Mostly everyone here, including die hard Floyd fans seem to have an issue with Floyd fighting Guerrero. Some people have different reasons why they think Floyd-Guerrero is a shit fight, but the majority simply believe that Guerrero will lose a wide UD in a boring fight. I've seen people compare it's legitimacy to Pacquiao when he fought Clottey. Same ole same ole.
We want Floyd to be given a legit challenge. So what if he fights Sergio Martinez (at 154) in September? THEN I wouldn't mind him fighting someone like Guerrero or Bradley so much on May 4th. Because I know that it'd basically be his sorta "tune up" in preparation for the skilled, hard hitting p4p fighter in Sergio Martinez. I don't know ANYONE who would knock a Sergio Martinez fight, not even the Floyd haters.
The luster hasn't died down just yet, in fact I read an article stating that Martinez said he wants Floyd after Murray. The Murray fight is in April so that leaves him enough time for Floyd in September.
Do you think Floyd will show any interest in fighting Sergio Martinez?
Do you think Floyd should fight Guerrero/Canelo in May, and Martinez in September?
Floyd fighting a top 10 guy........blaheheheheheheheheeeee:WORD:
Yeah after Cotto and Ortiz I don't think that's something he'd be into doing. Though I think The Ring moved Guerrero up to #10 to fit their agenda in case Floyd does fight him.
First off the only way a Floyd-Guerrero fight would be acceptable would be if it was on CBS. In fact I think it would be a genius move for him and Golden Boy at this point. But since there is no chance in hell the fight won't be on PPV it is a certified **** fight.
Outside of that there is 0 chance Floyd takes on Sergio.
Sergio would destroy Mayweather, possibly murder him in the ring.
:lol1: damn, telling it like it is. Sucks that Floyd won't even ponder this challenge.

Not even two hours and its nearly 10 pages.
He really should fight a tune up first since it would have been over a year. If he does then sure, make it happen.
The thread is from yesterday
Same can be said the other way around. This fight would be atrociously boring, the fans that want to see it are the ones that want Mayweather to suffer the same fate as Pacquiao, and there are many of them.
No, it wouldn't.
And since when do Floyd fans give a sh*t about boring fights? Aren't you all the same crowd who refer to the Baldomir fight as a "masterclass"?
In the immortal words of Nick Diaz : "Don't be scared, homie."

You're doing exactly what Bringer said lol. You fear the outcome is all, don't worry it happens.
True, but Floyd can fight him on May 4th, and Martinez in Sept (though it's highly unlikely). If not it's pretty much guaranteed Canelo would be on Floyd's under card regardless with a sold out arena. Martinez gained a ton of fans after he basically shut out "La Dinero De Vaca".
I think Martinez is going to fight Murray and Chavez Jr. in 2013. Floyd with Guerrero in May, Canelo in September. I hope they can work something out, but this is how I shaking out.
Oscar De La Hoya
And why does Floyd have to fight someone significantly bigger than him whats wrong with fight guys in your weight class?
Because they realize the most likely way he loses in the foreseeable future is by fighting someone with a significant size advantage over him. Which is why people are advocating he fight Canelo next who has potential, but yet to prove anything against any significant competition over Guerrero who at least positioned himself for a fight.
I'd love to see it at 160(No chance). I'd only like to see it at 154 if Martinez can win a tuneup fight there and not look garbage doing it.
Complete landslide poll. Everyone wants to see Floyd fight Martinez. Let's see if Floyd is willing.
Won't happen. Although I'd love to be proven wrong.
Martinez just wants smaller guys that bring money period! I mean to want PAC when PAC naturally is probably a lww , Martinez clearly said he ain't going up to 168 let alone 175. I gotta agree Floyd don't get out of his comfort zone much but Martinez picking on smaller guys is shameful hell probably want Marquez next :nono: Floyd was also wrong to pick on Marquez he he was a lw, I see no difference between may and Martinez.
Ummmm...why you jocking my profile pic, brah?
;)
I don't agree. I think he can make 154. Besides, if we're using that logic then they shouldn't fight at all. Floyd can't even get to 154 so the idea of making the fight at 160 would make him ineffective as well, especially at 36.
Its easier to go up in weight than down, and Floyd doesnt have to be 160, he can come in at whatever weight he feels he can be most effective at. Its a massive ask, but this guy harps on about greatness and greatness in this sport is about taking on massive challenges. I would fancy his chances more than I did Leonards against Hagler.

Look at martinez's match history, always fought boxers bigger than him
it would be a great accomplishment for floyd if he were to move up to middleweight and beat martinez. but then again floyd would have a huge size disadvantage, so i wouldn't blame him if he asked martinez to come down to 154 or fight at a catchweight..it would still be a nice fight to see floyd vs martinez..
