Hours after Miguel Vazquez retained his lightweight world title belt by wide decision over unbeaten Filipino contender Mercito Gesta last Saturday at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, the Mexican champ was hidden in plain sight.
Vazquez was not dancing the night away with wife Cynthia at one of the nearby clubs. Nor did he celebrate his victory inhaling a placemat-sized steak at one of the fancy restaurants adjacent to the arena.

has broner fought anyone that doesnt stand in front of him?
Ponce De Leon.
You can't even provide PROOF that Broner can't cut the ring off, your just making up sh1t because you want to see Broner lose
Nobody is saying he can't, we're just saying he hasn't done it so far. You gotta go by what you see and what I see is a fighter who just walks forward and has poor lateral movement.
So why not make Vasquez vs. Richard Abril? By unifying (assuming that the WBA makes Abril their full champion) the winner will bring something more to the table.
I would love to see this fight but I don't think many people would be interested.
Vasquez has given us 2 stinkers back to back. No one wants to watch this guy fight again, including the HBO commentators.

Nobody is unified at 35.... Why not go for the #1 guy and become lineal??? Makes more sense to me
Comment wasn't directed at you, I was talking (or posting) In General
as for Broner cutting the ring off, I don't think that will be a problem at all because Broner does have good feet, Broner is far from a "FLAT FOOTED FIGHTER" late he just been standing on his punches to get off with MORE POWER and so far it has worked because he has been scoring KO's, Broner actually use to fight going backward and just depending on that Counter Hook but after the Ponce fight he has been walking his opponents down and throwing more Power Shots
In this case I don't think cutting off the ring would be a matter of moving your feet, but more of ring IQ.
One thing is having good footwork and another one is having the intelligence to anticipate your opponent movements to trap him in a corner.
Vazquez is very very hard to beat, the guy has A LOT of lateral movement and does unexpected things. Broner would have to be very smart to cut off the ring and get close enough to hit Vazquez.

Give the man what he wants.
His first loss at LW (possibly by stoppage) and feeding his strap to Broner.
2013 - Year of Broner
February - Vasquez (IBF Champ)
Mid-Year - Burns (WBO Champ)
End of Year - Abril (Should be the outright WBA Champ by then)
GBP/Haymon need to follow this path, as it will greatly add to Broners marketing and legacy by being crowning an Undisputed Champion.
vasquez beats complete garbage in gesta, and all of a sudden he is the man? dont get me wrong, vasquez is a good slick boxer and all, but he's not quite on broner's level from what I've seen. broner has a easy time with him after he figures him out quick. broner knows how to use the ring and how to cut the ring off.
I guess Broner knows better than you, Vasquez fight was the first fight presented to Broner this year, he turned down inmediately, so you draw your conclusions.
I doubt Broner will take this fight, it would be a good fight
Unless Vasquez takes it for free it won't get made. HBO commented all night how bad Vasquez-Gesta was... they even said a Mitt Romney joke about it... it's that bad. I can't see a network paying to put him on TV again.
:lol1: why so butthurt? hopefully the fight gets made :boxing:
I've been on cloud 9 since Saturday night, God I love this sport!
Butthurt? Not at all, but if your going to run your mouth, bring fact to the take, at least try to make sense instead of just saying what somebody can or can't do but yet you can't even provide PROOF
Name a fight in which Broner couldn't cut the ring off?
im not saying he cant but i havent seen proof that he can..

Why even reply to the ignorance...people are just looking to debate by posting stupid sh1t like "Broner Can't Cut The Ring Off" hahaha

Broner can't cut the ring off for shyt. Vazquez boxes circles around him for 12 rounds, easily too.
but like I said, I don't think Broner has the balls to accept the challenge.
hmmm...
okie dokie...
wow...
A few days before the Gesta fight I went against Gesta because of his bad footwork and Vazquez's better movement and I picked Vazquez by decision. Vazquez is like a rubix cube....he will be hard to solve for anyone. The fact that he will fight anyone has won me over a bit. Vazquez is the opposite to DeMarco and is hard to catch. Broner may get frustrated in the fight.
