good to see people remembering what a beast vargas was...always wondered what would have become of him had trinidad not taken his soul...he'd probably been one of the best fighters to grace 154 That war he had with Trinidad is worth more to boxing fans than any of Canelos wins to date..Just shows how much balls Vargas had.

easy victory for vargas canela has not beaten anyone. vargas and his team had confidence in his abilities he fought winky, ike, raul marquez silver medalist @olympics by the time he was 23 years old now compare that to canela resume now? the reason canela doesnt have anyone on his resume is because his team doesnt have any confidence in his abilities because if they did matches with angulo, kirkland, delvin rodriguez, vanes, lara, carlos molina, would have already been done Well said, Canelo aka Canela..lol..has not fought anyone, Vargas was one of my favorite fighters a true warrior who wanted to fight the best. I like both fighters. Vargas was far more proven of course. But from the skill I see in Canelo against lesser fighters I make the fight even. Canelo may fight someone good this May. I know most think I am crazy to give Canelo a chance but I believe in him until proven otherwise. If I have to pick now I'd go with Vargas because of real life wins but after May 2013 I might change my mind. I have seen this question before a few times. Lots of guys want Canelo to lose even if it's a fantasy fight. Not me. I hope he never loses.

My guess is the Mexican fans know that if they spoke the truth, they would admit that their flavor of the month Alvarez gets his ass kicked by Vargas Mexican here. All that has to said is Vargas fought Ike, De la Hoya, and trinidad. I like Canelo, but lets be honest his opponents are a joke; however, I think de la Hoya will be stepping up his competition from now on.
