Now that Emmanuel Steward is gone, and Merchant is retiring, we got Roy Jones Jr, Jim Lampley and Max Kellerman left. They'll probably need a back up to rotate in. This would be a good opportunity to bring in a younger commentator who can bring a different audience to the sport.
Of course they have to know boxing as well.
Don't know who this may be....but I am just saying.
Threads like this always bring out the utter stupidity of about half of the board. Wow. I'm amazed some of you are serious/and or claim to be boxing fans.
Bring back SRL,
if not him someone exciting, not someone like bum a$$ Kellerman, he starts "commentating loud" so it sounds like he's excited. What a joke.
SRL isnt that great to be honest... he's a bit, feminine, if you will.
this is such an easy fix that i cant believe hbo hasnt thought of it yet.
hire a beautiful woman as part of the broadcasting crew.
not just someone who is eye candy but someone who actually knows sports.
i hear michelle beadle is available. having a beautiful, attractive woman as part of your telecast does wonders for ratings and the aesthetic display of your product.
another thing that would help is getting some new blood and replace jim lampley who still has a great voice but sadly is utterly shot and trouble describing the action, pronouncing words, and offering shoddy analysis on regular basis now.
1. hire an attractive woman who knows sports.
2. get some new blood in and no, bob papa is not the answer.
go for someone like tony reali. a young guy in his prime who knows sports and is great at moderating.

roger mayweather
gambeino (youtube)
or mike tyson
They should hire a Hispanic commentator. That community gives us a lot of great fights but is under-represented in the boxing media.
HBO should hire somebody just because they are Hispanic, not because they are good at what they do. You suck.
I enjoyed Malignaggi alot. RJJ annoys me sometimes, but he has his moments where he shines. The shot that JMM landed on Pac and his commentary was gold.
Ray Leonard.
He was one of the biggest attractions in boxing history. I'm sure he could attract a few more, as a commentator.
He's well spoken and excellent at noticing the little things.
Massive, massive ego though.
I agree, he's articulate, well spoken, and knows his stuff, but can you blame him though? The man aguably beat 2 or 3 ATG's of his era.
I only see him bringing in older people though more than anything.
I really like paulie as a commentator too but he was EXTREMELY biased for cotto a few weeks ago. I know hes boys with miguel but it was way over the top.
yes he was sh*t commentating on that fight
Need someone who is not scared to tell the truth and usually gets it right.
Wayne McCullough knows his onions and tells it how it is, although I'm not sure he has the voice for it.
They should get a couple of tossers who get really excited about two guys lying on top of each other and then one of them screams " IT'S ALL OVER" every time a fight ends, no matter how boring it is.
I like Paulie. Think the dude is spot on from watching him with Showtime.
I didn't used to mind Kellermen but listening to him during the Guerrero - Berto fight really pissed me off.
I'm not the biggest fan of Roy Jones. He does have some decent moments but I think he's bang average.
I wouldn't mind seeing somone like B-Hop or Foreman.
**** it bring in Joey Stylez or Good ol JR :D
