurish, and now its much more considered, deliberate and concise. He is starting to use his feet like Andre Ward does a little.
His balance was good, i noted he doesnt jump around like pacman anymore
His jab is his biggest asset and i am glad he used it for a change
He was cautious, which is good
However his defense is still the same, but that will not change over night, i am sure Hunter will watch the video of the fight and see what they have to work on.
Now the real question is when someone lands a huge punch will he go in to trading blows, toe to toe or will he back off or clinch
If Garcia had landed a smacker tonight, would Khan have done what he did last time and go toe to toe and trade blows, we will only find out when het gets back in the ring with a puncher
Garcia is a very limited boxer, he only ever stand a punchers chance against Khan, but thats all he needs. Khan and Hunter need to start working on the defense now, his offense, speed and fitness was amazing
I'm still not sold, but cant wait to see whoever he fights next
I have seen virtually every Khan fight since he entered the 2004 Olympics and I can confidently state that he did NOTHING new in the ring against Molina. Take a look back at the Kotelnik fight and this was a carbon copy performance. The issue with Khan is that it only takes ONE clean shot from a puncher like Garcia to end his career.
He was patient and he threw combinations in regular intervals but every opponent he now faces will be waiting for him to square up when he attacks. Khan needs to stick to his jab more often and improve on counter punching because that is his best opportunity to take advantage instead of constantly forcing the attack.
The guy has so many attributes going for him and it is sad to see him waste his potential.
Wrong.
Garcia would not kill the Khan we saw tonight. You're forgetting Khan did the same thing to Garcia early on in the fight he did to Molina tonight.
Khan is more cautious about trading shots with his opponent know. He throws his combinations and either steps back or move lateral. He was patient tonight and stuck to his game plan which he did not do against Petterson and Garcia.
I agree with you on the cautious part, that's actually when I meant when i was talkin bout him not leavin himself vulnerable as much. But I still think Garcia would have beat him a 2nd time. To each their own though
What's so special about Garcia? Who did Garcia beat? A fat past prime Morales, an old Nate Cambell, a choker in Kendal Holt, and a weak chin fighter in Khan.
Khan dominated Judah and made him quit, beat a fighter in Maidana that people on here claim all the time fighters duck him, and got robbed against Peterson.
Say what you want about Khan, but he has a better resume than Garcia and is a better all around boxer than Garcia.
Garcia got schooled against Morales, but only won because Morales was too old and had very little stamina.
So much truth, but another truth remains: Garcia scrambled Amir's brains. Tonight, Khan looked open to the punch that sent him into la-la land against Danny. Molina landed the same blow, just not with enough power. Amir needs to make sure he doesn't get caught again versus Garcia. If he doesn't, he should win a comfortable decision.

Yet he still managed to beat him! I'll admit Garcia looks very average but he always finds a way to win against all odds! Morales did pretty good in the first fight for an old man, then paid the price for being a cheat old man!
I seen some fighting inside, something he usually don't do that is really the only improvement I see
but Molina wasn't a good enough opponent to really tell if or how much Khan has improved
Molina was literally target practice for Khan tonight. Amir looked damned impressive, but I'm sure he looks that way when he shadowboxes, too.
Let me put it this way, he looked much better against Kotelnik than he did tonight. And that was against a top fighter.
His performance against Kotelnik is the closet you can get to a flawless performance.
People act like because Khan has been knocked out twice and doesn't react too well to pressure that he's a reckless brawler. People forget how well he boxed against Malignaggi and Judah.
I think people are expecting something from Khan under Hunter that isn't going to happen.
But, we'll see.
khan was good. has speed and good combo punching. always had heart. downside is his chin. it is hard to have confidence in his punch resistance.
next stop: id fight another tune up, then Lamont in the summer. not in DC. night.
