Floyd Mayweather's adviser said he expects an announcement within the next few days, likely before Christmas, on the boxer's next bout.
The Grand Rapids native intends to fight May 4 in Las Vegas, though none of that has been finalized.
Most likely opponents are Robert "The Ghost" Guerrero or Saul "Canelo" Alvarez, both of whom are promoted by Golden Boy Promotions, with which Mayweather has a working relationship.
Leonard Ellerbe, CEO of Mayweather promotions, said today that he expects to have the fight finalized in the next few days.
"Floyd just wants to fight the biggest fights out there," Ellerbe said, though he declined to identify the targeted opponent or confirm that it would be either Guerrero or Alvarez.
"We already know who the players are," Ellerbe said.
Mayweather last fought in a May 5 win over Miguel Cotto.
Since then, several of his top potential challengers have lost and fallen out of contention for the fight, most notably Manny Pacquiao twice -- including a knockout loss last week to Juan Manuel Marquez -- and Amir Khan.
Mayweather turns 36 in February.
"I think he's re-energized," Ellerbe said. "He's just looking to go out there and show the whole world he's the best out there and will continue to be the best out there."
Hatton was Floyd 4th fight @ 147 while that Hatton 2nd fight there. So lets use actual facts and nevermind Hatton walked around as a Light Heavy let's not forget that also.
What has Hatton running his mouth got to do with who is the smaller man. Hatton is a clear 140 fighter. He is short, has short arms. Lost 3 times at 147 in reality, but got a gift.

So why doesn't MP fight JMM at 140 or a CW? Why didn't he fight Cotto at 47, and why didn't he fight Margarito at 154. Using your logic the A-side is supposed to disadvantage himself.
Nevermind, i forgot i was talking to an overweight intellectually dishonest, hypocritical fat chav :killyou:
Keep your racist posts out of my thread.
Indeed, Hatton wanted the fight at 140 and then asked Mayweather for a catchweight, Mayweather refused.
According to his father and uncle Floyd can still make 140 today, but best believe he wouldn't fight Marquez anywhere under 147.

1. Hatton was running his mouth about wanting the Floyd fight, he should be willing to fight Floyd at WW .. and asking for a catchweight is straight up cowardly on Ricky's part just fight the dude at WW
2. Floyd wouldn't fight JMM under 147? yet the Marquez-Mayweather bout was fought at a contracted weight if 144 if I'm not mistaken, yes Floyd came in at 146, 2 lbs over the contracted limit, but still under the Welterweight max
Hatton ran around saying he could beat Floyd and saying he was scarred of him was Floyd supposed to move down in weight as the A-side to fight both of them. Marquez moved up in weight to get Manny to fight him again and he thought beating Floyd would make him get the rematch. Not knowing losing the way he did got him the rematch.
I was just responding to someone who stated that Floyd was always the smaller man since moving to 147 which is false.
So again Floyd was supposed to give into Hatton demands to fight at 140 then he might s well fought him in Manchester also. Marquez probaly thought Floyd hadn't fought in almost two years no way he would beat him.

I know Floyd Sr has said it, but when did Roger say it? Not saying it's not true, but I don't recall him saying it. Do you have a source?
And I'm sure you know full well that there is absolutely no way Mayweather can make 140 comfortably.
Really? He dragged both Hatton and JMM up from lighter weight classes.

What? Floyd has been the smaller man since he moved up to 147. LMAO what alternate reality are you living in?

If this is indeed the case and Floyd just wants to fight the BIGGEST fights out there, then this rules out a fight against Guerrero. There is nothing big about a fight between Floyd and Guerrero. Aside from Mexican boxing fans and diehards, nobody even knows who Guerrero is.
I dont disagree with the both of you completely...but I do disagree Martinez is too big for Floyd. Look at Ortiz... Look at Chavez jr vs Martinez. We can't just say Floyd is too small when you have others fighting bigger men. It's not surprising most of the top 5 p4p people have fought bigger men (Manny has, JMM has..with Floyd to be exact..Ward fought someone perceived as the bigger man as well...Martinez fought huge guys in Pavlik and Chavez Jr, and everyone has basically been bigger than him for years etc). The only one missing is floyd, really. Everyone else is stepping up. Martinez would be the bigger man on fight night, but it would be by average standards imo. Similar to a small welter fighting a big one. And that's what I Mean about Floyd biting off more than he can chew. I just don't know how sharp his edge is anymore. Don't know if it's sharp enough to survive a gauntlet at 154... I hope he's as good as ever because as much as I dislike the guy outside of the ring, he's a special dude inside.
